Each story in this collection has been reviewed separately. Great collection of stories. I couldn’t put them down.
The Easy Way – I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the instant connection between Cort and Cam. Cort is an FBI Agent trying to bring the Seavers to justice for blaming his brother Damon, the pilot of the Seavers Plane when the Plane crashed killing Levi & Charlotte Seaver and Amy McMann and hopefully get his brother’s life back. He gets found out that he’s using the FBI resources for self gain and writing a letter the Seaver Tech saying that they noticed that Sebastian Seaver hacked into somewhere he shouldn’t, there was no active investigation so Cort got stood down of administrative leave until they’ve reviewed everything and made an informed decision in regards to Cort’s future with the FBI. Cam lost his parents about a year ago and has taken over the interim running of Seaver Tech while Bas comes back to the land of the living since he’s spiralling in his grief since he lost not only his parent but his fiancé Amy McMann, his best friend Drew’s sister in the same plane crash. Cort needs to find a way to get close to the Seavers and take them down but as soon as he sees Cam at the Fundraiser he feels and instant attraction but as soon as he starts talking to Cam he realises that he generally likes the guy as well, they have a connection but due to Cort not being truthful about who he is and where he works nearly breaks cam even though and thinks that he imaged their connection and that Cort went above and beyond his duties by basically sleeping with Cam. After a few more instances that Cort withheld information and Cam finding out didn’t help matters This book has a lot twist and turns with the investigation into the plane crash. I’m looking forward to reading Cain and Damon’s book which should be really good since they seem so different and the mystery slowly unravel whose resposible
The Long Way – Wow, another awesome read by May Archer. I loved this book. Damon, and the others work out that it was Senator Shaw, Levi Seavers best friend and Cam and Bas’s honorary uncle who got his assistant/bodyguard Jack Peabody to sabotage the engine in the Seavers plane and framing Damon the pilot on their fight to take the fall for it, not thinking that he’ll make it out alive from the plane crash but he did. Cain is the Senator’s son found out that his dad was behind everything but goes back to being the dutiful son on his fathers campaign trail. To the others it looks bad, that even after hearing everything that he can still support his fathers values, considering it goes against who he is but he was planning on blowing the lid on the Senator but his father found out and is using Cain’s conscience against him to keep him in line, meaning that when Cain was still in high school he thought himself in love with a scholarship student Jesse until his father found them kissing and threatened Jesse’s scholarship and all he had to do was never see Cain again, Cain told his father and Jesse how he felt but Jesse basically threw it back in his face and saying that he was only using Cain. The Senator used this against Cain again when he found out what Cain was going to do and threatened Jesse’s livelihood, Jesse then got a fast tracked promotion when Cain dropped his investigation. Damon shows up at a fundraiser for Senator Shaw and starts to make a complete nuisance of himself but Cain steps in and saves Damon from being seen since he’s technically meant to be dead. After this they slowly start to trust each other and work together to get to the bottom of why the Senator’s done what he’s done and right his wrongs. I loved their banter with each other and seeing their connection slowly grow as the book goes along. I’m really looking forward to Drew and Bas’s story as well as the conclusion of this story.
The Right Way – Wow, this was my favourite book of the whole series. Drew and Bas have been best friends for years, Drew has harboured unrequited feelings for Bas for years. When Drew and Bas go to a Halloween party, Drew ends up getting drunk and they start playing a game with some old classmates and Bas is asked whether he’d either kiss Drew and never see Drew again. Drew and Bas argue about it but Bas ends up kissing Drew and Drew is completely disappointed as it was underwhelming but Bas comes back and kisses him like he means it, enjoys it but Drew being drunk doesn’t realise that he actually said his thoughts in his head out loud and that he’s loved Bas for years. They leave but argue and Bas does what Bas does best and runs, he doesn’t see or speak to Drew for months. it’s heartbreaking reading about Drew’s feelings in relation to this. Of course they make up, it just takes awhile for Drew and Bas to sort their sh*t out and realise that they’re perfect together, well it takes Bas awhile to workout his feelings for Drew and for Drew to believe that Bas is all in and isn’t going to run again. I completely loved their connection, that’s been years in the making. It was cool seeing Bas work out his feelings towards Drew and that he’s loved him for years without even realising it. The found family bonds in this story are awesome and everyone should be lucky to have an as close friends/family group. Total friends/family goals and considering most of them had pretty shi*ty upbringings and have lost a lot, it just means that much more that they have each other to lean on. Man, Drew and Bas give me so much feels, the emotion shown by each of them pulls on the heartstrings. I loved how Drew knows how to get Bas out of his head and found it funny that when Drew is extremely stressed that he becomes very domesticated and loves taking care of everyone he loves. Man, I loved seeing how they kind of got justice for the deaths of their loved ones and what they’ve done in their legacies is awesome.
I’d definitely recommend this collection, series and author to everyone.
