Didn’t see the end coming
Gregg Dunnett is a fantastic writer. In this book, the main character is struggling with “what to do?” when he realizes that someone has been murdered to protect the sweet surf spot he and his friends use. He suspects his best buddy, but doesn’t want to believe it. Great story!
Ending was too abrupt. However wonderfully suspenseful with good story line and characters.
Good mystery. Kept me hanging until the end.
Wow!
I just couldn’t get into this, so did not finish.
I was caught off guard!
This one kept me up until I finished it. Told from the perspective of two characters over an 8 year period, the story of a victim, his wife who is searching for answers, and someone who knows that happened 8 years previously it is a mesmerizing tale. Add in character flaws galore and you end up with a unpredictable mix. The ending is another story!
What a ride! Both plot lines draw you in and are intriguing on their own even as you enjoy the foreshadowing they surely have to converge at some point. Wonderful writing, great characters and plot. I am forever indebted to the author for his note about the ending. I love knowing the thought process. On to read my next Gregg Dunnett book!!
A great surprise. One of those books you keep thinking about.
It was hard for me to get into.
Good job! A story with an excellent plot and good character development.
What a journey this book was. Read it in one sitting to find out the ending. Well worth a read.
The writing is gripping, and the characterizations are believable.
Interesting ending!!!!!!!!!
Story didn’t flow well. Too much detail about surfing. It did get more interesting late in the book, but I admit I had to force myself to finish it.
just could not maintain an interest in this book. But I always keep reading hoping that eventually something will redeem it. Not in this case…
Wow! It moved. It twisted and turned. The ending was amazing!
It was a very good story. A huge twist at the end. This would have been rated 5 stars, but it took almost half of the book to get into the meat of the story. If you are prepared for that, it’s worth the time!
I liked this book right until the end. The reader is presented with “facts” right up until the last chapter. I like a good plot twist as much as the next person but I felt that the author was dishonest with the reader for almost the whole book. Then with no warning at all the good guy becomes the bad guy and vice versa. I’m no author so I’m not exactly how something like this should be handled but it just didn’t feel right the way it ended. It’s a clever idea but the way it was presented just didn’t make any sense.
