USA Today bestselling series.India Steele is desperate. Her father is dead, her fiancé took her inheritance, and no one will employ her, despite years working for her watchmaker father. Indeed, the other London watchmakers seem frightened of her. Alone, poor, and at the end of her tether, India takes employment with the only person who’ll accept her – an enigmatic and mysterious man from America. … man from America. A man who possesses a strange watch that rejuvenates him when he’s ill.
Matthew Glass must find a particular watchmaker, but he won’t tell India why any old one won’t do. Nor will he tell her what he does back home, and how he can afford to stay in a house in one of London’s best streets. So when she reads about an American outlaw known as the Dark Rider arriving in England, she suspects Mr. Glass is the fugitive. When danger comes to their door, she’s certain of it. But if she notifies the authorities, she’ll find herself unemployed and homeless again – and she will have betrayed the man who saved her life.
With a cast of quirky characters, an intriguing mystery, and a dash of romance, THE WATCHMAKER’S DAUGHTER is the start of a thrilling new historical fantasy series from the author of the bestselling Ministry of Curiosities, Freak House, and Emily Chambers Spirit Medium books.

A unique storyline with some historical accuracy’s and very interesting characters. Book one in the series. I can’t wait to read book 2.
Just a fun read from beginning to end. I look forward to more of this series.
Original unusual story, well-written, interesting and likeable characters. Great for fantasy lovers! This is my first CJ Archer book. I liked this well enough to pick up the next book in the series.
It is a rare book that I read for free and like the story line enough to buy additional books in the series. The Watchmaker’s Daughter was one of them. Fun story line. A bit of romance and whimsy with a bit of mystery thrown in.
Was a classic portrayal, not overly romantic.
1st book of series & propelled me to want to read next. Aside from being a mystery,Deals with women’s issues in that time period . Interesting characters!
YA, historical and fresh. Looking forward to the series very much.
Different sort of book than I usually read, and I am not disappointed. The story takes place in long ago London, where ladies were ladies and gentlemen were very formal gentlemen. The story is magical and mysterious.
I do not normally read period pieces, but this was quite good!! It was a little hard to follow in some places, but overall good book!
A fun read. Kept me wanting the next chapter!
I stumbled across this book trolling Amazon for free books one day. I’ll admit, I’m a serious sucker for free books, and all because of little gems like The Clockmaker’s Daughter; a book that was free, self-published, and very enjoyable. In my experience, those are hard to find.
There was plenty of mystery in this book. Enough that it kept me intrigued and reading. Honestly, there was not one single thing I was disappointed about. The characters were great, all of them. The story was great. The way it all wrapped up was perfect. It’s a fun read and easy to follow. I’m looking forward to reading book two, which I plan on downloading tonight. I cannot wait to see what Archer has in store for Mr. Glass and Miss Steele.
Great late night read.
Will read other books by the author
