USA Today bestselling series.India Steele is desperate. Her father is dead, her fiancé took her inheritance, and no one will employ her, despite years working for her watchmaker father. Indeed, the other London watchmakers seem frightened of her. Alone, poor, and at the end of her tether, India takes employment with the only person who’ll accept her – an enigmatic and mysterious man from America. … man from America. A man who possesses a strange watch that rejuvenates him when he’s ill.
Matthew Glass must find a particular watchmaker, but he won’t tell India why any old one won’t do. Nor will he tell her what he does back home, and how he can afford to stay in a house in one of London’s best streets. So when she reads about an American outlaw known as the Dark Rider arriving in England, she suspects Mr. Glass is the fugitive. When danger comes to their door, she’s certain of it. But if she notifies the authorities, she’ll find herself unemployed and homeless again – and she will have betrayed the man who saved her life.
With a cast of quirky characters, an intriguing mystery, and a dash of romance, THE WATCHMAKER’S DAUGHTER is the start of a thrilling new historical fantasy series from the author of the bestselling Ministry of Curiosities, Freak House, and Emily Chambers Spirit Medium books.

Twists and turns…. and a little fantasy too. Entertaining with some interesting characters.
I really like the intrigue so far, I’ve not completed it yet. My only qualm is that it’s a little slow. I’m halfway through and not much has happen yet. But the writing is good and I can tell it’s going to get interesting any minute.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Willie really cracked me up.
nice light reading magical novel
Great book I like these kind of stories
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Already finished next in series, and awaiting the next.
This is the first in the series and I am looking forward to reading the rest. The characters are real and multidimensional. The core concept is original and the plot makes me want to find out what happen next. I only wish that the author would learn the proper use of “I” and “me”.
Enjoyed this book very much. A very unusual story line. Want to read more in this series.
Interesting plot. Anti-climactic ending.
Normally I don’t care for books written about things in another country but once I started this book I couldn’t put it down. Excellent writing keep my interest from the very first page.
Enjoyed reading this book. Can’t wait for the next one.
Fun read. Wanted the story to go on. Need a sequel.
A little slow moving and lacking in suspense. Did not make me want to rush out and get the series.
I wished it was longer! A great combination of America and England, old-timey and magic mixed in, with a strong female lead. I cannot wait to read the next one.
I really liked this book. The characters were engaging and the story line was strong. I liked it so much that I have already purchased and read the second in the series.
This was my first C. J. Archer book and I LOVED it! My new favorite author. There is nothing bad to say about this book and the others in this series. It will keep you interested and turning pages until the very end.
I must warn you though, your dishes will pile up in the sink, your beds will not be made, you will take every stolen moment and then some to keep reading this and all of this author’s other books. It will be your new addiction.
