This is yet another satisfying thrill ride from the pen of Robert Crais. The story starts strong and keeps us going until we reach the end. Unfortunately, it does have a few trademark Robert Crais issues, including Joe Pike acting a bit like a deus ex machina, although it isn’t as bad as in some books. Also, parts of the book rely on characters being too stupid to live (I was rooting for one to die, in fact). The characters could all be stronger, for example I couldn’t keep the main villains straight at all. But they are developed enough that I cared about the outcome. This is one of those books where it is easy to pick apart the flaws, but it is such a fun thrill ride that I’m glad I read it.
As always, Mr. Crais, delivers. Love Elvis and Joe Pike. I have read all of his books, maybe a little too quickly.
Another Crais masterpiece featuring Elvis Cole and Joe Pike. You can never go wrong with those two. This one is heartwarming because of their determination to help a single mom with a troubled teenager.
I just love these characters……..Joe Pike and Elvis Cole……
I love Robert Crais, he is original and creative, his characters are interesting, his plots are inventive, he always manages to keep the story moving with enough plausible twists to keep my interest to the end. I have read the entire Elvis Cole and Joe Pike series and still want more.
Really enjoy this series of books. Like Elvis and Joe. You never know what’s happening next.
Elvis Cole, private investigator, gets a call from a Mom, Devon, who is worried that her son is up to no good. When Elvis searches Tyson’s room, one of the things he found was a Rolex watch. The serial numbers showed that the watch had been stolen in one of eighteen robberies. Elvis starts investigating but seems to be one step behind Harvey and Stemms, two thugs who kill their witnesses after interviewing the. This book is fast paced, well written, and everything good I’ve come to expect from a Robert Crais novel.
And yet another great book by Robert Crais
Love Robert Crais, Elvis Cole and Joe Pike!
Robert Crais is a masterful writer, and here deploys two appealing protagonists: Joe Pike (strong and silent), and Elvis Cole (strong and chatty). The fast-moving plot underlines both their brains and their brawn.
Hard to keep up with. Poorly written.
Love these characters. Always fun action. Page turner, I can’t wait to find out what happens next.
good
Great book in this series
The story was mildly interesting. I thought the ending was flat, it just kinda dumped out in a hurry.
I like Elvis and Joe. They make a good pair. Elvis is goofy and Joe is stoic.
A distraught mother hires Elvis to find out where her son is getting all his high priced toys and clothing. A simple job turns deadly as someone is trying to kill all of them.
Not the best of Robert Crais, but still a pretty good read.
It’s always good to read another story about Elvis and Joe Pike and the cases they pursue. The good guys carry the day, what could be bad about that?
Robert Crais is a great writer and I love anything that he thinks up.
i wait for all of his books to be released, he is witty, I love his characters
Great story with entertaining characters.
