THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERInvestigator Elvis Cole and his partner Joe Pike take on the deadliest case of their lives in the new masterpiece of suspense from #1 New York Times-bestselling author Robert Crais. It seemed like a simple case—before the bodies started piling up… When single-mother Devon Connor hires Elvis Cole, it’s because her troubled teenage son Tyson is flashing cash and … because her troubled teenage son Tyson is flashing cash and she’s afraid he’s dealing drugs. But the truth is devastatingly different. With two others, he’s been responsible for a string of high-end burglaries, a crime spree that takes a deadly turn when one of them is murdered and Tyson and his girlfriend disappear.
They stole the wrong thing from the wrong man, and, determined to get it back, he has hired two men who are smart and brutal and the best at what they do.
To even the odds, Cole brings in his friend Joe Pike, but even the two of them together may be overmatched. The police don’t want them anywhere near the investigation, the teenagers refuse to be found, and the hired killers are leaving a trail of bodies in their wake. Pretty soon, they’ll find out everything they need to know to track the kids down—and then nothing that Elvis or Joe can do may make any difference. It might even get them killed.

I enjoyed another good romp with Elvis and Joe. The story zipped along with clients making horrible choices, Elvis trying to keep everybody safe and out of jail and Joe trying to keep Elvis safe. It was a very satisfying read.
The worlds greatest detective Elvis Cole and his friend and partner, Pike, an ex recon Marine it never get dull. I can’t wait for the next one to come off of the press.
This is an excellent series that seems to get better with each book. I love listening to this series as the reader gives the characters an extra punch to their personalities that seems to really bring them to life. This book finds Elvis helping a single mom out by just checking to see what her teen son is up to, but it seems the teen has landed himself in some serious trouble worse than the mom even imagined. It’s up to Elvis and Pike to help straighten things out before it’s too late. Great plot that is completely believable and excellent character development gives the books depth that will have you turning pages or driving around the block a few more times so you don’t have to stop listening!
Typical Crais. One of the best authors today.
Elvis and Joe have become a staple in my reading. Each book is as good as the one before.
I enjoyed it but not one of his best. Dragged a bit in the plot.
Love this series!
It’s Robert Crais. What else need i say?
A really good Elvis Cole Book by Robert Crais!
Super charged read
I like Elvis Cole and Joe Pike even if the plots are sometimes a stretch of believability.
Another great story by Crais. Teenage burglars are pursued by two highly skilled assassins, who leave no witnesses. Elvis notices and bring in both Joe Pike and Joh Stone. Together, they protect the teenagers, who find the reason for the assassins and the money behind them, going back years to framing a person for a killing that their son did.
Love the series. This did not disappoint
I have read many of Crais’s books and have enjoyed everyone until this one. This one was just okay . I will read a lot of reviews before I buy another one.
