Wonderful story of tragedy and love.
I bought this bought because I love Lucca, Italy so when I saw the title it enticed me to read it. It was fast read, interesting characters and historical. I enjoyed reliving the streets of Lucca from this novel.
Interesting perspective of the changes in Italy between WWI and WW2.
The events take place in Italy during and after WWI however all very relevant for today. Well written. Highly recommend.
This may be the best novel I’ve read in the past few years!
OUTSTANDING!
For the most part I enjoyed this book. I am not a religious person but thought the spirituality was presented well. I love Italy, and history, so this was a no-brainer for me. Looking forward to the sequel.
Really enjoyed a piece of unknown to me history. I learned so much from a time I dont remember being taught. Good for you!
Great story and historically interesting
This book was entertaining from start to finish
This look at Italy during and after the First World War was eye-opening. Warring political factions play into the story. Love, loss, and forgiveness are woven throughout as the main female character gives one much to think about. Her message of God’s love provides much soul searching.
Original characters taking the reader through history in real yet unexpected directions— quite uplifting.
One of the best reads in months
The Walls of Lucca begins the Martellino series by Steve Physioc. Mr Physioc’s talent shines through in this book and I thought it was pretty good. I loved getting to know Isabella. I admired her strength, bravery and determination. I found it interesting to learn a little bit what it would have been like to live in Italy post World War I.
The Walls of Lucca was getting four and a half stars from me. I look forward to the sequel to the Martellino series, Above the Walls, to see what happens next.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
Loved it! Now I want to read book 2. Learned alot about the city of Lucca, Italy.

God, Wine, Vegetables and the story of Italy’s war and politics from WWI forward.
Gave an insight to the view of many Italian’s view of the war and the rise of Mussolini. So many lives lost…for nothing. I loved the description of the grapes and the olives and how they achieved wonderful wine. Good read!
It was well written with much historical information
