They say patience is a virtue. (Yeah, right.)Timing is everything. (Sure thing.)All good things come to those who wait. (Seriously?)If that’s the case, how long does a guy wait for the girl before he becomes a chump?I’ve been best friends with Ellie Green since we were on the high school swim team and I was dating her best friend. A lot has changed since then, except now I’m in love with my best … now I’m in love with my best friend.
I started seeing Ellie in a different light one night in college, but the timing was never right between us. For years I’ve stayed neatly stowed in the friend zone. Until this summer when she lost her job and moved back to our hometown.
That’s when it finally happened. I made my move to escape the dreaded friend zone.
My timing still sucks, though. Now that I have my chance to woo her, Ellie may not stick around long enough to see where things lead between us.
And I may be stuck again waiting until she decides what she wants: my friendship or my love.

This was a really sweet friends to lovers romance. Deacon and Ellie have been best friends forever and they tell each other everything except how they feel for each other neither one wants to lose their friendship so they have never acted on their feelings for each other. Now Ellie is back home and working for Deacon and after a few drinks one night they take the plunge. This was a super read I really liked these two together this was a really sweet yet sexy read
You gotta give Deacon some credit for being so patient for so long. For the first part of the story I was screaming at him to just tell Ellie how he felt. Their relationship was so sweet and the chemistry off the charts. So glad they figured it out.
I originally read this when it was Be Patient and I love the extra content Sierra added to this one. I love the relationship between Ellie and Deacon and how their relationship progressed organically. They already had a foundation. The story is sweet, sexy, and full of passion.
I loved this sweet and hot novella. Sierra has a way of writing these shorter books that doesn’t feel rushed or silly. I felt connected to both Ellie and Deacon and I wanted it to end just as it did. Loved the epilogue, too!
Oh my! I just adored Deacon and Ellie!! They had such a strong friendship and I could sense the chemistry between them – especially when they got tipsy! Alcohol definitely gave them that extra push they needed to get out of the friend zone. And getting to see them in the future after they finally get together……that epilogue truly made me smile!
Fun, sweet, friends to lovers novella. Ellie and Deacon were cute together.
Sierra Hill’s tagline was pretty much created for this novella… “A Perfect Blend of Sweet and Heat.” I don’t really read novellas often. I always want more to a story. However, Sierra creates something seriously charming with Be Patient. I laid in bed on a Saturday morning and read nearly 50% of this book. It was the best morning I’ve had in so long, perhaps years.
Anyways, half of the story really develops the characters and the backstory. The last half really builds something more… breaking free of that dreaded friend zone that everyone finds themself in at one point or another. Deacon and Ellie were part of a trio in high school. They ex-girlfriend and previous bestie is the one missing. I was really shocked with the heat level in this story. There were some really scotchin’ hot areas, some really deep moments, moments that felt real and plausible.
I really liked the story and the characters. Sierra Hill writes stories about real people living real lives. This type of storyline is incredibly relatable and it makes it just compulsive to read. You can’t go wrong with Be Patient if you’re looking for something that’s light angst, high heat, crazy sweet, and totally relatable.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
