Introducing “The Waiting Bride” – the first standalone book in an exciting new Regency romance series, The Returned Lords of Grosvenor Square! *FREE with Kindle Unlimited*“Earnestly awaiting your return,Marianne Weston”Every letter to Lord Philip Galsworthy from his waiting bride closed with the same words. And they always made his heart sink.He knew the words were not for him, but for their … always made his heart sink.
He knew the words were not for him, but for their families who took great delight in reading the correspondence between them. In truth, Marianne had told him in secret, with great relief to himself, that she too was not excited by the long-held expectation of their marriage.
And so, by excusing himself through duty to King and Country, Lord Philip Galsworthy managed to hold off the wedding for a year with hopes that the two families’ interest in seeing them married would wane.
With more effort he also managed to extend his station in India for another year, and then another, but now there was nothing more he could do.
He had to return home, and the wedding plans would be already in motion by the time his ship saw the shores of England again.
Their ages would not permit any more postponements, and so it was time for him to return and fulfill his duty to house and family.
Only, his time away exposed a loneliness that he never knew was quite there. A loneliness that was only remedied by the regular letters from Marianne, which slowly turned his memory of her from the duty he was trying to avoid to the love he could not live without.
Cringing again at the closing to the last letter he received, Philip wonders if it’s possible for her feelings to have changed as well, or is his return still secretly dreaded by his now beloved Marianne.

This book introduces a couple, Philip and Marianne, who are betrothed through no wishes of their own. An arranged marriage planned by their fathers. Philip’s father has passed away, so he is feeling that he really must go through with this marriage as a “final” wish from his father. However, he is taking his own sweet time. He has sailed away to look at some of his properties for a year, has been back for several days – still not contacting his betrothed – but the BIG PROBLEM – he hasn’t proposed! (I thought of it was an arranged marriage, do they really propose??) Good character interplay with Marianne and her sister Harriet, Philip’s mother and himself, and Marianne’s father with both herself and Harriett. Add in A few characters pursuing the two sisters and some delightful parties, suppers, and romps in the park for a clean, sweet romance. Enjoy! Vicki from Wyoming
The Waiting Bride had my emotions on a rollercoaster ride! In the beginning, I felt frustration towards Lord Phillip and empathy towards Miss Marianne. At times, I wanted to shake both of them for their stubborness! As they finally let down their guard and allowed themselves to get to know each other better, their hearts became engaged and I could finally sigh with relief. They took a long and bumpy journey to each other’s hearts, but the sweetness of their love in the end was all I could have hoped for!

This story is well written and interesting. The male main character is extremely selfish. His counterpart female character is more accommodating than I could ever be
Jealousy makes his heart grow fonder—of his betrothed!
SETTING: Sweet story set in Regency Period of a young couple betrothed by their fathers, without their knowledge or consent, when they had only met briefly one time, the week before. When the young man’s father suddenly dies, Philip Belmont, (Viscount Galsworthy) takes off for India for over a year, ostensibly to oversee his possessions there. However, the truth is he is not eager to marry someone he barely knows, especially as he feels forced into it.
As for Lady Marianne Weston, her feelings reflect those of Lord Galsworthy, she also is feeling forced into a marriage not of her own making. Further, she is hurt by Galsworthy‘s lack of effort to garner her heart, not even proposing before he takes ship to India. Thus, when he returns, and puts off writing or seeing her until his mother’s welcome home party for him, Marianne’s feelings are further hurt. Could you blame her for accepting attentions from another eager suitor?
As Galsworthy dithers back and forth about his obligations to Marianne, Lord Henry jumps right in and plots to steal Marianne right from under his nose! Twists and turns occur so that it is hard to know who to trust- Lord Galsworthy or Lord Henry? Who really cares about Marianne? How is she to know? Will the truth win out?
CRITIQUE: A well-developed story that is clean and has a HEA ending. The young man Galsworthy has quite a bit of maturing to do, which nearly costs him his bride, (and makes the reader wish he would just grow up!) It is jealousy of the relationship he sees developing between Lord Henry and Marianne that helps him to see what he has been denying — affection for Marianne is already in his heart. Although the Hero takes his time maturing, I found the story captivating.

The Waiting Bride by Rose Pearson is another page turner in her Regency Romances. This story pulls you in as you follow Viscount Galsworthy and Miss Marianne Weston. Their fathers had arranged for them to marry but neither one is thrilled with the idea. Enter another suitor for Marianne and things get very interesting. I read way too late to find out what happens. This is a wonderful story that is both informative and interesting about the Regency period. I would recommend this book.
A good, clean Regency romance that kept me entertained and engaged from beginning to end with interesting characters and a well written story about an arranged marriage between Philip Belmont, Viscount Galsworthy, and Miss Marianne Weston. There are some interesting twists and turns that have to do with misunderstandings and another potential suitor for Marianne. Ms. Pearson has given us another winner and I look forward to reading more from this talented author. I received an advance reader copy of The Waiting Bride and this is my voluntary and unbiased review.
Absolutely recommend I loved the story of Lord Galsworty and Miss Weston.
Three and a half stars
Lady Marianne Weston has been waiting for the return from India of her betrothed. But now that he has returned, what’s going to happen?
Lord Galsworthy has lots of doubts about their betrothal: he is not sure he wants to get married and he is not sure how does Lady Weston feel about it?
Best thing is to court her and see if at least they can become friends.
However, when someone gets in the middle and try to separate them, they get desperate to prevent it to happen.
The book is well-written, and the characters are well-developed. The problem, at least for me, is that there is too much thinking and not talking. Sometimes is a bit repetitive, for example, Lord Galsworthy and his apologies.
Apart from that, I did enjoy the book, being the last part my favourite.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
It started with an arranged betrothal. When Lord Philip Galsworthy ran from his duties Miss Marianne Weston patiently waited for his return. But even when he returned he was still running. At times I felt as though he was acting like a child rebelling against his parents when he wasn’t getting his way. He was too wrapped up in his own feelings and it took him awhile to realize how his actions where affecting Marianne. Both had made assumptions based on their own fear. There was a nasty villain who had everyone fooled as to his character but he soon shown his true colors. The only reason I gave it four stars was I would have liked a little more dialog between the H and h. It was a clean read. I am a big fan of Rose Pearson and recommend all of her books.

Great book to read, it has a little of everything in it, love, heartbreak, adventure, crazy man, just to name a few. Philip and Marianne was betrothed in an arranged marriage. Both was not happy about being pushed into a marriage without their consent, so instead of facing it right away Philip runs off the India to look over some family property there and hide out for a year. When he come back he still had to face proposing to Marianne and going through with the arranged marriage. The was another man who wanted Marianne for his wife.. That’s enough to entice you to read this wonderful book by Rose Pearson, I think. So much more happens, exciting and surprising things so go read it for yourself to find out!

Surprising Regency Romance!
Talk about miscommunication. The Regency period is known for arranging marriages and Rose Pearson’s well written novel depicts the awkwardness and insecurities that created. The story starts slowly giving us the backstory but rapidly draws you in. Lord Galsworthy and Marianne have deep, conflicting emotions with regard to their future. The drama, suspense and danger builds when a villainous rival suitor, determined to wed Marianne, uses deceit, lies and treachery to force her to marry him. A real page turner with a very happy ending. Enjoy!
I received an arc copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
A clean romance with lots of excitement! Feelings are hurt when snubbed by a betrothed. Jumping to conclusions makes the situation much worse. Once they finally get on the same page and begin to truly start getting to know each other, things fall apart.
Some unexpected events gives this story a few twists!
Marianne and Lord Philip Galsworthy’s story is well written and kept my interest throughout. There is suspense, drama, danger, shootings, a villain, and romance. This is the first book in The Returned Lords of Grosvenor Square series. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
If there were ever two people who were perfect for each other, Marianne and Galsworthy definitely fit the criteria as they are the most stubborn characters ever. Their fathers have arranged for them to get married, and Galsworthy takes off for India to check on holdings after he inherits the responsibilities at his father’s death and then stretches the trip out to avoid coming back to be forced into marriage. When he finally does come back, both of them make assumptions and act bull-headed and make inappropriate decisions to handle the situation. I really wanted to reach into the book and slap them both at times. To be honest, I thought I wasn’t going to like this book through the first quarter or so the way they were acting. Even knowing all of Rose’s books have happy endings, it seemed impossible for these two to finally end up together. But by the time I was halfway through, I was glad I had extra reading time because I just had to finish it as things started to pick up pace. Something very dramatic finally happens to break their stubborn streaks to finally bring them together and makes for a perfect ending.

Lord Philip Belmont, Viscount of Galsworthy was returning home from India and to his waiting bride. His bride Miss Marianne Weston the daughter of Lord Bridgestone, he ran away from our about a year ago to go to India and check his holdings there. When he returned to England his mother gave a party to welcome him home and Miss Weston came and wanted to know why he couldn’t even write a note telling her he was back as he been back for two days. He then insulted her by telling her he was resigned to marry her. She reminded him that he had yet to propose to her and she expected the proposal soon. To discover whether Marianne ever gets her proposal and if it’s from the right man you have to read the book. It’s a good book… I
It took me awhile to get into story, it was a slow start to me. Meeting character-nothing special about, back and forth between Galsworthy & Marianne with their thoughts mainly about each other. You know something was up with Lord Redmond, but not quite sure what. Then the last few chapters were AWESOME!! I had no idea how far Redmond would go. Loved these chapters, glad I stuck with the story!
