Introducing “The Waiting Bride” – the first standalone book in an exciting new Regency romance series, The Returned Lords of Grosvenor Square! *FREE with Kindle Unlimited*“Earnestly awaiting your return,Marianne Weston”Every letter to Lord Philip Galsworthy from his waiting bride closed with the same words. And they always made his heart sink.He knew the words were not for him, but for their … always made his heart sink.
He knew the words were not for him, but for their families who took great delight in reading the correspondence between them. In truth, Marianne had told him in secret, with great relief to himself, that she too was not excited by the long-held expectation of their marriage.
And so, by excusing himself through duty to King and Country, Lord Philip Galsworthy managed to hold off the wedding for a year with hopes that the two families’ interest in seeing them married would wane.
With more effort he also managed to extend his station in India for another year, and then another, but now there was nothing more he could do.
He had to return home, and the wedding plans would be already in motion by the time his ship saw the shores of England again.
Their ages would not permit any more postponements, and so it was time for him to return and fulfill his duty to house and family.
Only, his time away exposed a loneliness that he never knew was quite there. A loneliness that was only remedied by the regular letters from Marianne, which slowly turned his memory of her from the duty he was trying to avoid to the love he could not live without.
Cringing again at the closing to the last letter he received, Philip wonders if it’s possible for her feelings to have changed as well, or is his return still secretly dreaded by his now beloved Marianne.

Just one word, Wow!
I enjoy this author and this book was no exception. The characters and plot are well written and kept me engaged.
I enjoyed watching each of the characters develop into their true selves as they would open up to the truth. Both in themselves and those they loved.
But the plot took several twists and turns that kept me up reading needing to know how it would all end up.
I look forward to reading more from this author and of the series.
Two characters, long betrothed by heir parents, come back together. Will they find happiness with each other or another? Wonderful characters and an engaging storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was most startled at the twists!
Reminded me of an old fashioned melodrama.
I skimmed most of this book. There is zero action up to the point where someone gets shot. The dialogue is internal thoughts and hesitations to commit, regrets and assumptions.
It’s a sweet story, but too much agonizing from the protagonists got tedious very quickly. Skipped to the last chapter but one and wasn’t at all curious about the middle.
It was cute but I expected a little more from the way the description was worded.
It was ok.
If you don’t know exactly how this book unfolds after ten pages you’ve never read a romance novel. And the writing is mediocre.
Fun story of misunderstand and falling in love
Lame characters. His waffling made me nuts. Skimmed after a quarter of the book and he did not strap them on until the very end. Save your time.
This book was good it took me more to read than I thought it would hope see more from the author keep up the god work

Fabulous, well written book! Love the depths, twists, turns, misunderstandings, and world development. A definite must read.
Lord Galsworthy and Lady Marianne are betrothed, which is arranged by their fathers. They don’t know each other and both resent being betrothed.
They meet a couple of times and Galsworthy flees to India to escape this future, leaving Marianne in England. After a couple of years he returns, but makes a huge mistake and makes no effort to call on her. It’s really frustrating that he’s so juvenile about the whole betrothal. If his mother wants him to do something, basically he won’t do it. On an outing, he sees her and realizes she’s beautiful and maybe he should give her a chance. Shouldn’t he have figured that out when they met before? It isn’t until he sees another man trying to court her that he becomes jealous and decides to finally make some effort. Most of the book is frustrating like this, but the last third of the book, I really enjoyed. If even one of the characters had been more mature about communicating and not been so selfish, the book would have been much more enjoyable. I’ve read quite a few of her books that I’ve loved, but this one was hard to get into and the characters weren’t enjoyable for a large part of the book.

This book was a real pleasurable read with the well written storyline and characters that were so well rounded that I read this book in one evening!
This poor young couple, neither ready for marriage, has there betrothal sprung upon them by their fathers. When his father then dies, making him the Viscount, he takes off for India to look over his holdings. They know each other mainly through a correspondence, in which neither really gave up much of themselves. You’ll read about the mistakes they both make, as well as the less than honorable Lord who tries to win her hand, fair means or foul. I always enjoy Ms Pearson’s characters and storylines, and this was no exception.

This book is fairly relatable in the sense that relationships often fail because of miscommunication and misunderstanding. I rooted for the two main characters to live happily ever after despite their frailties. They are two imperfect people that is perfect for each other. I often wish that they will look beyond their own feelings and thoughts. Fortunately, they were able to!
