The waffle House on the pier is not an easy light read, I thought it was going to be more on the Rom-com side but I got a pleasant surprise.
The waffle House has angst and many situations that will keep you wanting to know more about the story and the characters.
Sadie is tired of her job at least the last part of her teachings is feeling like a big burden, she feels terrified, she is no longer enchanted with her Job now she is eager to finally move on. but tragic and unexpected things happened in her life that she will have to reevaluate where is she headed and what does she want.
so many things happened around Sadie, an ex that has finally move on but still showing up all around her life, a new love that may change her forever. I don’t want to give too much away, but get ready for more drama.
this is a good read, entertainable, with a good story and characters, it is a book that will keep you hooked and will make you want to turn the pages even faster to know what will happen next.
a pleasant book with the right amount of angst to make it even more enjoyable.
The Waffle House On The Pier is the first book of Tilly Tennant that I’ve read. Set in a beautiful seaside locale, it was a pleasant read.
The story got off to be bit of a slow start, I felt, but then sorted itself out. Having made so many career changes, I can well empathize with Sadie, and her confusion about her career. When her grandfather passes away, she realizes that her was really in running The Waffle House and not in teaching. Having two successful siblings didn’t help. There was subtle comparison and a lot of over-protectiveness from her parents and brother. Added to that was the fact that her grandmother was showing signs of dementia and was more of a handicap at the Waffle House. How Sadie, fights through this is essentially what the story is about.
Then there’s her dilemma with Declan, an old boyfriend, who she had broken off from. Somewhere, she regrets that decision and is constantly seeking the comfort of the known and familiar. When Luke makes an appearance, she is swept off her feet by his charm, but stills holds back because of her confusion about her feelings for Declan.
Family, making choices, trying to run a business against all odds, and trying to trust in love again are the threads that run through this book.
In the end, this is a sweet story of following your heart and finding yourself.

Lovely coastal setting, great sense of family and community.
The Waffle House on the Pier tells the story of Sadie, a young woman who is uncertain about her chosen career.
When her grandfather died, and her family decided to close the waffle house he used to run together with her grandmother, Sadie stepped in and offered her help.
She was not expecting things to be easy, but the challenges thrown her way were way more complicated than she could have anticipated.
To make matters worse, she was having a hard time forgiving herself for having broken up with Declan all those years ago when she left for university.
She could still feel their intense connection, but Declan was about to move in with his beautiful girlfriend, Melissa.
And then there was Luke, a new resident of Sea Salt Bay, a lovely guy that could be just what Sadie needed, if only she could let the past go.
The Waffle House on The Pier is a story about dealing with family issues, standing your ground under pressure, and facing the consequences of your decisions.
The beginning dragged a little, but it picked up the pace after a few chapters.
Sadie’s relationship with her grandmother was adorable, and both Declan and Luke were very decent men and definitively marriage material.
I loved the coastal setting and the sense of family and community.
An enjoyable summer read!

Sadie, Sadie, conflicted lady! Romance with some sad realities encroaching on the joy
Of the Tilly Tennant books I’ve read, this one was not among my favorites but was a fine tale of budding romance and family drama by the sea. Lead protagonist Sadie is cloaked in nostalgia for her youth and is not too successful at dealing with the realities of the present which include questionable career choices and an impetuous plan to assist her grieving and ailing grandmother. Sadie’s flaws made her real but a bit too flighty in my eyes. Seems being the youngest of three children has spoiled her somewhat. She’s ready to scarper off on a date in the midst of a family crisis, ignore signs of serious problems hoping they will go away, and is an expert at bickering with her brother and making too friendly with an old flame who’s got a new girl. I guess my inability to adore young Sadie heavily influenced my impression of the story.
The book starts out at a slower pace but picks up towards the end. The romance is sweet and promising (the whole story takes place in a matter of weeks) and the author included some suspenseful drama for Gammy, Sadie’s waffle-making grandmother, and some tense moments in the water for Sadie & co.
Thanks to publishers Bookouture and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
The Waffle House on the Pier by Tilly Tennant a tasty five-star read. This took a while to get into and wasn’t always a five-star read, but for the second half it was most certainly worth it, so I went for it overall. If like me you start this and struggle, do keep reading as it gets so good. This is filled with family dramas of the best kind, and confusion as we all have one that got away, I eventually married mine, but I do know that some were meant to get away, one of the question’s are was Sadie’s? This is light and sweet, but there are some more troubling subjects touched and they really are touching. Sea Salt Bay sounds delightful and a great place to while away a couple of hours, this will be the perfect summer read, especially if you aren’t able to get away, as you can spend some time in Sea Salt Bay and truly feel like you have felt the sea breeze on your face, and tasted the delicious Waffles from the Waffle House on the Bay.
