The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the fifth book in C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, a series that has become part of the canon of classic literature, drawing readers of all ages into a magical land with unforgettable characters for over fifty years. This is a novel that stands on its own, but if you would like to continue to the journey, read The Silver Chair, the sixth book in The Chronicles of Narnia.

My favorite of the Narnia books.
Edmund, Lucy, and their obnoxious cousin Eustace all fall back into Narnia through a picture. They end up in the ocean and are rescued by Prince Caspian, who is on a voyage to find friends of his father’s who sailed from Narnia decades ago.
On their journey, the small party encounters wonders, dangers, and their …
I am reading this whole series to our 14-year-old son and we love how they talk and enjoy the symbolism. Our son is not a fan of Eustace, and he is afraid the next book is going to be all Eustace. We are horribly immature and laughed every single time it mentioned the poop. We liked the part about the dragon, and the magical waters. The book …
It like all of the Chronicles of Narnia is a GREAT story with thought provoking and excellent life lessons !! C.S. Lewis is always worthwhile reading !!!
Great message. I needed this!
The character development (particularly of Eustace) and the brilliant biblical symbolism is incredible. Lewis is a great author!
The character development and brilliant biblical symbolism is incredible! Lewis is such a great writer.
This book was positively delightful! I loved the story, the characters, the writing, the audio reader. Just all of it was fantastic!
C.S. Lewis is an incredible writer. His theological works are deep and thought provoking. Entire college courses have been built around those works because there is so much one could gain from them. And yet, he can …
Delightful, as all the others are! This one I feel is more a pure adventure story–that is to say, seeking adventure for adventure’s sake, rather than for some other purpose. In that sense there isn’t so much a plot. King Caspian, whom the Pevensie children met in the book “Prince Caspian,” is aboard the Narnian Dawn Treader, bound for the end of …
I was gifted the box set of the Chronicles of Narnia as a boy, perhaps 20-25 years ago now. Presently, I am just over halfway through the box set as I read aloud to my 10/G and 7/B. These books are so wonderful to read with the family, so imaginitive, so pure and full of purpose and goodness. They are some of the best books you will ever find …
I enjoyed the whole series. The older British English is tough sometimes though.
This is a classic for a reason; it is a great story. I do recommend reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe first to get the full effect.
This is my favorite book in The Chronicles of Narnia series. Why do I love it? Well, that opening line, for one thing. “There was a boy named Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it.” Doesn’t that make you want to find out why this character almost deserved that name? Yes!
I love the journey between the islands, the magical places and …
My favorite of the series
Every one of C.S. Lewis’ fiction books is excellent, especially his Narnis ones. I believe every young person should have the opportunity to read them (in order). I have read them several times and get something new every time.
Edmund, Lucy, and their cousin Eustace join King Caspian’s quest to find seven banished lords who were loyal to his father. This book is very episodic in nature, but since I love all things nautical, I can’t help loving this book.
It was really quick and easy to read. Highly recommend it for older children who might find reading boring
