Vows.
Savio lives by them.
Dreams.
I exist in them.
Obsessed with a picture, I’m in Rome to get over writer’s block, but more importantly, I’ve come to the Eternal City to find someone. Savio is a broken soul. A French-Italian priest in the capital of the Catholic world, he preaches religious tenets he no longer believes in. He’s also the man I’m looking for. A priest who makes sinners … capital of the Catholic world, he preaches religious tenets he no longer believes in.
He’s also the man I’m looking for.
A priest who makes sinners pay.
Who makes them burn for the temptations into which they fall.
I exist to tempt him, my sole purpose is to save him, and my end goal is Savio—in my bed. My heart. My life.
He’s a fallen soul, desperately in need of a future that takes him away from the sinners who deserve to lose their lives for the evil they reap.
Can I make him break his vows, make him fall to save both our souls before the Devil can embrace us both?
Find out in THE VOWS WE BREAK.

So I started this book thinking… how can a book with a priest be good! Serena has brought this story to life in ways I never expected. Andrea is just full if crazy! I recommend this book to everyone. It has a warning on it but I’m not sure it really needs one. I did love it and hope there will be more with these characters to come. It is a stand alone but if you read it you will know what I’m talking about.
The story just graves hold of you and makes you captive until the very end. So much turmoil and pain on both sides of the story. And all for different reasons. Andra suffers when she can’t help save someone and then at the hands of illness that makes people discredit her. Savio suffered being held captive and tortured with the pain of others. His ptsd and coping methods further that pain and suffering. But his lost ways and him punishing sinners are what draws Andrea to him. His angel there to bring light to his dark and be his other half. Love watching their chemistry and growth as they changed into the couple. And how they felt guided by god to seek justice and correct the wrongs of the world.
Another absolute WIN from Serena!! This book is so unexpected and slightly twisted! A truly truly amazing story!
So wickedly good. The Vows We Break is.. well, I don’t know how to describe it other than, I couldn’t get enough. Savio has been through so much, has seen so much and feels it’s his need to help those in need, in any way he can. Even if that means he breaks his vows in the process.
I absolutely fell in love with Savio’s and Andrea’s love for each other. They’re the perfect soul match.
Oh my goodness this book! I admit, I wasn’t sure about it at first. But then I started reading it and couldn’t put it down. I finished it in a few short hours and was rather surprised by how much I liked it. It is dark, twisty, and addictive. It does have a few things that could trigger people, so make sure you read the warning that comes with it, but overall all,I rather enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this book. I think what sold me on this book was actually the ending. It was absolutely perfect and didn’t leave me wanting more, It just felt complete.
First note: this book contains triggers. Please read the warnings and determine if this is your kind of story. But – if you’re into the taboo, into complex relationships with skillfully written characters, and dark twisting storylines, then you’ll adore this book. It’s another epic story from Serena Akeroyd. Everything from the character development to the unique and engaging plot is perfectly executed. I adore Andrea and Savio. They fall together after conversing very different paths. Their dedication to their work and ultimately to each other is what makes this one a must read. Throw it on your TBR list today!
The vows we break is a different book. While reading it I couldn’t help but think this could have been a great movie. Savio is a deep a complex character, he’s sexy, he’s dark and he is damage. You will live every single scene.
Its hot, sexy, and taboo. I live for Savio. Hes one of my favorite heroes. Hes just amazing. This book was extremely well written, I cant wait to see what comes next.
I’ve literally read this book twice within a couple of weeks because it’s awesome!
It’s so original and I can honestly say I never knew which way it was going to go. It was unexpected and I loved that you couldn’t work out what was going to happen. I love how good of a person, Savio and Andrea are. The scenes are hot, especially Priest Savio… he’s my new book boyfriend!
If you are reading this, definitely give it a read! Serena always writes the most amazing stories that have you hooked from the very first page!
This story! Wow… I love a good taboo romance, especially where priests are concerned and this one… Well it was so much more than I expected! Andrea the angel. She looked over those she cared for. In a way seldom people took the time to. And Savio… he was an angel too… But they didn’t regard their calling the same way.
This story of two soul mates, on a course to collide helped by fate… Fate that took faith to another level. Fate that took two imperfect beings, and allowed them to be perfect for one another. But not perfect in a looking at life through rose coloured glasses kind of way, but perfect in a your mess and my mess, make it so our life paths are easier to navigate kind of way.
Embark on this journey with Savio and Andrea, all the way to the very end… it will make you want to find your kind of crazy to get through this world!
The Vows We Break shook me in a totally new and different way. But before I even started reading it. I found myself wondering if this a new trend or topic that I missed the memo on? This is the second book with a church theme by another favorite author of mine in two months… where the synopsis wasn’t sounding so “Churchy” if that even a word. Then I thought this is was a Serena Akeroyd version of “Christian“ fiction romance and she never “stays in the lines” which I love about her writing. But as I am not Christian and not into religious fiction books at all really because I don’t like it when people do an ill-informed representation of my faith or anyone else’s faith a well. I was almost ready to pass on this until… I remembered this is Lady Serena Akeroyd who wrote this book and with a G. A. Mazurkle and could I pass up on a newly released story? Nope, not a chance.
One of the points in this book that settled me was that people oftentimes speak about religion and faith in extremes… right or wrong, good or bad, heaven or hell, etc but in this book as well as real-life these characters are a mix of both ends of every spectrum to different degrees. There is a balance every and all the characters are crazy in this book. If anything was bashed it was people not faith and I can get behind that. This a new and unique story that I’m so pleased I didn’t pass on reading based on things I was making up in my head about what “might” be in here. I’ll be waiting for some follow-up as always.
I was a little hesitant reading it. I love taboo books but priests normally aren’t my thing. This book was amazing though! Im so glad I decided to take the chance and read it!
First and foremost I have to say that in the beginning of the book there are trigger and taboo warnings. It’s about a priest who breaks his vows, if this offends you then don’t read this wonderful book. If it doesn’t then be prepared for some unexpected things to go down.
I went into this book thinking one way and was totally blown away. It wasn’t at all what I expected from the authors. By the end of the book, I wanted more of Savio and Andrea.
Let’s talk about how this book is a dark romance and a dark thriller. You might say how can it be both at the same time? Well let me tell you a little bit about it.
We have a little bit of fate and destiny in play here. Andrea Jura believes she is an angel and of the light. A fallen angel sent here to save people who need a hand up in life, out of difficult situations. She began her path the first time she saw Savio Martin on TV, she saw his eyes and knew she was destined to be his one day. Until then she continued helping those who needed her.
Savio Martin had a calling to become a priest. After a misfortunate timing of being in the right place at the wrong time, he became a dark avenging angel. Because of this the Vatican wanted him to retire, but he couldn’t, he has work to do. That is until he sees Andrea Jura’s picture on TV. There’s something about her that draws him to her. He doesn’t think anything about her until she shows up at his church and they meet face to face, for the first time. He trie to fight his attraction to her. This is where Dark meets Light.
The way that Serena Akeroyd and G.A. Mazurke write this book is absolutely mind blowing and amazing at the same time. It is a must read, if you can get past a priest breaking several sacred vows that they are sworn to keep. I myself am Catholic and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It should have more than a five star rating.
It’s truly hard to describe how much I loved this story!! Fate can be crazy when it comes to the heart. I fell in love with Andrea and her strong personality and wit. Savio was intense and I swooned for how protective and loving he was!! I definitely recommend this book!!
What an interesting story! It’s definitely a bit taboo. Andrea wants to be everything and all Savio needs. This is a story of soul mates. Two people leading very different lives who seem destined to be together. It’s a really good story. I loved both of the characters and their paths that lead them together.
A priest who no longer believes…a young woman who’s calling is to save those who’ve fallen through the cracks, explosive combination! This book is totally different from the normal great things Serena puts out and welcome to G. A. Mazurke. It has triggers and subject matters maybe not appealing to some so listen to the warnings. But if you want to delve into the taboo, this is your book. I loved it and think it’s one of best of these 2 authors.
This is a dark twisted page turner, these two are so damaged from life that they may be the only ones who can save each other. Fated mates? Andrea thinks so, and after you read this you will too. One of Serena’s most darkest reads to date, this book will stick you in, clench your heart all while you fall in love with these broken damaged souls. This is a 5 star book, if it were possible I’d give it 10! You will never look at faith, religion, love or fated mates the same again.
Two people damaged in different ways but drawn together. One seeking redemption and the other seeking to give it. Over the years Andrea (FMC) & Savio have had a pull to each other but they havent given into it. When Priest Savio is held captive for 2 years by the Algerian Christian Revolutionaires he emerges a darker changed man. Within a few years of that Andrea goes through life changing events that put her on a mission to finally meet Savio. I liked the spin on who is light and dark in this book which isnt necessarily the people you’d expected to be. Classed as delusional because of her beliefs as well as other things Andrea is the lightness to Savio’s dark and his darkness is particularly dark. This is by no means a typical love story thats for sure but in a crazy way you cant help but route for them to get together. I really liked this book. Its a bloody (quite literally) good read
Forgive me father, for I have sinned, I have a crush on a fictional priest.
Damn, does this book take you to church. Truth be told, I was not looking forward to reading this book. Usually, anything to do with the Catholic Church, romance or not, I do a 180 and find some kind of reverse harem and maybe the girl gets tied to a cross. lol. I was wrong. Father Savio did me in. If he was my priest, I may have actually gotten myself up Sunday morning to thank the Lord for Father’s heart and ass, I mean soul. It didn’t hurt that Father had a crisis of conscience when he finally admitted to finding his heart. I fell quickly for this one and trust me, that’s saying something.
