Another great story from AA Abbott, with even more twists than The Bride’s Trail. Orphaned as a teenager, Kat has made a new life for herself in London. Now she’s determined to reclaim her father’s vodka business in the former Soviet Union.Birmingham businessman Marty wants to stop her. That’s not the only reason Kat hates him – she blames him for her parents’ deaths. But when she’s taken hostage … reason Kat hates him – she blames him for her parents’ deaths. But when she’s taken hostage by freedom fighters, Marty alone can help her survive.
Like The Bride’s Trail, The Vodka Trail is a thrilling read, suspense mounting with each page. Will crime pay for terrorist kidnapper Ken or can Kat escape? Who is the mysterious blonde back from the dead? With amazing twists both in Bazakistan and the crazy corporate world of central London, Kat and Marty’s lives hang in the balance.
more
This author plunges you deep into her world full of suspense with so many twists and turns you’ll never know what’s going to happen next.
I think Kat’s my favorite character in this series. She’s spunky and doesn’t put up with what she considers injustice, but she also has a softer, more naive side when it comes to being loved. In this sequel, she’s in more trouble as she attempts to claim the vodka factory, which rightfully should be hers. Her quest takes her into her homeland, where she unwittingly gets entangled in politics and rebellions. There is plenty of action and other surprises to keep you reading straight through to the end. Kat’s character grows by the end when she realizes money doesn’t really buy her the love and acceptance she desires.
I liked this book by AA Abbott. I really felt for Kat as she struggled to reclaim her family’s vodka business. There were definitely some unexpected twists. A good read
In this book, we follow Kat as she tries to get the rights to the vodka factory her parents used to own. This requires an adventure to a dangerous location in the Soviet Republics. A character that she meets at the airport, Marty, becomes a bigger part of her life when it turns out that he is also after the vodka plant. As things spiral, Kat finds herself in danger as she fights for freedom as well as to keep what’s hers.
Plenty of tension and suspense. A cozy little thriller read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I was rooting for Kat from start to finish. She was both fiery and soft at times which I thought was an interesting combination. All the characters were fleshed out, even the bad guys.
I read book one, and it gave good background, but The Vodka Trail can be enjoyed as a standalone. Though I highly recommend you read both books!
I read the Kindle Unlimited version.
This book has some interesting and varied characters. There are a number of threads to the story, which makes you keep reading as you wonder how the author is going to pull them together. There are also some nice twists.
****4.5 stars!****
The trail continues…
The Vodka Trail picks up a few months following the events of Book 1, The Bride’s Trail.
Me (starting the book):
*rubs hands*
“Maybe I’ll get some of those answers I’m looking for.”
Me (after reading the book):
“Oh, you poor deluded soul.”
*smirks*
My running commentary whilst I was reading the story may have gone (insert – did go) a little something like this –
“Seriously?”
“What the…?”
“Odious man… grrr” (Yup, I was talking about Ross The T#ss!)
“Ooohhh…”
“Could it be…?”
“Huh!”
“Well, that sure puts a spanner in the works!”
And, so it went on *snorts*
Like The Bride’s Trail, The Vodka Trail is an addictive read. Kat is more determined than ever to reclaim her family’s vodka business from those she feels stole her birthright out from under her and her brother’s feet. With the backing of her wealthy fiancé *gag*, Kat puts her plan into action.
First stop, return to the country of her birth to start the judicial process. Wait for it, peeps, *rolls eyes* where she is promptly taken hostage for ransom. Sheesh, this girl has like zero luck.
The one man that can save her is the last person she’d ever ask for help from – her father’s old business partner, Marty Bridges.
Yet, all is not as it seems. New players are added to the saga along with new puzzle pieces for the board. Some slot together with those already there so we get an ‘Ah-hah!’ moment, and others leave us with ‘Nope, I got nada! *shrugs*’ moment.
Now, I know in my review for TBT I said Ididntreallylikeanyofthecharacters. Well, I think the worm may be turning, folks! As I said, all is not as it seems, and as I’m coming to realise, you can’t take anything on face value. Motives are everything, no matter how misguided.
Decision made – I’m in this for the long haul, I’m too invested now.
On to Book 3, I’ll catch up with you later *waves*
Although this is 2nd in the Trail Series, it reads quite easily as a stand-alone. As always, I do recommend starting at the beginning of a series, so as to not miss those little gems that make this very good reading. There’s just information in this book to whet your appetite for THE BRIDE’S TRAIL.
Kat White wants to recover her family’s vodka business located in the former Soviet Union. Kat’s parents died in a foreign prison and she has always blamed her father’s business partner, Marty Bridges. Now she wants what Bridges took from her heritage.
Kat is taken hostage by some very scary terrorists, and Marty might be the only one who can save her. But will he?
Although this is a story about taking back the vodka business, it’s more about power and money. How far will some people go to accumulate both?
It’s an action-packed page turner with characters not easily forgettable and unpredictable until the very end. I look forward to the next book in this series.
