From a New York Times bestselling author and her daughter!England, 1673: Lady Violet Ashcroft grew up sheltered in the countryside, far from the dashing gentlemen of the court—and that’s how she likes it. Here on her family’s beautiful, quiet estate, she needn’t fight off suitors who are only after her sizable inheritance, or play second fiddle to her prettier younger sisters. Love and marriage … sisters. Love and marriage aren’t for everyone, and sensible Violet would rather spend her days reading and improving her mind than risking her heart. Until a rather dashing gentleman shows up next door…
Ford Chase, Viscount Lakefield, has had it with women. Who’s got time for them, anyway, when there’s important work to be done? Fresh out of Oxford, Ford is ready to devise his first world-changing invention. All he needs is some peace and quiet on his neglected country estate, where there is no family to nag him and, most especially, no women to distract him—until he’s thrown into the company of the intriguing Lady Violet…

Good story about a period of English History which I’m not very familiar. It was a nice quick read.
I read this book in one day it was great couldn’t put it down till I finished it and it’s so easy to read and surprisingly totally different from other books I have read
Very entertaining! I really hated to have it end!
Excellent research for the historical information !! Great characters and a good story set in that time. Thank you. I look forward to the next in the series.
Clean reading!! Love this series!
I love Lauren Royal’s books. The characters jump out at you. It makes you want to read more about their family.
Having also reviewed “Lily”, I must add that this is another of Lauren Royal’s group of historical romances which all revolve around generations of certain families who meet, some offspring or their friends marry, then have children of their own as her family trees expand.
This is the story of Violet, Lily’s oldest sister.
The families in Ms. Royal’s books are believable people with characteristics we have all met in our lives.
At the end, in the Author’s Notes, she always describes the real-life castles, mansions or landmarks that she cast her descriptions from along with notes on which are available to be visited and when. She also includes many true historic facts in her books.
I find her writing very enjoyable and relaxing.
I really enjoyed characters in this book. I found violet’s family fun and charming. The romance was good with some/several kissing scenes but not too hot and steamy. A pretty clean read. I thought the main character was a little thick headed at times but overall I Liked her character. I read the first book of this series a while ago and liked it, but when I bought this book I didn’t realize it was the 5(?) book in that series (oops!) it was fine to read as a stand alone book but I definitely want to go back and read the other books.
Quick easy read. Easy to follow.
I love Lauren Royal to pieces. She present a family of characters. So there is consistency going from book to book. This is one of a trilogy that really helped underst and ehat it is to have sisters.
I love historic love stories, this was one of many..
Enjoyed the great minds do not have to be boring.
I really liked the people in this book. I also liked the story.
This author knows how to create memorable, complex characters and places them against interesting historical backdrops.
Quick read while being entertained . After some of the tenser books I read, this type of novel is perfect.
A fun book to escape with!
Clean read, liked the characters
