From a New York Times bestselling author and her daughter!England, 1673: Lady Violet Ashcroft grew up sheltered in the countryside, far from the dashing gentlemen of the court—and that’s how she likes it. Here on her family’s beautiful, quiet estate, she needn’t fight off suitors who are only after her sizable inheritance, or play second fiddle to her prettier younger sisters. Love and marriage … sisters. Love and marriage aren’t for everyone, and sensible Violet would rather spend her days reading and improving her mind than risking her heart. Until a rather dashing gentleman shows up next door…
Ford Chase, Viscount Lakefield, has had it with women. Who’s got time for them, anyway, when there’s important work to be done? Fresh out of Oxford, Ford is ready to devise his first world-changing invention. All he needs is some peace and quiet on his neglected country estate, where there is no family to nag him and, most especially, no women to distract him—until he’s thrown into the company of the intriguing Lady Violet…

The time period where people like Christopher Wren, John Locke were men at a party. And spectacles were invented; a watch with a minute hand. There was a little more misunderstanding than was good, but all ended well.
I read the sweet clean version of the book and enjoyed it very much!
I enjoyed reading this book. It enlightened me to the ways of the English ton and how things were done. What was right and what was wrong.
Good read
Lovely book, very enjoyable!
Good read!
“The Viscount’s Wallflower Bride” is a
novel set in England during the late
1600’s. The two main characters are
both intellectuals: Ford loves alchemy
and finds joy in inventing new things.
His eventual lady-love, Violet, loves
philosophy. Ford has so much self
confidence that Violet cannot believe
he is really thoroughly sincere.
However, Ford has completely fallen
in love with her and shows it by
creating romantic settings for them
and also by inventing spectacles to
improve her sight. Violet is so impressed with all of Ford’s real
friends at the Royal Society Ball! They
are all real scientists-Newton, Wren
and Hooker, among others. At this
party, Violet’s mother makes sure that
Violet’s dress fits beautifully in all the
right places. So everyone is infatuated
with the lovely Violet! Well, after much
self doubt and deliberation, the two
finally marry, so both families are joyous along with the happy couple.
Thanks for creating such unusual,
memorable and loving characters!!

It was an enjoyable story which was a refreshing respite from the overly sensual
books which are now the norm. I really enjoy the romance genre and am happy to just enjoy reading an entertaining clean story.
All this author’s books are enjoyable to read.
I liked it.
Romantic. Loved it he family
somewhat predictable but a fun read
This is the “clean” version of the book under the title “Violet”.
Delightful! Charming! If I could give this book six stars I would. Set in seventeenth century England, the author pops in John Locke, Christopher Wren, and other notable scientists as the friends of the main characterFord, Lord Lakeland. Coupled with the other main character, Lady Violet, the two characters present a romantic look at scholarly and scientific discovery in that period. Why romantic? Because Ford meets Violet, realizes Violet’s vision is not the greatest, and presents her with a pair of spectacles three days later. The book also has a wonderful focus on family. Violet is close to her two younger sisters, Rose and Lily and her brother Rowan. Ford is close to his siblings, in-laws, and seven nieces and nephews. In fact, his niece Jewel and Violet’s brother Rowan form the core of the book’s opening chapters. You will love this book written by a mother-daughter team.
A truly fun book to read.
It’s nice to read a book with all the heat and none of the nasty uncomfortable stuff.
