What’s not to love about this amazing story of Sirena, an Irish lass with a secret touch in dealing with horses, fey abilities and a determination to find out what happened to her brother that supposedly has died. Spies, good and bad, intrigue, secrets, scandal, danger, strong emotions and an attraction that could not be denied.
Having lost everything, Sirena was now in the companion of Lady Jane, her neighbor once who had taken her in. They go to London and she and Jane go to a ball where she is determined to find out if the Earl of Shaldon or his son, the heir James, Viscount Bakeley knows about her brother. The father warns the son to stay away from Sirena, but James is drawn to her and remembers her from years ago.
Immerse yourself in a story that will quickly carry you along from one page to the next as these two make their journey rife with twist and turns and surprises. Truly loved this story and want to go back and read book 1 and all the rest in this series!! Don’t miss it!

An awesome read.
The book starts with Sirena facing the loss of everything important in her life. There is a mystery or two in this engaging tale too. A bit of magic will even give the reader more of a treat. There are also two brothers who find out about their dead father and believe it they kind of doubt the man is dead. The characters were great and there is so much in this book. This Regency romantic suspense was an awesome read. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Sirena Hollister was grooming the horse, the only thing that kept her calmed down with her parents on edge. Old Patrick told her she had about scraped all the hair off of her! Her mother had told them bad news was coming, and she heard the horse’s hooves heading toward them. Was this it? The message had arrived and Sirena raced back to the house to hear it. Jaime had wanted to go to the new world and Papa allowed it. Siena had dropped a chain with Gram’s magical Brighid knot round Jamie’s neck— the old magic of Queen Brighid — and made him promise to bring it back to her. When Papa broke the seal and opened the parchment, he read that they found a body. Her dearest brother, Jamie, was dead, and the twisted gold charm that dropped to the floor noiselessly was the proof of it.
The Earl of Shaldon, known as the Spy Master, has been pressuring his heir, James Everly, Viscount Bakeley, to find a woman to marry. Lord Bakeley’s younger brother Charles is also at the ball and about to dance with the same young lady twice when Shaldon sends Lord Bakeley over to take his place. Lady Sirena Hollister, the daughter of the Irish Earl of Glenmorrow, is attending the ball as the paid companion to Lady Jane Monthorpe. She meets Lord Bakeley who appears to be interested in her but is having a problem finding out who she is as the dance keeps them moving away from each other before she can answer his questions. But Lord Bakeley thoroughly enjoys annoying his father so he keeps showing interest in Sirena. Her being Irish also draws him to her since his father will never approve of her and has placed her off-limits.
Sirena is looking into Lord Shaldon, suspicious that he may have had something to do with her brother’s disappearance and it may not have been an accident. Her father lost everything to drink when his son died, selling off their prized horses to the Earl of Shaldon. By the time her father died, there was nothing left for Sirena’s future. Will Lord Bakeley pursue his interest? Is he pretending or actually willing to contemplate marriage? Will Sirena find out the real truth about her brother and Lord Shaldon’s possible part in what happened?
This book was very well-written, with a wonderful and intriguing story line the reader will enjoy. The characters revealed their emotions and became more real to the reader. The story’s pacing was perfectly done and kept the interest up throughout the story. Grab your copy and enjoy the strong female characters who are not afraid to stand up for themselves.
