Can Emily find the courage to save herself and give her heart to the man she truly loves?Miss Emily Smythe has loved Viscount Wickton ever since she set eyes on him. Having always been a quiet wallflower, she lacks the courage to tell Lord Wickton the truth about how she feels. However, Lord Wickton does not appear to be at all interested in her and, despite her sorrow, Emily decides that she … decides that she will have to allow Lord Davenport to pursue her instead.

When witnessing Lord Davenport’s callous treatment of Miss Smythe, Arthur finds himself suddenly determined to stop their courtship – only to suddenly find himself trapped and unable to get to Miss Smythe.

Ms. Alec knows how to write books that engages your heart from the first words. Emily is such a sweet character. Most think she is a wallflower, not wanted by any man as his wife. Lord Davenport just enough attention to her that she begins to think he is the one for her. Lord Wickton, a brother to a friend, has never given Emily much thought. His feelings begin to change when they are able to reconnect after a long year. Unfortunately, Lord Davenport continues his wicked ways and tries to permanently separate Emily and Arthur.
I have to say that once I started the book, I did not put it down until the end. I continued to hope with each passing page that despite Lord Davenport’s vile attempts to change the course of fate, Emily and Arthur would some how find their forever happiness.
Truly enjoyable!

This is the first book I have read by this author. It isn’t a long read and I finished it very quickly. I think I may look for other books by this author to read. The book is a easy read and can be fun at times.

An awesome book entertaining, captivating and interesting read with kidnapping, murder, and deceit. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. My free opinion. Thanks
Miss Emily Smythe was a mousy wallflower that Viscount Arthur Wickton’s sister from the last book was friends with. She has had a crush on him for years, but he’s never really noticed her. Emily draws the attentions of Lord Davenport, a fickle rake who is only after her dowry and wants her because he feels she will be biddable enough to not question him continuing his rakish ways after marriage. Arthur realizes how dastardly he is and threatens to tell Emily, but before he can do so the driver of his hackney is shot in front of him and he is kidnapped. He has figure out how to escape, so he save Emily before it’s too late from Lord Davenport. Or maybe the wallflower will stand up to the bully and save him first?
Aside from feeling like Wickton was an entirely different character from the first book and that the plot seemed a little desperate, this was a well written and entertaining story.

This is dramatic, suspenseful and romantic. The story is interesting, but it also unnecessarily repeats things. Wickton is unassuming, protective, chivalrous and impulsive. Davenport is pompous, rude, condescending and determined. Emily is timid, sweet, vulnerable, bold and brave. Emily had spent her seasons being a wallflower until Lord Davenport started calling on her. Wickton is Emily’s best friends brother, and he promised his sister he would watch out for her. Only he didn’t, he stayed at home after his sister’s wedding and completely forgot about Emily. When the new season started he went back to London to check on Emily and immediately ran into her at the park, being escorted by Davenport. Which for some reason made him upset. Then he saw her at a ball, and while he spoke to her, it wasn’t as warmly as it had been in the past. That confused her, he had always liked talking to her, but didn’t seem interested anymore. Dealing with a future that consisted of either marriage to Davenport, because he was the only man to ever show an interest, or be shipped off to an elderly aunt in Scotland, she felt that Davenport was the better option. But she didn’t know his character. At one ball, he had reserved the dinner dance, then blew her off. Wickton didn’t take kindly to that and confronted him later that night. Then disappeared. Emily was frantic to find him, did everything she could to find out what happened to him. Davenport showed his true colors, and neither Emily nor Wickton were able to escape his nefarious plans. It was a really good storyline, unique in the way the characters behaved, and a twist I did not see coming at the end.

A beautiful story that will entertainment you until the end…
A sweet young lady… a callous man… and a lord that will do all in his power to protect her…
An incredible plot…
A book for all….
Emily Smythe is a rather shy young woman who has loved her friend Charlotte’s
brother for a long time while he sees her as a nice person he really gives her no more thought. Lord Arthur Wickton came across Emily in the park and she stopped to talk when another gentleman came up to her she instantly rose and walked away with him, why it caused him to be taken back with this he didn’t know. Seeing how this man Lord Davenport treats Emily at balls and such has caused Arthur to worry for her .feelings being hurt by Davenport. He tries to be there if she needs and finds he has more feelings for her than he knew, but he doesn’t know how she feels, and so it begins who will love pick to shine upon Wickton or Davenport and does Emily want either.

The Viscount’s Heart is a part of the Weddings & Scandals series and I just was thrilled to get to return to this world and it’s amazing characters. This book was just so good and I just lost myself in the story. I will most definitely be reading more books by this wonderful author.
This story is full of surprises, twists and turns. It has pure evil against those who are” thought” to be weak.
Emily and Wickton have a hard road to reach their HEA. The kidnapping of Wickton by her suitor and her uncertainty of being a wallflower all added to the fun and uniqueness of this story. Good strong characters and a fun and interesting story. Great read

I felt it was difficult to stay engaged with the characters and the story. I found nothing surprising or new in the tale. I stopped reading after 25% of the book. Wallflower loves best friend’s brother but it is unrequited, pressure from an uncaring father to marry or be shipped off, being courted by a dubious character and duplicitous in his words. The hero tries to come to her rescue only to fall into danger with the man courting his friend. I’ll pass on this one.
This book was astoundingly good. It was an impressive story of love and intrigue. It kept me turning the pages while biting my nails. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
Viscount Arthur Wickton had been asked by his sister, Charlotte, to go to London and make sure her best friend, Emily Smythe, did not merely wilt away as the other wallflowers at the balls. Charlotte had been getting married and went off to her honeymoon with her husband, and that was the last Arthur thought of his promise. He went back to his estate to rest a bit, then one thing led to another and he forgot. Now he was back again and was seated on a bench in the park. He heard someone call to him and Miss Smythe walked up with her maid, asking to sit next to him. As they were talking, Lord Davenport walked up, his eyes on Miss Smythe. He offered Miss Smythe his arm and Arthur was confused that he felt anger and frustration at this. He announced that he would continue his walk, and noted her smile slide away. Why did he feel like this? They were mere acquaintances or else he would have come back to London for her last year. She now had someone to court her – so why did he feel such disappointment? There was something about Lord Davenport that he just didn’t like.
Lord Davenport had been calling on Miss Smythe for a fortnight now; so she was bothered at the way he made his way around the ballroom. The man she really wanted was Lord Wickton, but Lord Davenport was a good distraction for now. Her father had told her if she did not wed, he would find a position for her as governess or companion, neither of which she found appealing. Lord Wickton was at the ball and brought her champagne. As Lord Davenport entertained three young ladies at once, Lord Wickton returned to her when he saw her wince and asked if she needed his help. She saw Lady Josephine, who had been cruel to her earlier, step up to Lord Davenport right before the supper dance that he had promised to Miss Smythe. She jumped up, furious, as Lord Wickton kept her from losing her balance and asked again if there was a problem. Lady Josephine put her hand on Lord Davenport’s arm and he led her onto the dance floor as Miss Smythe’s legs crumbled. Lord Wickton caught her and led her out to his carriage to take her home.
Arthur went to White’s to question Lord Davenport’s treatment of the lady. He admitted he needed a wife for an heir and wanted one who would not question him about what he does and who he sees. He had no issue with taking a mistress. Miss Smythe had a large dowry, and that made her a good choice. But he had no compassion for her feelings. Arthur was furious and told him he would tell her the truth, that he would marry her himself before he allowed Davenport to mistreat her like this. But Davenport assured him he would never allow him to interfere, and he let him walk away. What would Davenport do to make sure Arthur stayed out of his plans? Was Arthur in danger? Did Arthur finally realize his own feelings for Miss Smythe?
This was a wonderful story with lots of suspense to pull the reader in! It became more and more obvious that something wasn’t quite right with Davenport’s courting of Miss Smythe. But was he really that set on his cruel plan? Would he risk everything to get his own way? Grab this exciting book and find out what the future holds for them all!
What a delimma for her. She has someone she cares for, but when he does not seem interested lets someone else pursue her instead. Then the one she wants is interested after all. Seems like it is too late for both of them or is it? She should have given it a little more time as it is not always wise to settle for something or someone else. Lot of emotion in this one. Along with twists and turns, drama, suspense, excitement and much more. I recommend it. I received a review copy on booksprout and voluntarily review it.
