ANTHONY’S STORY
This time the gossip columnists have it wrong. London’s most elusive bachelor Anthony Bridgerton hasn’t just decided to marry—he’s even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended’s older sister, Kate Sheffield—the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate’s the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams…
Contrary to popular belief, Kate is quite sure that reformed rakes do not make the best husbands—and Anthony Bridgerton is the most wicked rogue of them all. Kate’s determined to protect her sister—but she fears her own heart is vulnerable. And when Anthony’s lips touch hers, she’s suddenly afraid she might not be able to resist the reprehensible rake herself…

I absolutely loved the bee-sting scene! Delightful book-well worth your time.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is the one that started my love of Julia Quinn and all things Bridgerton (and the reason I have a shelf just for historical romance).
I read this book a long time ago…but picked it up again because I remembered loving the Bridgerton series. This story is wonderful, even the second time around. 🙂 Highly recommend!
I absolutely LOVED all of the banter in this book. And the hyper-competitive sibling croquet game — so much fun!
A hero terrified of bees, a runaway corgi, an overturned carriage and so much more. This enemy to lovers novel is simply delightful. I’m reading it for the second time and still can’t put it down! Love it!
I’ve read this book more than once. The dynamic between the main characters is wonderful and witty. I mean, the Mallet of Death says it all! I feel it’s one of Julia Quinn’s best books.
Sigh. I loved Anthony and Kate. This series is just amazing. I love how easily the banter and dialogue flow. The siblings remind me so much of my own. I laughed hysterically through the game they played. It was like watching it unfold live. I can’t get enough.
The Viscount Who Loved Me is, to me, the first in the Bridgerton family series. Anthony, the oldest son, inherited the title Viscount after his beloved Fathers death. He’s determined to care for & protect not only his family but his title too. Anthony thinks he’s found the perfect lady, with every qualification on his list, who is by the way in love with another man. Unfortunately he’s attracted to her older sister, Kate, whom he butts heads with every time they’re together. They also keep finding themselves in rather compromising situations. One of these moments leads to a necessary engagement. They’re just going to have to make the best of the situation. Turns out that attraction and the compromising situations were all the act of falling in love. Their happily ever after is a given and it turns out they are made for each other (duh). All of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton family books will stand up by itself but I had fun starting with Anthony and working my way through the rather large family. Enjoy and keep in mind that there is more of this terrific family available.
A fun enemies to lovers tale. It was great to see the Bridgertons through someone else’s eyes in this second book. I’m looking forward to watching them all grow up and find HEAs now!
So much heart in this book. Kate and Anthony were such a love match!
I enjoyed this book much more than the first book in the series. The witty banter between Anthony and Kate had me laughing out loud numerous times while reading. Intelligence and humor always make romance so much better. I wasn’t sure I was going to continue with this series, but now I have decided to give book three a shot. Four stars!
From the whole series, this was the book I was more curious to start reading and I’m so happy it didn’t disappoint me!
Anthony is that grumpy male character that always gets to my heart and I don’t know if it was because we have some things in common, but I really connected with him. I also have a soft spot for female characters that have some fight in them so it was impossible not to love Kate and how direct she was.
Kate and Anthony story is also a blast. Their scenes were so hilarious but they also had some cute, beautiful and even heartbreaking moments.
I’m so excited to continue this series but I think this is going to be my favorite couple. Let’s see!
I actually liked this book better than the first. Enemies to lovers is my favorite troupe and Quinn did it well. I think Anthony was a complex character that surprised me. From watching the show and reading the first book, those characters traits didn’t come through. And Kate was fabulous. I cannot wait to see how they make this into a Netflix show.
Viscount, Anthony Bridgertons, a known rake, decides it’s time to get married. He doesn’t want to marry for love, because his father died young he thinks he will also. When two sisters arrive in London for their debut to society Edwina, 17, is a blonde beauty and Kate, 21, a Brunette and pretty but not a beauty. Anthony decides to marry Edwina but he must get Kate’s approval. He can’t stop thinking of Kate. She is a force to be reckoned with. Truly a Wonderful story.
The narration by Rosalyn Landor is terrific.
Great book. I couldn’t put it down.
First, I must admit, I am a huge fan of Julia Quinn’s books.
I have loved many of her stories. I believe this may be my favorite.
Kate is an older sister to an “Incomparable” young lady. Edwina is absolutely stunning. And since both of them are having their come outs in the same season. There are many comparisons being made. Kate will never win any comparison with Edwina. She is perfectly acceptable, she simply is not an “Incomparable”.
Kate is outspoken, strong and not at all like most young ladies of the ton. She is not a graceful dancer, she does not do the activities which are expected of young ladies of the ton.
Kate loves Edwina and the feelings are mutual. These two girls are not only sisters, but also best friends.
That is one reason Kate is very concerned that Anthony, Viscount Bridgerton will make a bid for Edwina. That man is a rake of the worst order. He has no consideration for women. Edwina is such a gentle young woman, he would break her heart. And Edwina has announced to the world that she will not choose any man who does not receive Kate’s approval
Anthony’s activities are regularly written about in a gossip sheet. So, everyone knows what kind of man he is. When Anthony decides he must marry, he also decides he will choose Edwina.. She will make a perfectly fine wife for him. No muss, no fuss. He knows he can manage her.
Kate is a woman who speaks her mind. And although it is shocking, she continually lets Anthony know exactly what she thinks of him. The two of them are automatically drawn into difficulties. Both are willing to challenge the other and neither one is willing to admite defeat.
This is a book filled with laughter and affection and love. Kate and Edwina and Mary, are a small family who love one another. The many Bridgertons also love one another,. Of course that does not mean they are not the most competitive group on the planet.
Kate and Anthony go from being enemies, to accepting one another as friends. But, when they are spied in a compromising position, they must become a married couple.
I enjoyed this book and I would suggest that anyone who likes to laugh and smile and see the slow blossoming of a deep and abiding love will enjoy this book.
This is a fun read, written by a talented author.
Well as I first read Romancing Mister Bridgerton #4 and then An Offer From a Gentleman #3 it just seemed right that the next book would be The Viscount Who Loved Me #2.
This family just gets me every time. I really, really loved Kate and Anthony’s story, it is definitely a well written and passionate love story. Kate and Anthony are two lovely character’s and I loved reading how they fell in love and everything the had to go through to get their happily ever after.
This is book 2 of the series. It starts with a little back story on Anthony’s father who passed away 10 yers ago. Anthony is the Viscount and if you have read the Duke and I you know he is a rake but that he has helped to raise his family. He is running the land nd helpin his mother. But his mother wnts her children happly married. Ever since his fthers deth he has this fer that he too will pass awy young so marriage with out love would be the way to go .
Kate Sheffield (21)who has lost her mother at a young age and her father a few years ago is going to court with her sister Edwina who is 17 beuatiful, smart, caring basically everything a man wants in a wife. Kate is also beautiful smart and very protective. Although she is not as stunning as her half sister. Her sister catches the eye of Anthony and she know he is rake and not good for her sister. So she makes apoint to try to keep them part. They have a lot of time talking or fighting sort of like flirting in reverse. Although they are attracted to each other she does not want to be for many reason one his reputtion as rake and two he wanted her sister first but she is drawn to him. For him it is almost the same except he feels the spark of attraction and knows he could love her but because of his fear . He chooses to ignore it. But then a twist happens to them and forces them into a way that they have you marry and they both come together in the end. There is lot of witty come backs and there is a wonderfully fun scene where they are playing game and they take it extreme level of trying to win it had me laughing out loud. I loved this book and can not wait to read book 3
Kate and Anthony’s love story was soooo delightful. I loved reading about their circumstances and their coming to be. It seems that my days are now filled with wonderful historic romance.
I’d definitely recommend this second installment of the Bridgerton series.
I actually enjoyed reading The Viscount Who Loved Me more than I ever imagined I would. I didn’t particularly enjoy The Duke and I. I favoured the scenes in the first book that weren’t included in the Netflix series, so I’m now thinking the reason why I enjoyed this book so much is due to having no screen adaptation to compare it to. Yes, I could visualise Anthony and the other characters in the book that we’ve already seen on screen, but that’s never been an issue of mine when reading any story.
The Viscount Who Loved Me has a great storyline. It is Anthony Bridgerton’s turn to find his spouse, and as a renowned rake I was interested to witness Anthony find his wife – never believing that love could be a possibility for him.
I absolutely adore Kate. She has the most fabulous personality and is someone I would love to be good friends with. I’m now hoping that the planned screen adaptation doesn’t change a thing about her. I loved her interactions not only with Anthony but all the characters. Kate is fabulous and her sense of humour is evident throughout this story. She is a great addition to this series.
I award The Viscount Who Loved Me 4 stars. I do feel that I would have liked more to the storyline. I honestly didn’t expect to be recommending a historical romance story to you to read. I never believed after all these years it would be my thing
Great!
