Filled with the enticing blend of suspense and romance Coble is known for, “devotees of Dani Pettrey, Brenda Novak, and Allison Brennan will find a new favorite here.” After her husband, Jack, dies in a climbing incident, Shauna has only her five-year-old son and her helicopter charter business to live for. Every day is a struggle to make ends meet and she lives in constant fear of losing even … constant fear of losing even more than she already has.
When her business partner is murdered, his final words convince Shauna that she’s in danger too. But where can she turn? Zach Bannister was her husband’s best friend and is the person she blames for his death. She’s barely spoken to him since. But right now he seems her only hope for protecting her son.
Zach is only too happy to assuage his guilt over Jack’s death by helping Shauna any way he can. But there are secrets involved dating back to Shauna’s childhood that more than one person would prefer to stay hidden.

Awesome book
I borrowed an audiobook copy of this book from the local library and thoroughly enjoyed the book. After her husband Jack dies in a climbing accident, Shauna has nothing but her helicopter business to support her and her young son. She blamed Jack’s climbing partner and friend, Zach for his death. When her friends, Clarence and Lucy are both murdered, things begin to heat up. Acceptance and forgiveness are themes in the plot of this book. Again, Colleen Coble has written a book with a great blend of romance, and suspense as Shauna and Zach work together to solve the mystery.
Brilliant! I always look forward to Colleen Coble’s novels. This one is an excellent beginning to this series. I was immediately immersed into the story. The twists and turns kept me turning the pages. I so appreciate the spiritual truths woven throughout the pages.
Recommend to readers who enjoy clean, inspirational, romantic suspense.
I won a copy. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
Faith based trust in the middle of dangerous circumstances in this book filled with suspense and developing romance as well as surprises along the way. A well written tale that also uplifts the spirit. Loved it.
Enjoyed the strong female lead. I am wondering if there will be a sequel. Several points of the story are not resolved.
Colleen cobble is a sure thing!
Good reading
This was the first book by Colleen Coble that I’ve read and it won’t be my last! I enjoyed the characters and the story. The story was suspenseful and interesting, one of those one sitting hard to put down reads. Shauna is trying to keep her life moving on with her young son now that her husband died. Her partner is killed in an explosion at his house. But he told Shauna something before he died and he gave her something. Shauna is forced to accept help from her late husband’s best friend. The story becomes more and more suspenseful as more of the truth is revealed. But the identity of the person behind everything is kept well hidden until the very end.
Another great read !
Could not put this book down – when I had to do other things, I was still thinking about it. Colleen Coble is an excellent storyteller and great with details. Loved the characters.
I usually like her books, however the main character put herself in too much danger to be realistic. Too predictable.
Whoa. Another amazing novel from Colleen Coble. I can’t say enough good things about her writing and stories. This book has amazingly realistic characters, a fast paced plot, and deep, moving themes that leave you with something to take away from it all. What more could one want in a novel?
The View from Rainshadow Bay (Lavender Tides #1) by Colleen Coble

Christian romance, fiction
I received a digital ARC of this book from Thomas Nelson via NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased review.
Shauna McDade is a young widow with a 5-year-old son, Alex, who lives in Lavender Tides, a small town near Seattle. She enjoys her work flying a helicopter to get aerial photographs of Puget Sound and Mount Ranier.
Zach Bannister operates an emergency plane transport business at Harriman Roost Airport, a small busy airport he built after getting out of the Coast Guard. He had been best friend’s with Shauna’s husband, Jack, until his accidental death for which he grieves everyday. He had been with Jack that day during one of Zach’s thrill seeking adventures which ultimately cost Jack his life. Once an integral part of their life, Zach has now been outcasted by many who blame him for encouraging Jack to participate in his risky mountain climbing trek.
A year later, Shauna and Zach are brought together after the mysterious death of a close friend. They begin to unravel a secret which seems to explain a few deaths which were once deemed “accidental”. The book had many overlapping stories which add depth to the characters as well as the novel itself.
This novel would appeal to anyone who enjoys a dramatic story with mystery and romance. The Christian undertones in the book provide a supportive aspect to the characters rather than overshadow the theme of the story.

This book starts out with suspense and doesn’t let up until the last page. Jack and Shauna have to resolve old issues in order for them to be able to solve the mystery of who is killing Shauna’s friends and trying to kill her. Not only does Shauna have to worry about her life but the life of her young son.
I highly recommend this book to all suspense readers. As will all Ms. Coble’s books this one did not disappoint.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
It kept my attention the whole time I read. The characters were unique.
This is a suspenseful story, but not graphic. The two main characters seem realistic and it has been an entertaining book.
I love the way Colleen Coble writes her books. There is a spiritual side, a suspense and a romantic interlude. The books are everything I chose about the book. Her, Terrie Blackstock and Dani Petrey are my favs. I have read everything they have produced and “patiently” wait for the next book.
Loved this book from beginning to end! A who done it that kept you guessing up to the end! Definitely worth reading!
Fan of Colleen Coble- she never disappoints.
