I received a copy of this book from The Fiction Guild. I was required to give a favorable review. The was another wonderful book from Colleen. It has a wonderful storyline as well as the suspense when you try to figure who did it. When you have the loss of cherished people under abnormal circumstances you want to find out who did it. And it is up to to Zach, Shauna and the Sheriff to figure it all out. And to find out it all started with the death of Shauna’s mom any years before. I would recommend this book any any of the writings to Colleen to take a book and start reading.
This latest book by one of my favorite authors oozes with mystery and intrigue and keeps you guessing till almost the end. The first paragraph grabs your attention and you won’t want to put it down. This New Series titled A Lavender Tides Novel could be the best yet. I will anxiously wait for the next installment due out in June. I love the characters and want to learn more about them. My favorite quote from Zach to Shauna is, “None of us knows what the future brings. We only know we are safe in the Lord’s arms…..” I won’t finish the paragraph as you need to read the beautiful words for yourself. If you like mystery peppered with a little romance and faith to boot then you won’t want to miss out on this one.
I received a complimentary copy from Thomas Nelson & Zondervan Fiction Guild. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
I love all of the books Ms Coble has written and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. Shauna McDade is a twenty something helicopter pilot in the beautiful Northwest. She is tasked with raising her young son, Alex, on her own after the death of her husband a year earlier in a tragic climbing accident. Now she has to ask his best friend Zach to help out by going on a hike with her son. Zach, the one her husband always loved to spend time going on adventures with. Zach, the one who was to blame for her husband’s death. Zach, the one she couldn’t stand to look at anymore. Now something mysterious is going on and Shauna is right in the middle of it but she doesn’t know why. Someone wants her dead and she has to find out who’s behind it before they get to her or her son. But can she do it on her own or will she have to ask Zach for help? And where does the mystery necklace fit in?
While still reading, I became increasingly concerned and conflicted in how to assess and rate this book. The premise was interesting and original and the mystery was intriguing with several creative story elements that keep me reading and had my rating floating at four-stars. However, I grew restless and annoyed with the uneven pace and quality of the writing as some storylines dragged and became tediously repetitious, while others seemed rushed. Ms. Coble excelled in her creation and colorful descriptions of the quirky small town and its characters as I could well envision the historical and antiquated buildings, persnickety mother-in-law, and a somewhat inept middle-aged Elvis-wannabe sheriff with a thick mane full of product who had somehow managed to snare a young model for a wife. That image still brings a smile to my lips.
good thriller
