“Oh, darling. You’re going to be so easy to conquer.” His finger reached under my chin and pulled my face back to meet his. “I can’t wait to strip you out of that dress and watch you crawl around my home naked. I’m going to spank that delectable ass with every damn pervertible I can find. Hairbrushes, wooden spoons, spatulas, and I might even try a damn baking sheet. That ass of yours is always … always going to be prettily pink and perfectly swollen while you’re under my roof.”
My name is Mark Matthews. I own half of London, and the part I don’t own, I’m working on.
Life was all going swimmingly well until Michael Redcliff entered my life, demanding that I marry his daughter. Actually, swap demand for blackmail. He’s got goods on me that I want no one else to see, so for the time being I need to be his little lapdog.
I’ll marry his daughter. I’ll give him all the status, money and power he can handle… for as long as it takes me to get a divorce. You see, I can’t renege on our little arrangement – but she can. I give her a week. One week and she’ll be screaming the place down for her legal counsel.
I am never wrong.

C. P. Mandara is a new to me author, so when Booksprout offered an ARC for The Velvet Chair and I thought I would try it. When I recited the book I wasn’t aware it was part of an interconnected series and actually the seventh book in Mark and Jenny’s story. Had I known all of that, I would never have started the book. So if you are looking for a kinky, steamy standalone, pass this by. In fairness to the author, I gave it 3 stars, but I found it difficult to enjoy.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
He’s duped into marriage.
And the part that wasn’t cool?
He took his anger out on Jennifer who was a pawn of her father. She’s not the one who trapped him.
Purchased.
I really enjoyed reading this story, and let me just say its not for the faint hearted. Both Mark and Jennifer are forced into a Marriage by Jennifers father, Mark believes that Jennifer has made a fool of him and now Mark is out for revenge, but really revenge isnt all that sweet because he finds that his sexy wife. She is a Masocist and just loves pain.
The only thing that i kept on wondering was, what happened to them before hand?. A BDSM club will make or break her?
This is really worth 5 stars…. just great!!!!
A forced marriage between a strong, dominant businessman and a wealthy, pampered woman leads to quite an enigma. How much hate can one person carry? Is there love involved? How much power can one angry individual wield?
This story is frightening, exciting, arousing and full of BDSM. I could not stop reading! What is going to happen next? This narrative introduced me to ideas and implements that I had never heard of or thought of before. A few times I had to google or Youtube to figure out what some of the punishment items were and how they were used. What an intriguing book utilizing a variety of humiliating, tormenting and pleasure/pain items.
To be truthful, I read this book a while back, when I was just learning about various lifestyles. I had no idea how to do a review of a story so incredibly emotional and gut wrenching, but I am giving it a try now. C.P Mandara is an excellent, soul-shattering, DARK writer. Just read her work for yourself and find out.
Did not care for this book!
I did not know this was only part of the story, I was disappointed that it did not stand alone. I am not reading nay of the subsequent installments. I wish there were more of a disclaimer that the story would not finish in the one book. Then, to get the story’s completion, you need to buy books, a bit disappoint! I have Kindle unlimited and I try to read only book that are covered in my month billing.
It was a good read and couldn’t put it down
Clearly it would be beneficial to read the previous books/series, but I’m not sure that genre is up my alley. For this book, a lot happened very quickly.. too quickly. I had a difficult time getting into the lead characters. The author wrote detailed explanation of how the hero or supporting characters like to dress, yet handles the description of torture like it’s no big deal. Just a bit weird for me.
What did this have to do with a velvet chair?
Loved it!!
would recommend
Easy read.
It was beyond bdrm. It was just sexual torture for the whole book. I felt like I missed a previous book.
