He kept his salacious secret for years. But soon, everyone is going to be reading about it in their morning paper… be. He’s got a secret, one that will tarnish his reputation forever.
THE VOYEUR (and the VARLET)
Josey Kavanagh is a self-proclaimed mess, but she’s finally get her shi…uh, act together. She’s set her sights on becoming a veterinarian, but there’s one teeny tiny road bump. Her living arrangements are coming to an abrupt end, leaving Josey homeless and in need of a job to pay her way through college.
THE PLAN
What he needs is a companion to keep him on the right path.
What she needs is an apartment with free rent.
Will is convinced Josey will make the perfect companion, since she’s brutally honest and basically ‘just one of the guys.’ Josey is convinced she can ensure Will doesn’t succumb to his voyeuristic proclivities by keeping a scrupulous eye on him.
Except, what happens when the varlet is tempted by the voyeur, and vice-versa?!
Perchance something very, very volatile. And vexing.
The Varlet and the Voyeur is a full-length romantic comedy novel, can be read as a standalone, and is the 4th (and last) book in the USA TODAY bestselling Rugby Series

***5 ‘Everything Was Coming Up Josey’ Stars***
Even without knowing the title I was making grabby hands at this one because I’ve loved each book in the series and couldn’t wait to dive back in and see what the characters I’ve come to love and adore (#TeamSean) have been up to.
And then the title was revealed.
I swear my eyes went cartoon character huge and made me want it even more.
I mean a Voyeur?? Ummmm. Yes. Please. Because, seriously, how can you not be totally intrigued? You can’t and when a slight title change came, I was even more intrigued ~ especially after I looked up the definition for Varlet. And I have to say that I loved and adored this one. It’s all kinds of quirky, adorkable, frustrating and funny with a good dose of smexyness tossed into the mix and a lot of heart.
Josey…I will readily admit that it took me a minute to get a handle on the woman because she definitely took me by surprise with her huge personality in the beginning. But once I saw where it all came from, she grew on me. She definitely had her moments, but everything she does comes from a good, though slightly nervous and overly curious, place. She’s sweet, honest ~ sometimes too honest ~ and has a good heart, that combined with how comfortable in her own skin she actually was made it easy to adore her in the end.
William. This man. I adored him. I did. I loved how conscientious he was with how he did things. He strove to take the honorable and morally correct path in life and it made it hard to not fall in love with based on that alone. He’s sweet and has an alphaness to him that is quite addictive. But, he was so, so…structured in certain aspects of his life that drove me a tinsy bit batshitcrazy, just a bit. I understood why, I did, but the need to reach through the Kindle and give him a little shake was strong.
Josey and William’s journey to their HEA was all kinds of fun, adorkable, quirky, sweet, smexy and frustrating. These two. I tell you. They definitely took me on a ride, but it was an awesome one. The situation they were in was definitely unique, which made the slow burn of their relationship totally work for me. I loved watching them get to know each other, accept who the other was and find that they truly liked each other, quirks and all. Their interactions were fun and the when the smexy happens, it’s all KINDS of HOT! The little sinkhole in their journey was frustrating, but I thoroughly enjoyed how they finally pulled themselves out of it and got the HEA they so richly deserved.
I am sad that this is the last book of the series, but it is because of this series that I found two authors I love and for that I will always be thankful. We do get to catch up with everyone and while Sean & Lucy will always be my favs, I still love Ronan & Annie and Bryan & Eilish and I loved watching as all of their relationships have evolved throughout the series. Though I am curious if there may be a spinoff, maybe?? Because there were a couple of characters in here that I think deserve to have their stories told…just sayin’. But when all is said and done, this was a fun ride overall and that epilogue was perfect!

I was given an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I have read all the books in this series, and I am a fan of Reid and Cosway’s writing. I think one could easily read this without having read the other stories first, but previous characters make enough of an appearance, that I would guess a first-time reader would become curious about the other books.
What I like about the Rugby series in particular is that the Rugby players very much fit into the masculine stereotype one would expect from elite male atheltes *and* they can be vulnerable, emotional, and honest with the people they trust.
It was great to get to know Josey Kavanagh (initially introduced in “The Cad & the Co-ed”). She’s a quirky gal with no verbal filter who personifies that mid-twenties almost-have-myself-figured-out-but-not-quite.
Will Moore is a character I want to read again. He has this complex moral code that make his thinking and choices really unique. He definitely made me think about: what is “wrong?” how/to what degree should we feel responsible for others?
But ultimately this is a book about how love makes everything fun. Josey can’t let things stay too philosophical, and Will soaks up her joy like a plant in the sun.
A very good read.
Book 4 in the Rugby Series by Penny Reid and L.H.Cosway.
William Mason is a side charachter from the series that caught my attention, especially in the last book. I had some trepidation about this book because of his romantic feelings towards Elish….who would the writer duo have as a match for the stoic, deep thinking American farm boy…
Josey…is Elish’s friend. She lives at home with her parents, what she lacks in social communication skills she makes up with a awkward but bubbly personality and charm. When her parents drop the bomb that they are down sizing and Josey needs to start becoming the adult she actually is.. she knows she’s in for a rough time… a veterinary student trying to afford and pay for a semi hospitable accommodation is gonna be a challenge… she needs a job, a well paying, affordable job..that won’t impact too much into her studies.
When Josey is introduced to William as a potential live in employee, following the breaking scandal and revelation about his voyeristic tendencies.. it seems that they have both hit the roommate jack pot…. Josey with a new affordable home and William with an employee to help him stay on track.
Josey is resigned to see William as a girl! Not the beef cake he is… and William is determined to see josey as his employee and not a girl!!
From the moment I picked up the first in this series it has been a favourite of mine and to learn that this was and is the last in the series made me so very sad because I love the charachters that the authors come up with.
Opposites in every way..facing their own internal battles..in one way or another… It was only right that this final in series should have the most opposite of charachters together.
There were some utterly fantastic interactions between Josey and William…( CAKE!! ) and I honestly did love viewing William’s internal struggle with rules and boundaries and his rigidity when it came to breaking them.
It was fantastic gaining insight into one of the past books side characters who had really teased my interest.
( I’m hoping there will be a spin off or potential new series by introduction of Ophelia??? )
This book didn’t disappoint, it had all the great bits that made me love this series… the goofy but endearing girl, the gruff ‘more than meets the eye’ boy, belly rocking funny feels and pure swoon worthy chemistry filled moments that make ( me ) reread and sigh in abject happiness!
I really enjoyed this sweet, funny and sexy story. This series has been a wonderful one. I definitely recommend this book, this series and these two wonderful authors.
