Annalise Baker is staring a new life after her unexpected divorce. Moving to a new town and starting a new job in the Smokey Mountains, she is quickly drawn into the search for a missing woman.
Her longtime friend, Zach Lebow, is starting to have unfamiliar feelings for Annalise and he’s not sure what to make of it. Soon, the two partners are being chased by the drug cartel that destroyed Annalise’s home and killed her best friend.
Zach also has to deal with his father’s unwanted reappearance into his life. After more than 10 years without a word, Zach isn’t sure that he can forgive him for his desertion. As the story progresses, all of the characters reach an inevitable interaction that could possibly leave them severely injured or worse.
The book moved at a fast pace and the characters were likeable and relatable. Some of the events seemed a little contrived, but all in all, this was an enjoyable read. I liked the fact that the author has the characters dealing with their emotions with God’s help, which is refreshing in most books in this genre.
The narrator did a good job, but the audio was a little noisy at times. I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher/narrator and chose to review it.

I have to admit, I love a good series. This one does not disappoint. Book one was a great read, and this book is intriguing. It kept me wondering what had happened and what would happen.
Really fun but suspenseful read while keeping faith intertwined in the story. Highly recommend.

Loved this continuation of Annalise and Zachary’s story! Wow, there were things I didn’t see coming in this book!! I love that throughout the book, they continue to lean on God, and boy, did they need to! Don’t want to give any spoilers, though, so I can’t say alot! You definitely need to read these books in order to get the full impact from book to book. I’m looking forward to the next book!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.

It really kept me guessing!
Sara L. Foust really kept me guessing with The Vanishing of Olivia Beck!
Olivia’s story picks up where The Kidnapping of Cody Moss ended, or at least a few months later. Annalise has just signed divorce papers and is floundering, blaming herself for her failed marriage. Her best friend and co-worker, Zach, is doing all he can to help her see she was not responsible for her ex-husband’s infidelity while dealing with strange emotions when he is around her. When they are drawn into a new case, a missing woman, things begin to get odd.
I wasn’t quite sure who to suspect and who to trust! With bullets flying, threats made, and suspects mounting, the action was almost non-stop. I loved watching the details unfold as I learned more about the situation. And was caught completely off-guard by the revelation at the end.
Once again, I enjoyed seeing Annalise at work. Her uncanny ability to tease out the answers to the mysteries presented to her was amazing. And I loved seeing her read the micro-expressions on the faces of the various suspects – being able to tell when they were lying.
It was so fun to read about Zach and Annalise’s growing feelings for each other! I’m looking forward to reading more about them in the next book in the series, scheduled to release in June 2021.
The suspense isn’t creepy, terrifying, or gory. While there is plenty of action, there are light-hearted and sweet moments as well. And as Zach struggles with forgiveness, he seeks God in a way he hadn’t in the past. The faith element is integrated into the story quite naturally.
The Vanishing of Olivia Beck stands alone, yet I recommend reading The Kidnapping of Cody Moss beforehand, both for context and simply because they are great stories!
