Follow the Crow (Book 1)
Ben Dejooli is a Navajo cop who can’t escape his past. Six years ago his little sister Ana vanished without a trace. His best friend saw what happened but he refuses to speak of what he knows, and so was banished from the Navajo tribe. That was the day the crows started following Ben. What the crows know will change his life, and the lives of those he loves, forever.
Beyond the Veil (Book 2)
The bell that holds power over life and death has been lost. The race to find it has begun, and our world hangs in the balance.
Caroline and Owen search for the bell across the land of the living. Ben Dejooli, now known as the Walker, searches the land of the dead. Their mission is to protect the bell and keep it secret. Others seek the bell as well, but they have different plans… plans that could disrupt the careful balance between life and death that has stood since the beginning of time.
When a young boy finds the bell out in the plains of Texas, he quickly becomes the target of a showdown between the lands of the living and the dead, and those that want to rule over both.
The Coyote Way (Book 3)
The Walker chases a rogue spirit, something dark and chaotic that broke through into the land of the living and took on the form of a coyote.
Caroline and Owen have been on the move for years trying to find a place to call home. Caroline remains torn–her heart split in two. Half of her loves Owen, the other half still loves Ben. Grant travels with them, but he struggles with the weight of his position as Keeper and wants to carve his own path. Everywhere they go they find a strange malice and unease waiting for them. The coyote’s handiwork.
They don’t know it yet, but all of them are travelling in the same direction. Back to Chaco Navajo Reservation . . . which is exactly what the coyote wants.

Great Story! Different take on the after-life rich in Navajo mysticism.
This is a must-read series for anyone who enjoys speculative fiction about the afterlife. The books weave in the Navajo myths and culture, breathing fresh life into a story that’s been told in many different ways. The books are divided into chapters told from the perspective of the different characters. Each character is so fleshed out, with a distinctive voice and motivations, that the approach enhances the story flow and keeps the reader turning the pages. I especially enjoyed how the Grant Romer character’s voice changes as he grows from an eight year old boy into a teenager. Still the same character, but with the expected changes that hormones bring. Also, the ending did not disappoint. The story felt complete and balance was restored. Well done, B.B. Griffith!
Frankly, this is a favorite series, and I have read it at least once a year since 2015. Drawing on indigenous lore and set in several worlds, the realistic and sympathetic characters draw you in to a well- constructed page-turner that makes wise-cracking crows, ancient wisdom, modern myth, and multiple dimensions totally believable. But you should really read it yourself.
Loved this so much!
Story line was a little far fetched with it not be in the fantasy fiction genre, one of the characters was a little wishy washy and her “talent” was not explored enough.
Great series. I really enjoyed the twists and turns. It gives a glimpse into life on the
rez and Navajo folk lore.
very interesting book filled with Navajo life current day, traditions & beliefs. set between the living world & the dead one it involves shapeshifters, tricksters & other legendary spirits. has end of world catastrophy, living on the reservation, interaction whites & natives, and a odd romance. Set of three books & every one was hard to put down.
I loved this series.
This was a great read. The characters were well developed and the story very interesting and different.
Griffith is a darned good story-teller. This isn’t Hillerman (either one) wherein the legends are dispelled for the reality. But, it is innovative. Navajo legend crashes into commonly held afterlife lore and belief, then Griffith bounces us back and forth into different realities and worlds as the war to prevail crosses over. Time travel, death, guardians, singers, the Rez and its reality, cops, creeps and doctors all are thrown in this pot and stirred. Protagonists tell their own point of view in the first person in their own chapters. Nice touch, giving that perspective. It is a full on supernatural tale as each lead character leaves the real world to combat breakthroughs in the veil to the afterlife. A fun ride.
This book wasn’t for me. I lost interest around the middle of book two. I didn’t like the mystical references, it didn’t make much sense to me. I just couldn’t get into it.
Very good book series. It was hard to put down. Enjoyed the spin on the Navajo customs and beliefs that were weaved into the story lines.
O did not want to put these books down love the story
A great tale based on the Navaho belief system.
I couldn’t get past the constant first person dialogue.
Quit reading. Not a fan.
Not only entertaining and a great page turner, it is quite profound. Luv’d it and this author.
Wow, this author really can write. He is absolutely brilliant. But, the story line is just way too dark.
This is a great series, combining Native American lore and Sci-fi into a terrific read. I hated having to put the books down…….each chapter is written from a particular characters’ viewpoint…….well written and a fascinating read.
Great story premise, but felt it could have been developed so much more. The ending was flat, too bad.
