Even cursed blood can fall prey to love’s bite.Kenton Morley and Lawrence Derrickson have hated each other ever since they were feuding border lords in medieval England and Scotland…seven hundred years ago. When their bloodlines were cursed, birthing the world’s first vampires.Their feud has since carried through the centuries based on a new argument: Kenton seeks to destroy the Cheld—the only … argument: Kenton seeks to destroy the Cheld—the only line of humans capable of killing their kind—while Lawrence seeks to save them.
It’s said that men can forget, but never forgive. It’s also said that true love knows no bounds. When the vampires move to Stone Haven, Pennsylvania, Alessandra Fiore will find out firsthand which of those old adages is true.
It doesn’t matter whether she believes in vampires or not…
Because they believe in her. And she’s on the very cusp of discovering her dormant powers as a Cheld—a potential vampire hunter.
And with both of these strangely wealthy newcomers’ storming into her sleepy, peaceful town, warning her to stay away from the other, what is a girl to do? Especially when Kenton—the one that supposedly wants to kill her—has a devilish twinkle in his eyes that she just can’t say no to?
No matter how dangerous she instinctively knows both men to be, strengths and powers of her own are beginning to bubble to the surface, encouraging her that she can take care of herself, thank you very much.
Love and Hate—two sides of the same coin. Literally.
The only thing left to do is flip that coin and hope for the best…to see which old saying is true. And how many innocents bet the wrong way.
THE VAMPIRE’S TEMPTATION is a steamy vampire romance with an HEA. Fans of Elizabeth Hunter, Jeaniene Frost and Lynsay Sands may enjoy this paranormal romance series.

This book is a solid 5 stars. Loved it!! Kenton and Lawrence were both vampires who’s family has been feuding for centuries and are the first as they were cursed. Modern day in Pennsylvania they both are drawn to Alexandra who doesn’t know that she is becoming someone who can kill vampires. One wants to kill her and the other wants to protect her. Loved the chemistry and the way the story unfolded. I had to read this book after reading the prequel that is free on the authors site. Great secondary characters and I am definitely going to get the next in this series!!
I have read many paranormal vampire books throughout the years but I must say this is the BEST one yet! The whole storyline is so unlike any I’ve ever read in this genre and one would think the author has been writing this genre forever instead of this being her first foray into vampire stories!! I loved Kenton and Alessandra….he, a sexy 700 year old vampire and she, a kick ass Cheld. They should be sworn enemies to each other but love happens and I really enjoyed how everything is revealed throughout the story. I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars, I loved it that much! Now I need to go find me a caboose……
The Vampire’s Temptation is Book 1 in the Bloodwite series and what a tale it is. This exceptionally talented author, Cecelia Mecca has hit a homerun on her first venture into the PRN genre. This book has everything you could want — fantastic storyline, excellent characters, perfect location, heart-stopping adventure and romance. It is truly a page-turner you will not want to put down as there are so many twists and turns that keep you riveted to the page. It receives by highest recommendation. Do yourself a favor and get this book. Received a copy and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Teacher is in for a Big Surprise – Brilliant Paranormal Read!!
Alessandra Fiore is celebrating the end of a school year and looking forward to starting the upcoming year as a college professor. When a sexy new man in town Kenton notices her world is about to turn on its head. He is more than he appears and has news that Alessandra is extraordinary in her own right.
Is he friend or foe, and how can she deal with her new reality? Exciting take on a “human discovers the paranormal world” with a twist. Loved the relationships and building danger in this compelling first in this series!! Ready for more in this series and from this storyteller!!
Okay, let’s backtrack. This story actually starts back with story 9 of the Border Series with “The Guardian’s Favor”. If you haven’t delved into that series, it’s a historical romance set in 13th century Northumbria along the Anglo-Scottish border and comprises strong female heroines, alpha-male heroes, and sizzling romance. It’s there you’ll first meet Lawrence Derrickson. And yes, you did the math right – 700 years ago.
Fast forward to 2019 to Stone Haven, Pennsylvania, where we meet Alessandra Fiore, who is a new instructor at the local college and suddenly finding herself the subject of (un)wanted attention from both Kenton Morley and Lawrence Derrickson. Yup, the very same Lawrence Derrickson. What ensues is a romance 700 years in the making as the cursed and blessed realize that not only can they work together but they can experience a love like no other, for it is rare for a cheld and a vampire to unite.
If you’ve read my other reviews, you already know that I’m a Cecelia Mecca fan and I’ve enjoyed her historical romances. She takes it to a higher level with her new PNR that blends both history with the otherworldly into something that is pure entertainment. The characters are all engaging and the small town of Stone Haven is a marvelous backdrop for feuding families to unite, for showdowns to occur, and for some serious (and hawt) romance to happen.
This book was amazing. It sucks you in from the first chapter and doesn’t let you go, holding you as tightly as a 700 year old vampire holds a grudge. The chemistry between the characters absolutely sizzles, and the sexual tension is delicious. Utter perfection, and one awesome way to kick start a series.
It has been a long time since I have read a paranormal romance about vampires, but wow, what an amazing story to get reacquainted!! Of course, this is by Cecelia Mecca, one of my go to authors for historical romance! But when I knew she was taking two border lords from those books to the future, I was hooked and knew this series would be outstanding!
Kenton and Lawrence where strong knights, who were at war with each other. Forward 700 years and now they are vampires, still having arguments and not agreeing as before! But they had come to Stone Haven with one purpose. To find Alessandra, a cheld, who could become a vampire hunter and kill them. Beautiful, strong and just coming into her powers, she and Kenton are attracted but aren’t they on opposite sides? Will they kill each other or become drawn together with a power greater then them?
What an amazing transition from historical to paranormal with out missing a step for Cecelia Mecca! She will become a star in this genre, I have not doubt and I cannot wait for Lawrence’s book!!
The Vampire’s Temptation by Cecelia Mecca is the first book in the Bloodwite Series. This is the story of Alessandra Fiore and Kenton Morley.
Kenton and Lawrence Derrickson are sworn enemies who are on opposites sides of a war of sorts.
Kenton has come to Stone Haven, Pennsylvania to kill Alessandra who is a Cheld. Cheld’s to his family are dangerous enemies that need to be taken out. Lawrence has come to town to stop Kenton and to help Alessandra. Kenton is finding himself drawn to Alessandra, but he thinks at first its the Cheld in her. But the more he is around her the more he knows that it is something else that he can’t kill or walk away from. OMG this was such a page turner book! I could not put it down. I have read all of Ms. Mecca’s books so I was very excited to see that she is venturing off into this gene…and what a great start. I will be looking for the other books in their series for sure…loved it!.
I didn’t think Paranormal was my cup of tea. Boy, was I wrong!
I have to admit I love a good Medieval Romance novel and never ventured much from that time period. I first started reading Cecelia Mecca books because of her Border Series set 700 years ago. So I started following her on FB. I discover that she was going to start writing Paranormal and was quite shocked. Got to say I never read much of that genre but decided I would keep tabs on her new series since she is one of my favorite writers. Then she reeled out the hook. She introduced one of her vampires in the Book 9 of her Border Series. Lawrence is not a vampire in this book but you are told about the feud that eventually leads to the curse that is the conception of vampires in this series. So at this point I have a vested interest.
Vampire Kenton Morley comes to Stone Haven, PA. in search of a Cheld, vampire hunter, who is just now discovering her powers. The Cheld is an answer to a plea by Lady Isobel as a balance to the vampires she accidentally created through a curse she placed after the death of husband, Alex, back in the late 1200’s. The Cheld are Isobel and Alex’s children and their descendants.
Kenton comes to town with every intent on destroying Alessandra before she comes into her powers completely and she starts eradicating his kind. Little does Kenton know that he is going to be attracted to her like no other woman in 700 years.
Lawrence’s clan was turned into vampires also but since it was his brother killed by the Morley family Lawrence’s siblings have learned to curb their blood lust and have vowed to protected the Cheld. Lawrence comes to town to protect Alessandra from being killed by Kenton.
There is quite of bit of humorous bickering between the 2 vampires as they both try to convince Alessandra the other is out to destroy her. The two come to a tentative truce. Kenton wants to know if she has more family members while Lawrence wants to keep the Cheld alive. During these 2 weeks eventually the attraction Kenton feels for Alessandra is just too much for Kenton to deny and he wars with himself on either killing her or falling in love with her. Alessandra is as drawn to Kenton as he is to her leading to a few rather steamy moments throughout the book.
I read the book and am hooked in for the ride. I am now not so patiently waiting for the next book in the Bloodwite series.
Honestly don’t even bother reading the review, just read this book. You won’t regret it.
Feuding Scottish/English border lords turned blood-cursed vampires, Kenton Morley and Lawrence Derrickson are still on opposite sides in modern day Pennsylvania. Kenton wants to destroy and human of the Cheld bloodline, descendants of Lawrence’s late brother, and the only ones capable of killing old vampires, but Lawrence wants to protect them. In the small town of Stone Haven, Pennsylvania, the two clash once again over the fate of Alessandra, a college history professor and a Cheld who is just about to discover her powers. Both men warn her away from the other and she doesn’t know who to believe, but her newfound powers are encouraging her to believe in herself and her own instincts. Kenton finds himself drawn to Alessandra and not just to kill her; he has to keep reminding himself that she is his enemy. Kenton is burdened by his conscience, but determined to eliminate the threat the Cheld poses to his family and he reminds himself that no Cheld is innocent. The Cheld are responsible for the deaths of his parents, so Alessandra must die. His body just doesn’t want to cooperate, and, though he won’t admit it, neither does his heart.
I’m not typically a fan of paranormal, but I love Ms. Mecca’s writing so I jumped at the chance to try her new series. I loved it! I could not put it down, literally devoured it in a day, and am now anxious for the next installment. There were a couple points where I felt like I’d missed something and needed to go back and reread, but I read an ARC, so I’m sure this will be sharpened up in the final draft. Even if it isn’t this is still a great read that should not be missed; even if you’re not a paranormal fan, I’d recommend you give it a shot.
I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review. Thank you!! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lawrence and Kenton are leaders of two vampire families that have been enemies for centuries. They discover that Alessandra is one person who has the power to take them both down and she didn’t not even know it. Alessandra has just found out that she has secret powers and will need help finding out what they are. She does not know who to trust but feels a strong connection to Kenton and asks for his help. What happens next will keep you on the edge of your seat in anticipation. Not enough words to describe Kenton; I just love this character. He had so many different sides to him and you found yourself hoping he is one of the good guys.
And what an ending-Wow just Wow.
Once you start this story you just can’t stop, it’s a page turner that you can’t put down. This was a great PRN and I can’t wait for the next one in the series. I am a big fan of Cecelia Mecca’s adventures and have never been disappointed in any of her books (you need to check out her Border Series).
I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion.
A bitter family fued that begin 700 yrs ago on the Scottish border between the Scottish Derrickson’s and the English Morley’s both suffered losses but when Lawrence brother is killed his wife curses all who played a part in his death especially the Morleys even when they deny it. Its to late when she tries to fix things she curses her own clan the Derrickson now they are both vampires living through out the centuries either saving the hunters the cheld or killing them to survive. Lawrence family protects the cheld there his family it was his brothers wife who created there curse. He’s tried to reason with his enemy the Morley’s many times but Kenton dosen’t want too take a chance that the cheld won’t try and kill the only family he has left. And now they have come to the same town one wants Alessandra death the other wants too keep her alive. Alessandra is looking forward to teaching history at the local college when she learns some things about herself she didn’t know and that her life is in danger can she trust Lawrence and if Kenton is so bad for her health why cant she stay away. Kenton its been easy until now to kill his enemy’s extended kin but when he meets Alessandra it changes everything for him now he will have to make a choice love someone who can kill you and betray your family or kill the only women he has ever loved. I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review i have also pre-ordered a copy too.
The Vampire’s Temptation is the first of Cecilia Mecca ‘s writing I have read. I was given a arc for an honest review. I will start by saying the story was not as action packed as I thought it would be given the general origins and premise of the story. However, given the fact that this is the first in a series the lack of action is something I can overlook for now. I enjoyed the suspense and interactions between Kenton and Alessandra. The only issue I had was the Insta love they had. I say Insta love because they confess their feelings after they’ve only known each other for a few weeks. Given the fact that the human characters are supposed to be grown women, one a university professor, it just seemed illogical to me. I always had a problem with this fallacy in YA paranormal. What set Cecilia Mecca ‘s story apart was that the couple did go on “dates” and had adult conversations where they learned more about the other. This character development made the story enjoyable. I also liked how instead of adapting her persona to her relationship with Kenton, Alessandra had her own life. While she did not have a typical kick ass attitude, Alessandra was not a helpless heroine. She called Kenton out on his intolerable behavior and took action when the situation called for it. All the characters acted realistically given certain situations. I will not say more or explain why dates is in quotations in fear of spoiling the story. I will say that I greatly enjoyed the plot despite some of the issues I just stated and look forward to the next book.
This new series from Cecelia Mecca is absolutely amazing!! Talk about a new spin on a vampire series this story takes place in an idyllic little historic Pennsylvania town called Stone Haven where we meet Alessandra, who comes from a long line of vampire hunters known as the Cheld, unbeknownst to her. Now we meet Kenton a 700 year old vampire who has come to kill Allie just for being a Cheld but finds himself being drawn to her instead. All I can say is wow!! You won’t be able to put this book down! I finished it in a day! Plus you will fall in love with Alessandra’s best friend Toni and Lawrence who is also a vampire and his sister. I was gifted with this ARC and am thrilled to leave this review! Anyone who loves vampire romance you have got to give this one a try!!
I just loved this vampire story that takes place in a small town. This enemy to lovers story had interesting characters and storyline. It was different from other vampire stories I have read and I mean in a good way. This is a book you won’t want to put down. I could see myself in this town from the descriptions. I will anxiously look for the next book.
