Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.
The tourists think it’s all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
After seeing her maybe-mobster boss murder a guy, Delaney James … maybe-mobster boss murder a guy, Delaney James assumes a new identity and pretends to be a mail order bride. She finds her groom-to-be living in a town that celebrates Halloween every day. Weird. But not as weird as what she doesn’t know. Her groom-to-be is a 400-year-old vampire.
Hugh Ellingham has only agreed to the arranged set up to make his overbearing grandmother happy. In thirty days, whatever bridezilla shows up at his door will be escorted right back out. His past means love is no longer an option. Not if the woman’s going to have a future. Except he never counted on Delaney and falling in love for real.
Too bad both of them are keeping some mighty big secrets…

**Audiobook Review** A friend suggested this series to me and I started the Audiobook yesterday. I couldn’t put it down! The story is so unique it pulled me right in. Mobsters, Vampires, Mail Order brides…there’s so much to keep the story interesting. And I love some of the Twilight humor thrown in. Great story, wonderful characters, and I enjoyed the way the narrator told the story. Love this book and have already started book 2! This is my first book by this author and I am a fan.
I bought this book based on the cover and the premise – everyday gal on the run from the mob runs smack-dab into a smorgasbord of supernaturals? Sign me up! I very much enjoyed Delaney. My kind of heroine – an independent smart ass and cat lover who braves hitmen, gargoyles, and a 300+ year old overbearing dowager duchess vamp. And Hugh? He’s a true gentleman vampire on a mission to save his unexpected paramour from mob bosses and death-by-turning. With lovable side characters and a dash of funny, this book was a delight. I’ll definitely be visiting Nocturne Falls again!
I got this as a free book on Amazon as a way to introduce new authors. Well, that intro really worked! I was hooked on the first page and it only kept getting better from there. I want to live in this world that she created. I was in tears laughing when I was reading. As soon as I finished it I was back online buying the next couple of books. My teen daughters must have thought I was going crazy because I kept reading the one-liners to them. It is a really fun, feel-good read. I’ve fallen in love with each and every character that I meet. Ms.Painter has become one of my authors that if their name is on the cover I’ve got to have that book. She is that great an author. I can’t get enough of Nocturne Falls stories. I vote that we need this town in real life, who is with me?
I love this story. The characters really grab my attention.
This book was funny, I couldn’t put it down.
Really enjoyed this series, great characters and just an overall fun read! I do love Vampire books so i am biased…Smile
Love, love,LOVE the Nocturne Falls series. Great characters, good stories, takes you away from everyday boringness and puts a little fun in your life!! Please read!
Fun read, immediately bought the second one. Good escape and entertaining.
Great book.
This is a very good book . I like the different twists and turns . There is humor and feeling . It also had a great ending .
Loved it. Once you start reading it you will not put it down until you finish it.
Loved the whole series
I’d never read this author before and that’s about to change. Her characters are real and they make you laugh and cry. What a wonderful first read!
I can’t give words to how much I adore this book. It’s funny and the main character is absolutely relatable and so different from the typical main character. Definitely a new favorite of mine.
Nocturne Falls is a Halloween themed town for supernaturals to live openly with humans unaware of what’s around them. It’s a cheesy and cute idea, so now I’m curious to see how this plays out in future stories.
Delaney and Hugh were okay characters-flat and one dimensional really. I thought Stanhill, Hugh’s valet, and Captain Underpants, Delaney’s oversized cat were better developed, and obviously more amusing the the H/h.
Overall, this was a cute story-things got better after the first 15-20% of the book-but still it’s fluffy reading. The romance is behind closed doors and I think the P.D.A. is tastefully done. I liked the cheesy humor and silliness enough to continue on and see how other characters develop in future books.
Fun read.
I enjoyed the premise and can only wish there had been more to the story.
A fun little read. Flow through real quickly. I really liked the characters and really looking forward to the next book.
This book introduced me to a great series and an author that I really like. I’ve purchased and read every ‘Nocturne Falls’ book by this author. I love the setting, the characters, and the story telling. The characters pop up in subsequent books and it ends up feeling like you’re part of a big neighborhood. I recommend this book and the entire Nocturne Falls and Jayne Frost series by Kristen Painter.
A light vamp read – sex is yada-yada’d. Sweet romance.
