I never got into the whole Twilight thing as a teen. But I’m on a The Vampire Diaries kick right now, so I wanted to read a book about vampires. I loved Madow’s Elementals series, so I knew this series would probably be good, too. And it is! The book is written from multiple points of view, and the chapters are relatively short and keep you wanting more (in a good way). It was a really fun read and not too graphic. I think this is a book both teens and adults will enjoy.
The book is so good that can’t stop reading it. One may say some facts were predictable, but the way the narrative is developed, it shows how creative and original to her purposes. It’s the first book I read by Michelle Madow and definitely I will read the others.
Janus is the type of Vampire I would love to have had a chance to meet! A man with dignity and respect for life. If only he wasn’t already spoken for…
These books are short, page turning reads that you will quickly become addicted to! I’m already on the fourth in the series and can’t stop.
I’m hooked on this captivating series
Annika is a human who watches as vampires kill her family, but they keep her alive to become a blood slave to their kind. Whisked away to the Vale, a town for the blood slaves that sits below the vampire palace, Annika hates her new life… until she meets a handsome stranger on Christmas Eve. Jacen, a swimmer training for the Olympics, who has been newly turned into a Vampire Prince, feels a connection with Annika the first time he sees her. Can a human and a vampire have a future? What does the palace’s witch, Camila, want with a human blood slave?
A well written, clean YA romance that has enough details, action and plot twists to keep you (adults, too!) reading well past bed time! Michelle’s writing style allows me to envision the Vale and the Vampire Palace as if I was there in person. I found myself hating the vampires, cheering for Annika, and hopeful for a romance between her and Jacen. Vampires, witches, wolf-shifters and human blood slaves… what more could you ask for in a book! I loved this book and I’m not a YA anymore! This captivating, well written book ends with a cliffhanger, so you’ll want to get Book 2, The Vampire Prince, immediately! I’m hooked on this series!
A tantalising and seductive read!
That opening chapter… pure heartbreak!
Vampire + bloodlust = destruction. That is all I’m saying.
A vampire filled with nightmares and regret…
A human kidnapped because of one vampire’s fatal decision…
Enemies that shouldn’t have a connection…
A phenomenal read!
Hot damn! This book. The Vale is such an interesting world full of intrigue, allure and danger. The Vale is full of monsters – monsters that hunt for human flesh and thirst for human blood. I love this bloody world!
This is a work of brilliance. I especially loved the twist on this story: The blurb reads Twilight meets Aladdin – it certainly does but with a twist. But that cliffhanger ending! Just no. NO!
A truly imaginative, hooking world and read.
This book seduced me right from the start, tempting me and then, of course, sealing the deal – I couldn’t leave this book after I caught a taste of it. I couldn’t leave this book for a second and then the next thing I know, I’m done. I devoured this book in one-sitting. So excited for the next book!
Jam-packed with vampires, witches, Nephilim, angels, wolves, betrayal, secrets, lies, twists and turns and a hint of romance.
Perfect for readers of paranormal romances/dark fantasy/fairytale retellings.
There is not enough to inspire people to keep reading. The insta-like/love was awful. Also, the idea that the h would want to become the very thing that destroyed her life is unrealistic. The plot was thin and attempts of creating intrigue or complexity behind the characters just fell flat.
This was good from the beginning. I like Annika she is strong and unwilling to submit. I also like Jacen who seems to be the Vampire version of Annika.
The story and characters were well crafted and I look forward to reading other books in the series!
