I don’t read a lot of vampire romances, but this was excellent. I enjoyed the intertwined natures of witches, vampires, and werewolves, and the small plot twist. Great read!
Quick read.
The Vampire Heir is a fast paced and addictive vampire romance that’ll keep you turning the pages. With heat, mystery, a vividly gothic setting and great chemistry between the leads, this is a definite must-read for anyone who likes vampire reads!
I enjoyed reading this book so much. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.
This book has my attention from the beginning and had me tearing up at the end
I enjoy reading this book
not stand alone Left me kinda, i don’t like hangers
Great story about vamps and witches.
I was really enjoying this book until I reached 80%. Then the whole book just fell apart and stopped making any sense. Then at 90% I discovered that the book was not over and there were more parts. I knew it was a series of 9 but did not realize that the story was not a stand alone. My bad. Usually I am good about only reading Stand Alone books but this one got past me.
The main characters made this story jump off the page and grab your interest. Very entertaining.
I really enjoyed this book and I would definitely recommend it.
Easy read, nice plot with surprises. Makes you want to read the series.
Great quick read.
I read this in a few hours because I really liked the story. Has supernatural beings, romance, action, mystery and intrigue. Has some spelling errors and grammar errors but still a good read.
Audiobook was excellent loved it both book 1 and 2want more!!!
The Vampire Heir by Juliana Haygert a five-star read that you would give your first born for. This is the first book in the Rite of the Vampire Saga series and if the rest of the series is half as good then it will be amazing. I have read this author as part of another multi author series, but this was my first foray into what is solely her world and I am a fan the world has great depth and the characters have real qualities to them, you can imagine yourself in the ballroom and on the train, the anticipation and wonderment. Thea Harrington is a woman with secrets was she lucky when she won the lottery and was picked to go to DuMoir Castle or was it something else, it’s the hottest ticket to win. But once you are there much like Hotel California you may never leave. But as with life things are never as they appear on the surface as Prince Drake DuMoir is a perfect example of that. This series appears to be starting with a bang and I for one can’t wait for more!!
There is something for everyone in this story and it’s a great example of writing and I can only wait with baited breath for the rest of the series.
Fantastic. Great characters: Thea and Drake. The tension between them is palpable. Alex makes an interesting antagonist. There are plenty of plot twists with things staying uncertain. I loved it. The end was not the end. I look forward to the continuing story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and voluntarily posted an honest review.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader’s copy (ARC) of this book. I have not read this author’s books before either.
This was a unique & entertaining story with lots of plot twists & turns. The flow was a little erratic. Though this is an ARC & it may have been edited before publishing (I can only go by what I read), but I think the ARC version needed some TLC with editing & proof reading, which in turn would help the whole story as well as flow. There was a bunch of stuff going on (phrases, plot issues, mistakes, etc) that was totally distracting to me. These things pulled me out of the moment/story. I liked Thea & Drake but felt more was needed to develop their characters & their relationship, to make them have more dimension than a reader just being told a character is good.
Welcome to Castle DuMoir! We do hope that you will enjoy your brief stay because honestly, you won’t be here long. You see, your purpose is a singular one. You are here to feed the vampires who call this place home, and then most of you will die this very night. Thea knows these things as she makes her way through the tour of the castle and prepares for the “ball” that will happen afterward when the princes make their appearance. Thea has her own secret and her own reasons for being there, but she is determined to do what she must to succeed. She almost doesn’t make it, but when Prince Drake claims her and a young woman she is trying to help, her path is made a little bit easier. Things get complicated though when Lord Reynard is murdered that very night. Now the other Princes are looking to decide who will take over next, and bad blood quickly comes to the surface as suspicions are cast on two. Prepare yourself for the twist you won’t see coming.
The Vampire Heir by Juliana Haygert is book one in her Rite of the Vampire series. In this book we are introduced to Drake and Thea as the two main characters. Each has a chapter dedicated to them, so we follow along as the story goes back and forth between the two. Prince Drake is different from the other vampires that have been claimed and turned over the years. He has lost much, but at the same time, with the passing of the years, he has come to accept what he is and let go of old grudges. Thea has a secret that she must keep hidden, and a mission that is important enough to risk her life for.
I honestly admire Drake quite a lot. He expresses a lot of restraint when dealing with Thea. He knows the dangers of the castle, especially with her drawing the attention of Alex, a fellow Prince. He attempts to keep himself aloof from her, but for some reason, he feels compelled to care about what she thinks and feels. Despite the fact that she crosses the line several times, and puts herself in danger, he never truly lashes out to harm or punish her. Thea is a character that takes a bit to grow on me. I understand that she has a mission, but she’s also defenseless against vampires who would have no problems draining her. It’s like she seems to forget this in her blind decisions to go off and run around. She grows on me when she gets some sense though.
This is an engaging story that’s for sure! The mystery element as to who killed Lord Reynard is intense. The author paints the suspicion on one particular character, whom you will quickly come to despise, but be prepared for a twist. The author drops hints here and there, but it’s definitely a surprise. This story is well written. There is some chemistry between Drake and Thea, but the romance element seems to stem more from a particular situation and physical attraction than anything.
Overall, I’m rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. The author stays focused on the main goal of the story and gives us lots of thrills, some steamy scenes, and quite a bit of intrigue. I look forward to the next book in this series!
