The youngest daughter of a proud Celtic king, Fallon has always lived in the shadow of her older sister Sorcha’s legendary reputation as a warrior. But when Fallon was a young child, the armies of Julius Caesar invaded the island of Britain and her beloved sister was killed in battle. On the eve of her seventeenth birthday, Fallon is excited to follow in Sorcha’s footsteps and earn her rightful … rightful place in her father’s royal war band. But she never gets the chance. Instead, Fallon is captured by a group of ruthless brigands that sells her to an exclusive training school for female gladiators—and its most influential patron is none other than Julius Caesar himself. In a cruel twist of fate, Fallon’s worst enemy, the man who destroyed her family, might be her only hope of survival.
Now, Fallon must overcome vicious rivalries, chilling threats and the dangerous attention of Caesar himself to survive the deadly fights that take place both in and out of the arena—and to claim her place in history among the Valiant.

Since I’ve been wanting to read this book for so long, it’s done.
We find Fallon, daughter of a Celtic king and the sister of Sorcha, a legendary warrior and sworn enemy of Julius Caesar. When she was a child Fallon lost her sister in battle because of Caesar’s armies.
Now, on the eve of her seventeenth birthday, she is eager to follow in her sister’s footsteps and earn her place among the Cantii. But she won’t make it, she will be captured and sold to an elite gladiator training school. And this school just belongs to Julius Caesar. And it could be that this man is just his one and only means of survival.
A book read almost in one go, so much so that I hooked myself to the story, which is so gripping, captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with endearing characters. Can’t wait to read the complete series.
This is a major page-turner I would not read this if you don’t like cliffhangers but if you do this book is fantastic and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
This book has some amazing plot twists and characters and also is closed to what rome was like and uses some real latin words correctly, which are defined.
This is the 2nd time I have read The Valiant and I loved it just as much this time as the first. I loved Fallon’s character and how much she has to overcome during the course of this book and how she grows. Her life is just as she thinks it should be right now, even though as a child her sister was killed by Caesar’s armies.. She is in love and she cannot wait to join her father’s Cantii war band. However nothing goes as expected and she is on the run. She is captured and eventually ends up in a training school for female gladiators. She will be fighting for he who killed her sister in order to survive. She has some hard lessons to learn and finds herself falling for a Roman soldier. I loved the sisterhood of the gladiators. This book was action packed from beginning to end with wonderful characters and great world building. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next 2 books
A fantastic historical fiction with truly badass characters, unexpected twists, and fantastic writing. Absolutely worth a read, and I can’t wait to read the sequel!
Love the strong female characters and fast paced action.
I was gifted this Arc from a goodreads giveaway from Razorbill penguin random house. And I am so glad I won this one. And giving a very honest review. I loved this book so much. I think this my favorite book of the start of 2017. This book is about a young princess named Fallon Who is the daugther of a Celtic King. She lost her sister to a battle of war. And one day wants to be a great warrior like her sister was. But soon finds out of a different fate for herself by her Father the king. She then runs off and finds herself into a new and different world. I really enjoyed the plot and the writing of this story, I was never bored of this story, I couldn’t put this down. I really loved Fallon I felt like whatever she was seeing or feeling I was there with has her friend. I enjoyed her relationship with Cai. And without giving to much without spoiling the book. Loved how they acted around each other. Liked the strong women characters in this book as well. This is a kick butt kinda of book. I recommed this book to anyone.
This book. *sigh* Where do I even begin??? The characters are so well developed, the plot doesn’t stop being interesting for a second. This is definitely NOT a book you can put down after you start.
THIS BOOK! A story about Celtic warrior princess who fights her way through the arenas of ancient Rome? Umm yes please! I was hooked from the first chapter. The action is amazing and the characters are incredibly well written. I love a fierce and clever female protagonist and The Valiant delivered. Totally recommend.
