If you love small towns, endearing relationships, food, animals, and a touch of murder, you will love this new mystery series by Kathi Daley, author of the popular Zoe Donovan Cozy Mystery Series. It is Valentine’s Day in White Eagle Montana and Tess and Tilly are busier than ever delivering Valentine Cards along with the daily mail. Of course it wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day in White Eagle without … Eagle without a mystery to solve or a holiday adoption party to prepare for.
When Tess happens upon a vehicle accident where one man dies, she gets pulled into a mystery with roots into the past. With Tony’s help she not only tracks down a killer but she looks into the occurrence of a missing person as well.
Tony is still looking into the case of Tess’s father’s disappearance, meanwhile Tess and Tilly team up with Brady to make sure that every animal shelter resident finds their perfect match in time for Valentine’s Day.

I have read the first two books in this series and am looking forward to the next ones. I have read all of the books so far from several of this author’s series and have found them to be consistently well written, heart-warming, and entertaining.
I really enjoyed this second in the series. Not only do you have the main mystery but there are little mysteries included. Tess comes upon an accident to which one of the drivers Coby is looking for his mother. Tess’ friend Bree is receiving Valentine gifts, and Tony is trying to find information for Tess about her father’s suspicious death. This story keeps moving with all the twists and turns and likable characters. I will definitely continue on with this series.
In this next book of this fun new series Tess has a long day ahead of her delivering two bags of mail. By the end of the day she is ready to head home, and looks forward to that evenings book club. Unfortunately she comes across a crash on her way home and spends most of the evening talking to her brother Mike about what she witnessed. One of the men she helped out invites her to a meal to say thank you and Tess agrees, hoping to find out what has brought him to town. While having breakfast the next morning Tess learns that the stranger is in town looking for his mother, you see he was left at a church and adopted when he was just a baby. All Coby has is an old picture of his mother and it has led him to White Eagle. Tess being the lovely person she is offers to help and gives Coby some other areas that he can look for information. Along the way Tess learns that the driver of the other vehicle didn’t make it and it might have not been an accident. Follow along and join in the fun as Tess tries to help Bree figure out who is sending her gifts, lends a hand to Brady with a pet adoption day, gets Tony to investigate a foreigner who is interested in her mother, and works on Cody’s intriguing mystery. Throughout the read you get to spend time with some fantastic pets and see others find forever homes. I look forward to seeing where the author leads Tess next.
Love this series!!
Good read. Cute cozy mystery
Kathi Daley has brought us another book in her Tess and Tilly Mystery series. In this book we continue to see the residents of White Eagle, Montana, as Tess Thomas and her faithful dog, Tilly, deliver mail to them. It is the week before Valentine’s Day and the mail delivery is heavier than usual. It seems to be a time for mystery men to be involved in some way or form in White Eagle. One comes through the mail in the form of package for Lucy Thomas, Tess’s mom. Postmarked from Italy, Tess wonders just who this man is and what his intentions are for her mother. The other is a young man who Tess finds by accident… a car accident involving another vehicle that Tess comes upon on her way home. After freeing one man from his car, Tess goes to the other man to check on his condition. The second man is unconscious. Tess has called 911 and with assistance from the first man they try to keep him alive until help comes. The first man, Coby Walters, explains he is in White Eagle to try to find out information about his birth mother. Using a photo given to him by his adopted father upon his death, Coby asks Tess if she will assist him in his search. Tess is never one to say no to someone in need and so the search begins. We are also provided with Valentine surprises and Bree, Tess’s bookstore owner friend, is receiving mystery gifts from an anonymous sender. Tess’s other friend, Tony Marconi, returns in his continued search to assist Tess in her search for the truth into the death of her father. Will their relationship turn from friendship to a romance? Only time will tell. I can assure you, you will find many twists and turns and when you think you have figured out what road this book is taking, Kathi will add a new direction to have you wondering again.
This is the second episode in the new Tess and Tilly Cozy Mystery series. This book is filled with the elements of a cozy mystery including suspense, romance, humor, love, friends and family, and a sense of community. Residents are looking forward to the Valentine’s party at the high school organized by Brady Baker, the new veterinarian, complete with decorations, cookies and punch, and lots of shelter pets ready to be adopted.
Tess Thomas is a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in the small town of White Eagle, Montana. On the way to her book club, Tess hears a loud crash, and then a deer runs out in the road ahead of her. She pulls over to the shoulder and discovers a vehicle with front end damage and a man named Coby Walters sitting in the front seat. She noticed another vehicle down a snowy embankment, resting against a tree. Tess and Coby run down to the car and find a bloody, unconscious man who died, despite attempts to resuscitate him. Tess finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery. Tess’s job allows her the opportunity to talk to others while trying to solve this crime, along with help from a few friends. Secrets from the past are revealed and the killer’s identity is exposed.
As always, Mrs. Daley’s writing flows smoothly, there are several side mysteries along with the main mystery, and her setting and relatable characters make for an extremely enjoyable and quick read. I really look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Kathi Daleys new series , A Tess and Tilly mystery is quickly becoming a big success. I have just finished Book two, The Valentine Mystery. What a treat to have to read on Valentines’s Day. Tess is a mail carrier in a small town in Montana where she has lived all her life. As Valentine’s Day approaches she has “two bagger days” delivering the mail. However she keeps getting slowed down by her customers and various little distractions. Her Mom gets a package from a admirer, her best friend Bree is getting a Valentine present each day from a secret admirer and her computer genius Tony is looking into
the past death of Tess’s father. It is beginning to look like maybe her father didn’t die in that truck wreck..And then Tess comes on the scene of a 2 car wreck. One driver is fine . and not from the area. The other driver passes away and is has some connection to the first driver. So the dective
work begins! This is a fast paced mystery and some twists at the end. Kathi has left us wondering what will happen in the next book! Read and enjoy!
Tests gets all involved in what she thinks is a hunt to find a birth mother, but it may not be all it seems to be. She turns to best friend Tony for help, being too blinded by the mystery to see what Tony really wants. A good second book in this series.
“The Valentine Mystery” earns 5+/5 Valentine Surprises…Mystery Extraordinaire!
“It looks like a two-bagger today.” Tess grimaces a bit, but it is Valentine’s Day in a week. But, along with cards and packages, a few mysteries are delivered. First, BFF Bree Price, owner of the Book Boutique, is receiving Valentine’s gifts anonymously. It’s always a delight to be on the receiving end of surprises, but it can also be a bit ‘creepy.’ Next, Tess and Tony research may have gained another clue to what happened to her father fourteen years ago. Her father was a cross-country hauler and killed when his truck exploded…so why is he looking alive and well in the photo? And that photo? The internet is a miraculous tool. Last, and the main focus, concerns the victim of a car crash. Tess was first-on-scene to help extract Coby Walters from his car. She discovers he has his own mysterious photo. Several residents hold clues to the identity of woman in his photo who happened to have been a temporary resident in White Eagle over thirty years ago. And, the visitor in the black sedan and the threatening late night phone call attempting to scare Tess and Tony off their search, may herald some serious danger…
Another entertaining book from favorite author Kathi Daley! She always provides an engaging mystery or murder investigation to challenge your inner ‘Sherlock.’ Each purposeful interview, informal chat, computer search, or visit to an abandoned house adds another piece to the puzzle about the mysterious photo(s), and the nail-biting end is an excellent twist I didn’t see coming! However, it’s the stories surrounding her two-legged and four-legged characters that keep me invested. Tess is delightful, an animal lover who will stop to rescue any injured animal and often bring it home. Her relationship, or lack of, with her father has left her with some insecurities, but she is dedicated to discover the truth whatever that might be. And Tony, her childhood friend, is providing all the support she needs, but is love in the air? Of course, what about the handsome vet Doc Baker? We have her mother’s across-the-ocean pen pal, Hattie and Hap’s post divorce dating, BFF Bree’s secret admirer, and little Bruiser, a terrier mix labeled a ‘grouch,’ may have found his ‘fur’ever home. Fans will long it, and newbies will become fans!
Kathi Daley always provides wonderful easy-to-follow recipes submitted by her fans. In this book you can enjoy the perfect remedy for the cold temperatures…soup! We have Tortellini Chicken Soup, Grannie’s Potlicker Soup, and Turkey Cheese Soup, then a great side to any meal we have Mexican Potatoes. Yum!
The Valentine Mystery is the second novel in Kathi Daley’s Tess and Tilly Cozy Mystery series and it’s an awesome and delightful read. The writing style flows smoothly at a steady pace. The characters are well rounded and affable and the mysteries are well plotted and interesting. As with all her books, Ms. Daley has provided readers with a clean, fun read, caring and compassionate characters, an intriguing mystery to try to solve, and adorable dogs and cats. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading well-crafted cozy mysteries.
