“As usual, Laurenston’s story is outrageously bawdy, her characters are unabashedly foul-mouthed and unrestrained, and her comedic timing is on point. The blend of screwball romance, mythological mayhem, and all-out action is as enjoyable as ever.” —Publishers Weekly Stieg Engstrom, Angriest Viking Ever, has got big problems. The human Viking Clans of earth are in danger of being … are in danger of being obliterated—along with the rest of the world—and the only one who may be able to save them is a super pain-in-the-ass Crow. Most people annoy Stieg, but this is the one woman he really can’t stand . . .
Erin Amsel loves being a Crow! Why wouldn’t she when the other Viking Clans are so hilariously arrogant and humorless? She’s not about to let all that come to an end! She just didn’t expect to be shoulder to shoulder in battle with Stieg. Then again, he’s so easy to torment—and also kind of cute.
With the future of the world riding on them, Stieg knows he’ll have to put aside his desperate need to kiss the smirk right off Erin’s face. Wait. What? He didn’t mean that—did he? No! They have one goal: To conquer the idiots. Because nothing bugs Stieg more than when idiots win. If only he can keep himself from suddenly acting like one . . .
“No one does the weird and wacky better than Laurenston!”

“If you enjoy outrageous scenarios, witty banter, and hilariously over-the-top characters, look no further than Shelly Laurenston’s Call of Crows series.”

4 stars – It was really good
Erin Amsel is a shit-starter. She isn’t known for working well with others either but when she is tasked with an important mission she finds herself working with the angriest viking ever, Steig. The more time she spends with him though the more she finds that the angry viking is actually very sweet.
This was a fast paced and action packed ride for Steig and Erin, and I loved every minute of it. Erin is a crazy and wild woman, but she is also surprisingly compassionate. She may act like she doesn’t care for anyone but she dearly loves her Crow sisters, even when they annoy the shit out of her. I do wish that we had learned why she ended up with the ability for fire though because that was never explained, especially since the two previous heroines’ abilities were explained.
Steig has been the angry viking Raven throughout this series. I fell more in love with him in this book because that angry protective viking is actually surprisingly sweet and kind underneath that anger. I am a sucker for a grumpy but sweet hero and Steig fit the bill perfectly. These two had an intense forced relationship and I really enjoyed it. Also I love how Steig would try to keep Erin out of trouble because he knew it would most likely fail, but he does it anyways.
My only real complaint was the lack of detail about their pasts. We get brief mentions of both of their pasts but nothing is really explained a lot. But, that said, it didn’t impact the overall story and battle. I just wanted to know more about them personally. Overall, I really enjoyed the ending battle against Gullveig. I do hope we get more books in this series though, especially after that ending scene.
This was very good and some very interesting and fun and terrifying scenes but it dragged in a lot of parts. It kept my attention in sections and then lost me.
Erin and Stieg’s relationship was fun and Erin was such a shi% most of the time it was comical.
This series is worth the read there’s just a lot of characters to keep up with.
Not what I expected. Lots of action and humor. But characters are caricatures and not really likeable.
The series was great but I loved, loved this book!
Love this series as much as her Shifter series.
Loved this book. I’ve read it about 3 times now and would read again. Shelly is a an amazing author and I’ve read all her books. This is a wonderful series and would love to read more beyond the 3 books she’s written. Great world building w/o being boring. The female characters are strong and fun. I totally recommend this book. 🙂
I really enjoyed the story line, but had a tough time keeping up with all of the gods, goddesses and other mystic folk. It made it hard to figure out who hated who and why … guess I should have paid more attention in those college classes.
Fun book with a twist of Norse mythology!
Totally love Shelly Laurenston no matter which name she uses. I’ve read this series several times, I consider them my ” I can’t sleep so I might as well giggle” go to books. Just enough action to entertain, just enough steam to make you flip off the blankets, just enough romance to make you sigh and just enough snark to make you laugh out your nose.
Violent as heck, but also very funny and a unique take on Norse mythology. I really get a kick out of this trilogy.
I love all her books. I have never laughed out loud so much…my family thought i was crazy.
I absolutely loved it and i would definitely recommend it.
Love Shelly Laurenston books! Always funny, loving, and full of charismatic characters who take you on a wild ride through their worlds.
Oooohhh… This is the story about Erin and Stig. It totally kicks butt.
All the clans are working on how to handle Gullvieg when she returns. Jace have found a way that might work, but it will put Erins life on the line. Sparks fly as Erin and Stig are forced to work together to save the world from ending.
Humour, passion and lots of action fills the book. It’s the kind of book you just can’t put down. Just like the two first books in the series.
I highly recommend this series as well as Shelly Laurenston/G.A. Aikens other series.
The Crows are back! Shelly Laurenston’s new series will have readers in stitches! The Unyielding is the third book in a series with a continuing story arch so the first two books need to be read first. As always there is great action, excellent world building, fantastic characters, irreverent humor and of course Erin Amsel finally as the lead with Stieg as her boy toy, kind of but not really (according to Stieg that is)
