Life at Castle St. Clair is wrought with danger and secrets, and when Rosalind is plagued by a series of mysterious accidents, she turns to her husband for protection.

You’ll love this gothic romance with a marriage of convenience, second chances, and two lost lovers who learn their destiny is to live together rather than apart.

I LOVED The Unwilling Viscount and the Vixen! Almost like a beauty and the beast concept storyline. It’s a lovely story where Rosalind has a special gift of healing and incite yet doesn’t share it right away with her husband and he is focused on revenge for the murder of his previous wife and unborn child. Also love him trying to heal from his amnesia in remembering things. Amazing interaction of characters, the love hate yet falling in love is perfect! Love conquers all.

When she arrives at Castle St. Clare, she gets a chill. She can sometimes tell things about people when she touches them, and what she found out was that he was in love with another woman. Lucien only goal is revenge for the person who killed his wife and unborn child. So if he has get married he will but it will be one of convince. But when accidents start happening to Rosalind his protective instincts arise.
This gothic romance is wonderfully written full of suspense, danger, crimes and oh yes romance. The characters are well developed, full of personality, dreams, flaws, desires making them interesting, likeable and personable. You become invested in the main characters and their outcome. The romance is wonderful and as the characters grow slowly towards each other.
The mystery is expertly woven into the storyline and is full of suspense made by unexpected twists, surprises, dangerous situations, and interesting twists that keep you turning the pages until the climax. This is an emotional rollercoasters as the characters deal with internal struggles and external obstacles overcame by the courage of the characters as they break down the barriers to happiness and overcoming the dangers. If you like gothic romance you will enjoy this book.

This book is everything I expect from Ms. Munro. While it appears to be just another romance it has the characteristics of a good Gothic novel. You have your young woman with no other choices, Rosalind refuses to take the out he gives her. Lucien is a tormented man with a past he doesn’t remember and doesn’t want her for a wife. There are murders and kidnapping and mysteries enough for anyone. Great reading.

This period story is full of mystery and suspense as two people come to terms with their arranged marriage and their past. They are initially looking for different things from this marriage but as events work to force them to spend more time together, they become romantically closer and their outlook on their future together begins to change. The author has come up with an interesting plot and has done a wonderful job of sharing it with her readers. This book kept me guessing till the end, I love a good mystery and this story certainly delivered that.

I found this an unusual style from this author. Normally I would expect to read paranormal or contemporary romance so this gothic-style romance was a shift. I found it quite atmospheric & creepy almost right from the start. Rosalind is looking for a place to call home where she is loved & valued in a way that she has been unable to find. Unfortunately, in a time of arranged marriages, she finds herself married to Lucien who makes no secret about not wanting to be married at all. A lot happens to Rosalind in this book that shows that she is not safe in her new life. I really enjoyed this change in style from the author & while there were aspects of it that seemed inconsistent (such as Rosalind being so afraid to start but then showing great courage & determination) I did get drawn into the story & it left me wondering what would happen. Very enjoyable.
I do like the dark suspenseful stories that are page turners, edge of your seat, needing to know what will happen next interspersed with romance. Besides that it breaks up reading the cutesy romances, the twist and turns of who and why spark the imagination and builds the anticipation. I’m not one to skip to the end of a book but oh I wanted to I was so, i need to know, nail biting on edge. The romance between characters was at a much slower pace which also added to the anticipation of will they or won’t they. A well written book with very interesting characters and with my time to read.

Rosalind was betrothed to Lucien as her elder sister had refused to marry him. When she first saw Lucien she was shocked by the terrible scar he had down the side of his face. But the rest of him was gorgeous. Rosalind could read minds when she touched another person without her gloves on. What she saw in Lucien ‘s mind was a beautiful woman. It was his wife who had been murdered along with his unborn child. What an adventure lies ahead of Rosalind and Lucien to get to their happy ending. Loved it. A very enjoyable story.
This is a gripping thriller that is full of intrigue, suspense and romance. Lucien was, as far as he new, just living his life. Until he was told that he is the missing heir to St. Clare. He doesn’t believe it, but his wife talks him into going to find out the truth. On the way the are attacked, and his wife dies. Months later, he is living as George St. Clare, even though he’s anything but convinced that that’s who he is, when his father informs him that he is betrothed, and has been since he was a child, and that she’s on her way to marry him. Lucien is still grieving for his wife and child, so he trues to discourage Rosalind from marrying him. But Rosalind sees him as her last hope for marriage, because everyone at home thinks that she’s a witch because she can read minds. Rosalind is a fierce, caring and sweet woman. After they marry Lucien ignores her, he’s not interested in having another wife or child. When strange things, like attempted murder on both of them, start to happen, Rosalind is determined to help Lucien find the perpetrator, even if it endangers her, which he can’t help but admire. Things get more and more dangerous, and they both get more determined, her to help, him to keep her safe. It comes to a shocking conclusion that you don’t see coming.

Gothic Danger.
Lucien has a really hard time believing even when there is clear proof. Rosalind not only has problems with this gentleman but accused of something that could get her killed. It is a bit gothic and dark with a storyline that is not too bad. I liked the unmasking of Hawk and overall the character fit the story. Where is not a five star for me I am happy to give it a 4. This was a thrilling, captivating, wonderful suspense-filled story about trust, jealousy, friendship, betrayal, loss, yearning, hope, envy, and love. The characters are terrific and the plot is great too. Highly entertaining and enjoyable.
