THE UNTETHERED is a philosophical techno-thriller that spans the globe, weaving five seemingly unrelated characters into a web of impossible conflict and unlikely friendship. And while they battle against their own internal demons in an attempt to achieve their selfish pursuits, the self-righteous mobs of the world are closing in to stop them. The characters:Juvenile delinquent, Roble Santos, … characters:
Juvenile delinquent, Roble Santos, chases his radical vision to build the most controversial aircraft in history—but with the threat of betrayal, prison, and death all around, he’s running out of time.
Political star, Alexandria Patra, rises to the delight of the masses—yet to help those most in need she must forever forget her childhood dream.
Rogue geneticist, Stock Brant, reinvents nature in order to save the very world he hates—unaware the price of his plan may be his own soul.
Tennis player, Nicolette Popov, employs precise mathematics and youthful spunk to become the best in the world—however, unwilling to follow the rules off the court, she risks everything she fought to achieve.
Manga artist, Danny Sands, goes to the ends of the earth to make his father proud—yet his obedience may end up costing him everything and everyone he’s ever loved.
When all five lives collide beneath the streets of Las Vegas, each must make a choice—and none of them will ever be the same again.

Quote from the back cover:
Alexandria counted her shallow breaths. “Roble, what…what is it you need?”
He pulled his arrowhead out from his shirt and rubbed it. “I don’t need to hear how scary the world is and how I shouldn’t try anything. I don’t need to know how much suffering there is out there,” he pointed out the window, “or how bad I should feel about it. What I need…” he looked up, his grey eyes pleading, “…is to see someone who is still happy after growing up.”
Lowering his head, he added, “I need to see living, Ms. Patra, because I actually want to live.”

Quote from inside:
The East China Sea glistened like an endless glass sheet. The F-22 Raptor Super Kai flashed just above its surface, ripping twin aerated water plumes into the air.
A grey destroyer sat broadside in the water just ahead. Roble hurtled toward its bow without slowing.
Crossing above the ship, the jet’s sonic shockwave rocked sailors to the deck as if Roble’s soul had exploded through their bodies. Sea spray from the wake doused the ship’s hull like an exclamation point.

It was a great book. The characters were developed in such a way as to tie them all together over the course of the book. It did have a taste of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, which I thoroughly loved.
Unique characters in a very interesting and enjoyable read!
One of THE best books I have read in a long, long, long time. A story of people who choose to dream and realize their dreams regardless of what “society” says should be done. People who believe in earning what they achieve and living with integrity.
Like a modern-times “Atlas Shrugged”, without the broken characters.
Ayn Rand was a heavy influence. You root for the ones who refuse to be limited by society’s rules and dictates.
It is a good story, with characters I’d like to meet involved in important undertakings, who don’t let social disapproval stop them.
very good plot, character development and all around great read.
Reminds me of Ayn Rand’s work
Good story with interesting characters. Seems like a retelling of Ann Ryand’s Atlas Shrugged but with planes. I really like planed, so this hit a sweet spot for me!
Shades of Ayn Rand! I gave 5 stars instead of my usual happy 4 because it’s fictional characters echo the fight between government controlling bureaucrats, who take a profit for stopping competition against the current crop of contract holders and those who dream of something bigger, better, and profitable.
Unlike Rand’s characters the fight is simmering at the end. You’ll be pulling for the erstwhile dreamers and shaking you head and the drones of bureaucracy before you get to the end.
Enjoy!
I found myself smiling all the way through. Perhaps the characters are on the spectrum. Either way, I found their behavior comedic and also wanted to be them on some level.
Best I’ve read in some time.
A very hot action packed techno thriller. If you ever imagined the different ways you could hot rod a high performance jet fighter this book will exponentially exceed the envelop of aeronautical performance. This book also explores the way big government can retard imagination and ingenuity with regards to engineering improvements.
Once you get into this book you won’t want to put it down.
Cheers

I enjoyed this book. It was a three day book.
shows the ability of man to rise above the masses, with many of the possible detrimental side effects, quick read with high tech sections, very uplifting and enjoyable.
Couldn’t finish this book. Clearly this author is an Ayn Rand fan, but neither the story nor the writing support a book of this length. If you’re a libertarian or a Rand fan you might enjoy it.
A bit of a ripoff of Ayn Rand, but well told.
Really liked this book, seemed to get a bit wordy and drawn out about two-thirds of the,way thru, but all in,all a good book.
rather long, but well worth th time. Great Character development.
I read hundreds of books every year, and have read thousands over my 67 years of life. I’ve also been a professional book reviewer for a fairly major newspaper. This book stands out even against that background. The author follows several characters who all have one thing in common – they have thrown off the shackles of expectations and difficulties of their circumstances, and remade their lives into what they have dreamed of. THe author weaves the story like a fine tapestry, following this strand and that through the fabric of their lives, drawing the readers deeper and deeper into this fascinating tale to a joyful and truimphant climax. An absolute delight to read, and with an ending that will leave you uplifted.
It just wasn’t the type of book to interest me. I could not read more than two chapters before I opened up a new book. Sorry, but I am sure others will love it.
