Danger has come to Kansas.
A motel is bombed.
A private investigator shot dead on the roadside.
His replacement? Ex-sheriff Pete Corson.
His assignment: Find little Ellie Melcher…the one case he can’t let go.
But kidnapped girls are hard to find.
Especially when someone wants Pete dead.
And in a town where you’re very unpopular, that leaves plenty of suspects.
This book is full of twists, turns and drama. Pete is a tenacious character. In the first book of the series, he was a sheriff. In this one, he’s a deputy. And, looks like, in the next one he may be a sheriff again. There’s never a dull moment. The storyline is very entertaining. Very good series I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review
It’s like coming home…..
…..to a life that’s not your own. Andrew Allan writes books that make you feel like your happy and comfortable to be there. The stories are exciting, interesting and have great characters. The latest about the unpopular Sherrif/Deputy is another winner. It’s a good, story that keeps you turning the pages, and at the same time you get to feel like your in the small town learning about your neighbors. Enjoy!
This series gets better with each one. Pete comes back and accepts a position as a deputy. A missing girl, murder, large cache of military weapons and facing an outlaw militia group. This is a page turning thriller.
The action is intense as disgrace former sheriff Pete returns to his home town. The characters are realistic and range from somewhat flawed to manic. The writing is smooth and easy to read. Much of the developments create a feeling of despair for the reader as the bad situations deteriorate. The level of tension grows through the book to a pinnacle at the end. I felt as though I had been holding my breath until the last chapter. I really enjoyed this book. I was an advanced reader for this author.
Sheriff Pete’s back, this time as a deputy in this well-told, spellbinder that will make it difficult for you to find a spot to stop and put it down (if you have other things to do!) Ellie is still missing, and well, without giving anything away, you need to get this book and read it to learn how things pan out. So before you one-click, here’s what you need to know: You have a great, well-written story, interesting and well-developed characters, and the second of two books that if you haven’t read the first one, you’ll certainly want to go back and do that. Easy enough to keep up, if this is the first, but easier to get into if you have the back story. Either way, you won’t be disappointed. Recommend this read without hesitation!
The Unpopular Deputy
Another great read from Andrew Allan
After reading The Unpopular Sheriff, I could not wait for the sequel, and as Pete puts it, Boy Howdy it is a stunner. This book picks up where the Unpopular Sheriff leaves off except Pete is ex sheriff and no longer a cop. He finds his way back to his home in Southern Kansas and that’s when he gets back involved with searching for kidnapped Ellie Melcher. Without spoiling the plot, he ends up working for the mother, then the police as a deputy. What follows is a raucous trip through most of Kansas, with plot twists and turns that are the trademark of Allan’s writing. If you liked Walt Asher you will love Pete. A well written quick read that wastes no time getting bogged down with superfluous page fillers. Can’t wait for his next adventure.
