The (Un)Lucky Succubus Omnibus takes L.L. Frost’s first three books in her (Un)Lucky Succubus series and gives them all to you in one place. You get the first several serials in the series all wrapped up in one as you follow Adie’s story. Adie – a succubus who seems to not be totally comfortable in her new skin and for good reason…she is too young to be in her new form. She grew impatient with the gathering of necessary energy and forced her way into existence outside Dreamland. She’s proud of what she is, but she’s not willing to really do what it takes to survive. She thinks she can make up her own rules and that they will keep her alive. Will it work? Well, just read along and see where her path takes her as she encounters some powerful demons and becomes their new roommate and succubus to take their excess energy.
This book, as noted is an omnibus, and if you want to jump ahead to a specific place in the storyline you are more than able to do so with ease. Book one lays the ground work for Adie’s story and how she gets her bakery. Book two takes readers deeper into Adie’s story as she begins to better understand her silliness/childish behavior when it comes to what she is and what she is NEEDED to do in concern to her three demons. Book three takes the storyline deeper as Adie and the guys begin to face new challenges that arise again and again.
I love the variety of characters that each piece of the story brings along. They are all so unique and its fun to experience their reactions as some of them are deemed less than safe at first glance amongst themselves. As they are demons it’s fun to read how they manipulate each other at times in making deals to get what it is that they want. The storyline is engaging and kept me hooked most of the time.
Now, yes, there are things that I didn’t like in the books. Not gonna lie…Adie got on my nerves quite a bit. She’s a succubus, so when she wants to metaphorically chain the guys with her ridiculous rules I honestly wanted to grab her and shake her. I mean…she’s a succubus! She’s meant to do the very things that she’s fighting against! Also…I honestly hated it when she wanted to go around like a petulant entitled child. She wanted to act like everyone should give her the answers she’s looking for. When she’s told to go back to Dreamland to get stronger, she refuses, so I’m like…suck it up and figure it out then.
While I may complain about certain things in this omnibus, the fact remains that I loved it. Adie is immature quite often, but she does begin to mature a bit here and there and stop fighting reality. The storyline does get slow in places, but then the author knows how to hook you back in and keep you page-turning. If you’ve read the serial or have been curious but wanted to wait for the omnibus then I highly recommend that you grab this book. I am rating this omnibus an overall 4.5 out of 5 stars.
