Oh my goodness. This fantasy story literally had me on the edge of my seat. I kid you not.
So much action, tension, passion. I’m gushing here. I was so immersed in this book. It was so good.
This has to be one of the best fantasy adventure series ever.
Rock on for book 2.
I thought the first quest was fraught with danger. It was but not like this one! Wow! This was also a book of incredible revelations. On this quest the companions find other types of inhabitants of their world and they also uncover a disturbing betrayal. I am looking forward to reading about their journey to the Southern Kingdom!
Another mystery, another adventure, more questions, some answers, touch of romance, fun characters and plenty of unicorns! Freya has definitely grown and sets upon a quest that moves quickly but filled with suspense. I recommend reading book 1 first so to have a better understanding of the story and characters. Throughly enjoyed this one and impatiently waiting for the next one.
I have read the first book in this serie and really didn’t want to miss the sequel. The Unicorn Quest is book 2 in Realm of Light and fire serie by J.A.Armitage and J.A. Culican.
After the event of The Unicorn Key, everything is finally back to normal. Until one of Freya’s friend, Jet, is kidnapped. Meaning another foe is out there, one far more deadly than the Dark Fae Lord.
Freya’s and her gang most go into a new adventures to find their shifter friend and making sure that the second unicorn key doesn’t fall into the enemy hands. Since Jet was in possession of the first one.
Really loved it and can’t wait for the next book in this serie. I have received an arc of this book by J.A. Armitage.
Having read the first one in this series I did not want to miss this one. Entering this world I shook off the cares of now to continue on to see where I would be led next. You know you have to have some excitement sooner or later because that is just the way it is. That is also what you get here. Kidnapping will kick in the adrenaline with having to see if a rescue can occur. Mysteries galore will come open in this one having us wonder from time to time. Many elements will have to be faced in this one. Old and new friends will come around also. This is one that will have the strength to keep us in the pages until we reach the end looking to find the opening to the next one.
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
The second instalment in the Unicorn Key book’s, is a real page turner. It’s got a bit of everything you want in a book.
It’s got romance and mystery, with all sorts of magical creatures, unicorns, dragons and ogres to name but a few
This book is well written and will have you reading well into the small hours of the morning
It’s definitely a book I’d recommend, well a series I’d recommend and I can’t wait for the next instalment to see what happens next to our intrepid explorers
I have been waiting for The Unicorn Quest, seeing that the series does not stand alone. Have to keep reading to know the ending, and there is more to come.
I love unicorns and dragons, so this is a perfect fit for me. I’m back with some familiar friends, humans, unicorns and dragon shifters, and a couple of pixies.
Freya and River have become more than friends. Their romance is a slow burn and I love that they take their time, getting to know each other.
I am curious about River’s mom. Is it good? Bad? Why does he not want Freya to meet her?
The gang is off on a new adventure when Jet, a unicorn shifter that holds a key, is kidnapped. They know the why, but who has taken him? And where?
They travel through mountains, cities, on a river in their quest to find their unicorn friend and protect the world from the evil that wants to bring it down.
Danger, betrayal and treachery come from known and unknown sources as they search for the pendants that can keep the world safe.
We do find time for love and romance and new friends.
They had one success and one failure on their mission and that leaves us with another story. Unicorns, dragons, witches, some familiar and some new supernatural beings, making me question, who is friend and who is foe?
I enjoyed the fact that I didn’t know all that would happen and the end was not known until I got there. The writing is great and the storyline is one I enjoy. I didn’t feel that, I can’t put it down feeling, an urgency to race through the pages. Is it because it wasn’t aimed at me, but teens and young adults? Is it because I have been devouring books and want that shock factor? Either way, I enjoyed the story and look forward to finding all the answers and saving the world.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of The Unicorn Quest by J A Culican

YA epic fantasy w/ shifters. It has the requisite travel in search of relics, but mostly centers on one locale. It seems there is quite a bit more going on than our intrepid heroes knew, and the problem they thought they solved just became a whole lot bigger. Exciting expansion of this world with some interesting subplots. Blu and Ivy stole every scene they were in!
Because this seemed targeted at more of a YA audience I will mention that two young unmarried characters become very intimate emotionally, and this leads to physical intimacy. It is closed door/fade to black.
This is book 2 in the trilogy. The Unicorn Key (Book 1) could have been a standalone, but really does set up everything for this book. That said, there is enough information that you can read this book without having read The Unicorn Key, BUT you need to read book 2 before book 3. While it does not end in a cliff hanger per se, there is much left unfinished and answered in the larger quest introduced in this book.
A fantastic read that grabs you from the first page to the last. Its an epic read, The scenes are written so well that I can picture them in my minds eye. This is a real page turner with twists and turns that keeps you enthralled with this read. I definitely recommend this captivating read. Its a must read.

Freya, Jet and others (including new friends) are back in the second installment of J.A. Culican and J.A.Armitage’s superb Realm of Light and Fire series. I loved Book 1 in this series (The Unicorn Key, separately reviewed) and if you did too then I can pretty much guarantee you’ll love The Unicorn Quest (Book2). Newcomers will find this book equally enjoyable though, while it can be read standalone, the best thing to do is to start with Book 1. Set in the same perfect world of unicorns, mages, evil gryphons and dragon shifters, the authors gift us with another superbly written plot filled with action (and a bit of romance) that’s complex but easy to follow and wonderfully exciting. A wild and fun ride with perfectly crafted characters this book is most definitely highly recommended, and easily worth five stars.
I quite enjoyed the first book in the series, and I looked forward to the second book. Freya has been home for a month since her last adventure, and she is still affected by it. But she’s glad to see her grandfather back to normal. However, it doesn’t take long for another crisis to hit, and Freya and gang must help fix what’s gone wrong. I liked this book better than the first one, and I liked this adventure better. This book is well-written, and the plot was very interesting. It reads more like a YA/NA at times which isn’t my favorite genre. And, to be completely honest, I’m not overtly fond of one of the characters. Other than that, this was a great book, and I’m looking forward to the next. Recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Great book!!!
For me, this second installment is so much better than the first one, fast paced, well written, unexpected twists and turns that will keep you on edge, the relationships between the characters get stronger and deeper, where in some case is friendship and in another is love, that gives them the strenght to keep figthing united, loyal to each other, to keep the unicorns safe from the new evil that is rising, putting their world in danger one more time… Now with a new ally, they will head to the southern kingdom to find the third and final key… Looking forward to read their new adventures!!!
Interesting read. I really enjoyed reading about Freya’s adventures in this second installment of The Realm of Light and Fire.
This was a good second installment for this series. I liked the storyline and characters. The crew is together again. Jet and the key are missing so a new quest has begun, full of danger, some action, adventure, magic and romance. Opal is feeling lonely with Diamond slowly passing and to hear that the only other unicorn, her brother, has been kidnapped is too much to handle, she will do anything to get him back and if the key has fallen into the wrong hands the whole world is at stake. This book is well-written and easy to read with some great twists that’s definitely worth giving a read.
After returning home from an adventure she never wanted, Freya is settling in and enjoying her life. Her grandfather is getting better, and she has a new boyfriend. Unfortunately, her friend Jet has disappeared. Freya will be drawn once again into a quest, to not only find another key, she will be hunting for the person who took her friend. They thought they had banished the evil who wanted to turn their world to darkness, but in the Western Kingdom while searching for the Scarlett key, they will find out that another evil took their friend and is also looking for the keys.
Fascinating, and unique characters that are on a quest to find a magical object to keep it from the hands of evil. Action packed, exciting, magic, and magical beings, with unexpected twists in the plot. I think this is a must read book in a series that keeps getting better. Fantastic!
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
Freya makes plan to go looking for more unicorns after learning that her friend Diamond may not be the only unicorn left. To find more unicorns they need a key if they are going to find other unicorns to keep Diamond from being the last of her kind.
Freya learns that Diamond gave the key to their friend Jet as he was leaving on a mission of his own. After Jet doesn’t return from his mission everyone fears that Jet has been taken. Freya with the help of her friends set out on a journey to find Jet and locate the key.
The Unicorn Quest is a fast pace read that kept me glued to the pages barely able to turn them fast enough as the suspense ramped up the old adrenaline with each turn of the pages as Freya, River, Cassie and the others set out on their quest to find the key and Jet.
The Unicorn Quest is filled with action from beginning to end as the story unfolds and reveals all its secrets. The Unicorn Quest is so vividly written that I could see it all playing out in my head like a movie.
This duo is amazing together. Each book they write just seems to get better and better. Hey, do you have authors that you don’t have to read the summary of their books they write to know that they will be good? Well this duo is like that for me. I don’t have to read the summary of their books to know that I am going to like it.
I would recommend The Unicorn Quest to all fans of unicorns, shifters, and magic. I would also recommend any book by both authors as I know they would all be a great read.
