For two sworn enemies, anything can happen during the Hawaiian trip of a lifetime–maybe even love–in this romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling authors of Roomies.
Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion…she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas.
Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly there’s a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo.
Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is…Olive doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be.
With Christina Lauren’s “uniquely hilarious and touching voice” (Entertainment Weekly), The Unhoneymooners is a romance for anyone who has ever felt unlucky in love.

Full of banter and laughs, The Unhoneymooners had me swooning all night (and well into the morning).
Personnally, I found that the scene which took place at the cousin’s restaurant to be a bit much, but I have to say I just loved this story
Loved the way this book was written and the different layers within the story. Such a compelling story that drew me in and kept me wanting more all the way to the end. Can’t wait to read more from these authors.
This book was just fantastic I loved the whole story! I’m such a fan of enemies to lovers and this book ticked all the boxes!!
From the time the wedding started until the honey moon ended the adventure Olive and Ethan had was just awesome I loved the way the interacted. Their personality’s I love a real character she wasn’t all sun shine and rainbows she was real and raw and awesome. Ethan was one of those characters that developed into the beat book boy friend ever.
I really loved this book I didn’t want to put it down. The writing style was awesome I loved the family and how it all went down a must read.
Olive wants nothing more than to get herself together she wants to feel like she has it all covered but underneath she’s a mess she has no direction and she just wants to figure out what to do to be more like her twin who has every thing figured out.
One bad thing after another happens to Olive including taking the vacation of a life time with her enemy. Ethan seems like the jet setting adventure type. Handsome put together and full of life one problem he hates Olive and they are going to Hawaii together for 10 days. Can they make it and live to tell the tale?
A lot can happen in 10 days mistakes were made. Friendships were formed. It was just so good. I wish there was a second one!!
These two ladies know how to write some of the best banter in Contemporary Romance books! This story is a perfect example and is an enemies to lovers story!
Olive Torres is the twin that always has bad luck. Now Olive’s twin sister, Amelia “Ami” is getting married to Dean. Ami ended up entering contest and won just about everything for her entire wedding, even the seafood buffet that ends up getting the entire wedding sick except for Olive, (because of her seafood allergy she ate chicken) and the best man, Ethan Thomas, brother of Dean (who will not eat food from a buffet). When everyone is either throwing up or having bathroom issues, Ami and Dean convince Olive and Ethan to go on their Maui, HI honeymoon. Even though these two don’t like each other, they agree to go and pretend to be on their honeymoon.
As these two spend more time together, they start to realize that they actually do like each other and they are having more fun than they thought. In typical Olive luck, she runs into her new boss and has to lie that she is there on her honeymoon. Her and Ethan also run into his old girlfriend and continue the ruse. Half way through the trip, it starts to feel more like a real honeymoon….in all ways! 😉 As these two talk more, Olive starts to realize that Ethan’s brother may be cheating on his wife and feels like she needs to tell Ami. As these two head back to Minnesota as a couple, things start to fall apart when secrets are opened up. Some hearts end up broken, some hearts end up healed but it will take a huge grand gesture to for Olive and Ethan to find their own happy ending, but thankfully they do.
I just adored these characters. They were both so fun and I just loved their banter. I loved the names they kept calling each other! LOL I even adored Olive’s crazy family! They all were such a hoot! Read this book….you will not be sorry!
Romantic, comical, Whitty! Good summer read. I finished this so quick! The relationship draws you in making you feel like you are apart of their summer fling.
I found myself laughing out loud and smiling throughout. Great read!
I was excited for this one. Heard good things, but also had one review that made me wonder if I’d like it. In the end I loved it. I kind of wish we’d had Ethan’s point of view the whole way through, but I guess it totally worked this way. I didn’t see one of the little twists that we got thrown. I love that when that happens! It was another great book from this author duo. I was worried about the narrator at first, because I think I’ve had issues with her in the past, but in the end she worked. Then, I’ve never seen the movie or read the book Fried Green Tomatoes, so I was wondering if what they talk about is really in the book/movie!
3.5 stars
While I like the bickering banter between Olive and Ethan, I felt it went on a tad bit too long before some truths were finally admitted. It was a good choice to keep that little bit of contention with this couple, even when their feelings came through. I really enjoyed these two more when they were working together rather than contradicting everything.
The first half of this book was just okay for me. Nothing earth shattering, but still fun and interesting. It’s the second half of the story where things really came alive for me. I finally started feeling the emotions I had been reading about up until that point. Olive goes through the wringer and had me blinking back tears on multiple occasions. It was interesting to watch her figure out who she was. Not who she always thought she was, not who her family thought she was, but who Olive really and truly was in her soul.
While I hurt for Olive and, quite a few times, got angry at Ethan, there was still some sympathy I felt for him. He had to totally change the way he thought about multiple people. Everything he’d been told and all his mind told him was true over the years was a farce. He was hurt in multiple ways and it’s a testament to his character that he could learn to trust anyone again.
These authors are new to me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. And while the story, tone, and writing style weren’t quite what I had anticipated, I still enjoyed the book. I’m sure I’ll pick something up by them again in the not too distant future.

The perfect beach read. This book is pure, fizzy fun.
Christina Lauren really can’t put a foot wrong. I think I’d read their grocery lists. Not actually do the shopping for them or anything. But yeah, I’d probably read the list.
Oh, this was fun. An unabashed romance but with a strong story around it, fun characters, believable twists keeping the main pair apart… just an all around entertaining read.
Rating: 4.5
The Unhoneymooners was a fun and easy read. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, even though I felt that Ethan should have done a bit more groveling.
I won a copy of this book from the Goodreads Giveaways, I was not required to give a favorable review. This was a really funny romantic story. Olive and Ami are twin sisters, Olive always seems to have bad luck, she had her PhD in Biology but has lost her job and is helping her sister plan her wedding, but is looking for a new one while helping. Dane is engaged to marry Ami and he has told his older brother Ethan that Olive wasn’t a very happy person and not to bother with her expect when he had too. So on the wedding day the both don’t eat the seafood buffet for the wedding they are the only ones who don’t get sick. So Ami & Dane tell them to take the honeymoon to Hawaii. Olive at the airport finds that job she applied is hiring her and she explains she can’t start until after the trip. Little did she know the company CEO would be there with his wife, and Olive & Ethan lied that they were married since they were on the honeymoon package win, and his ex-girlfriend is there with her new boyfriend. What turns out 2 people thinking that hate each other turns into such a great story.
Everything!!!
Didn’t finish it, just didn’t get ab my attention
Perfect summer reading material. I always feel like Christina and Lauren’s main female characters are so relatable in one way or another to a variety of readers. Anytime a character is feeling lost in life, I am going to eat that up. Olive’s a bit lost in many ways, and watching her discover herself was wonderful.
Bahaha, I’m just realizing that I made the book sound kind of heavy. This is a very light read for the most part. I found myself genuinely laughing so many times throughout the book. It did take me about thirty or forty pages to get really into it, but The Unhoneymooners is a winner for me this year.
I needed this book. It was the perfect combination of light, funny & passionate. I don’t know how they do it but authors Christina Lauren make the magic happen. After Roomies, this was my next favourite book of theirs!
Summary: Olive, the ‘unlucky one’ is one of the two people at her twin’s wedding who doesn’t end up with food poisoning. Instead, she ends up standing in for her sister at the all expense paid honeymoon trip to Hawaii! The only unlucky catch here is that she has to pretend to be married to and spend the trip with her sworn Enemy, and the groom’s brother, Ethan.
Eventually however, both Ethan and Olive are equally surprised to find themselves… enjoying each other’s company throughout the trip. And slowly falling for each other! When it comes to laughter and wit, this book has it all! If you’re looking for one on the lighter side, this book is the one!
What I loved:
OLIVE. I loved her and everything about her. Every time she stood up to someone, I found myself slow clapping in my head. There wasn’t a moment in the story where I felt as though this character was not relatable. Everything from her insecurities to her awkwardness made me feel like she’s a little bit of every woman.
I loved her family and how they supported her every step of the way.
And I especially loved the writing in this book. I had just gotten off an emotional roller coaster when I picked this up, and this was a book simple enough to steady me. Just what I needed. The writing was brilliant — as though I was on the honeymoon with the honeymooners.
What I wished there was more of:
Olive and Ethan together. Don’t get me wrong, their relationship in this story has a perfect arc. It leaves you content with how their journey progressed, but the couple is so adorable that you’re left wanting more. That’s all. I wanted more of them because the last few chapters felt a little bit rushed.
Overall, this story was perfect. It had humour, a touch of drama, emotion and most importantly – a strong, badass woman as the lead!
Another great book by these authors!
