For two sworn enemies, anything can happen during the Hawaiian trip of a lifetime–maybe even love–in this romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling authors of Roomies.
Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion…she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas.
Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly there’s a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo.
Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is…Olive doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be.
With Christina Lauren’s “uniquely hilarious and touching voice” (Entertainment Weekly), The Unhoneymooners is a romance for anyone who has ever felt unlucky in love.

Absolutely adored this book!
The Unhoneymooners is a Christina Lauren must-read. The banter between Olive and Ethan is nonstop charming and loaded with chemistry. I had a few out loud laughs and devoured the book in one day. If you are looking for a fun rom-com that keeps you hooked and takes you on a needed Hawaiian vacation, look no further.
I laughed until I cried. Olive and Ethan are the most perfect couple. Their attraction to each other is hilarious.
Cristina Lauren did it again, this book was awesome! It totally lives up to the hype that’s it’s been getting since it released. I always get so giddy when I pick up an enemies to lovers book because they are my favorite and this book definitely lived up to my expectations. Olive and Ethan have great banter throughout the book, I was laughing out loud almost from the first page. I also loved how things turn serious when it came to family, trust and honesty. This book is the perfect summer read!
3.5 stars
This book was funny and entertaining, I liked the main couple until they fought for a third person, I think the heroine overreacted and was very immature.
My third experience reading Christina Lauren and I can officially say that they can’t write a bad book.
This was clever, witty and charming. Delightful to read.
While I adored the narrative and the romance of this book, the highlight was all of the family stuff. I always love books that have the heart of the story be about family, so this will most likely be my favourite Christina Lauren book.
I also couldn’t put this book down. It’s not common for me to finish a 400+ page book in under a day, but I was completely taken over with this story and the characters.
So happy to add this to my list of favourite books.
Awesome Awesome book
This was a cute romance containing twins, brothers, nosy family and absolutely horrible brides maid dresses! Olive and Amy are twins. Amy has been the confident, knows-what-she wants sister since Olive can remember and she has always directed Olive on the right path. Olive has always been the unlucky twin and has been in more unthinkable circumstances and embarrassing moments than anyone should have to suffer through in a life time.
Amy is getting married to Dane Thomas, and Olive can’t stand his brother Ethan and tries her best to steer clear of him as much as possible. But now circumstances have occurred that send Olive and Ethan on Amy & Dane’s honeymoon! 10 days in Maui, who could pass it up when it’s free?
Olive and Ethan take off on an adventure of fun and relaxation, attempting to stay away from each other as much as possible, but the unthinkable happens to push them together at every opportunity. See how this quirky romance pulls the two together in some of the most funny circumstances possible. Then they have to return home to their family, how will they explain themselves? I can’t spoil the fun of finding out how this ends.
I’ve read a lot of romance novels. Like, really – a lot. But there are few books I’ve encountered with characters as fresh and funny and REAL as Olive and Ethan. Their relationship is adorable. Although I found the situation throwing them together a little unbelievable, it was also hysterical.
Chronically unlucky Olive has to go on a fake honeymoon with Ethan, a man she hates, after everyone else at sister’s wedding is stricken with food poisoning. She eventually learns Ethan is not the man she thought he was, and that maybe she doesn’t actually hate him after all.
This is a light, funny, completely enjoyable read. Olive feels more like a friend than a character, and her interactions with Ethan were delightfully snarky and completely different from a typical romance novel. I loved their banter, and the way they grew to understand and respect one another.
I couldn’t put it down. I stayed up reading it far too late last night, and that’s really the only negative thing I have to say about this lovely little book. It was honestly, and in completely unexpected ways, delightful.
Very entertaining and humorous book. It was one that I could not put down and finished in a weekend. I found it to be predictable in parts but it was still an enjoyable read. I love how in the end Olive’s sister solves the issue with her new husband. It was classic and she should have received a standing ovation. I also enjoyed the secondary problem that Olive identifies during the vacation and after regarding her career choice and I love that in the end she did not settle for a job making large amounts of money but instead settled for something she enjoyed while making a comfortable living.
Christina Lauren at their best, funniest, sweetest…and the list goes on. I’m always amazed at all the way they manage to get the characters naked. Lol Loves it per usual.
“The Unhoneymooners” by Christina Lauren is another hit for this writing duo. I’ve been a fan of these authors for a while now, gobbling up each book as soon as it’s released. The writing and characters are so entertaining – I’m always confident that I will enjoy anything written by these two.
If you are a fan of their work or of contemporary romance, this is a great addition to your book collection.
Happy Reading…enjoy!
I loved this book! It may be my new favorite of all the Christina Lauren books!
The Unhoneymooners is the quintessential beach read. I am somewhat embarrassed by how quickly I read it and how much I enjoyed it; by my normal metrics, it shouldn’t have even been on my radar.
Christina Lauren’s premise is absurd: all of the guests, members of the wedding party, and – gasp – bride (Ami) and groom (Dane) become immediately and violently ill from the shellfish buffet at a the reception. All, that is, except the bride’s twin sister, Olive, who is deathly allergic to seafood, the the groom’s older brother, Ethan, who has a complete and total aversion to all buffets. He also has a complete and total aversion to Olive, who is equally (un)enamored of Ethan. But, suddenly, there’s a fully-paid and non-refundable honeymoon to Maui up for grabs and neither Olive nor Ethan is about to let the other have all the fun. Also, Ami and Dane won the trip, and it must be taken as a honeymoon.
So, drama. Lots and lots of drama. I won’t go as far as the quote on the cover and declare this book “downright hilarious,” but it was an incredibly fun read, a statement I make despite the fact that it was totally predictable and also that I found a few of the plot elements more than a little far-fetched. (I’ve been on lots of snorkel trips. Lots. I’ve never once seen anyone attempt to change from their swimsuit to their clothes while still on the boat. But I digress.)

Had me laughing through most of the book. Loved the H/h.
It was great. Never wanted to start another book (I do that a lot). It would make a good movie!
Contrived. Nothing new or very interesting here. Give this one a pass–I wish I had.
Confession: “The Unhoneymooners” is my “bookstagram-made-me-read-it” book of the month. This released earlier this year, and multiple bookstagrammers recommended it as a fun summer read. It had great dialogue and was a cute story, and the few steamier parts were short enough to skip over easily. Overall, I’d recommend it for a fun beach read!
Fun story. Easy to read
Cute, but predictable romance. When Ami and her new husband, Dane, can’t go on their honeymoon, they beg Olive and Ethan to take their place. The problem is that Olive and Ethan don’t like each other- or do they?
There were moments in this book when I laughed out loud, but other times I thought the authors were trying to make every sentence funny. It seemed they were trying a little too hard at times. I also thought that about 25-50 pages could have been cut.
Overall, I did enjoy the book, and when I want to read something light, I may look for another of their books.
