In this epic American novel, which served as the basis for the classic film directed by John Huston, a family is torn apart when an old enemy starts a vicious rumor that sets the range aflame.
All of Alan Lemays books are well worth reading and historical. He keeps the conversations interesting without having to resort to filthy language and describes the characters and location so that you feel you’re a part of the story.

I didn’t know this was an old book and a movie was made of the story in the 60s. A simple but interesting story. I liked the characters.

Love this book upon which the Burt Lancaster/Audrey Hepburn movie was based. A little different than the movie. Unfortunately it contains Very racist language, which is likely realistic to the time depicted. But it can be rough to read it.

Excellent for the Western genre! Many years ago, I watched the very fine movie with Burt Lancaster & Audrey Hepburn. Although the book is very similar to the movie it had enough detail and variation to capture my full interest.
