— Double Carol Award-winner (Best Debut Novel, Best Historical Fiction) —Patrick Collins has three items on his Christmas list. He wants the army to find his father. He wants to leave his grandfather’s house. And he wants–very badly–the wooden soldier tucked away in his grandfather’s attic. Set at Christmastime in 1943, The Unfinished Gift is an engaging family story that reminds us of the … of the surprising things that can affect powerful change in our hearts–-like a young boy’s desperate prayers, a shoebox full of love letters, even a dusty, long-forgotten wooden soldier.

Love his books!!
I recommend it. I realized part way in that I had already read it, but finished it again.
Pick up a copy of ‘The Unfinished Gift’ and let author Dan Walsh draw you into storylines with characters that tug on your heartstrings and inspire faith. . Mr
Walsh begins the story with the most expressive writing of someone’s thoughts while traveling in the backseat of an unknown car. Each thought reveals a little more and the pages keep turning till the unfinished gift is finished and presented. In between the car and the end is a beautifully written goodread that can lift spirits and restore faith in just believing. No stopping now, book 2, ‘The Homecoming’ is next to continue the story.
The Unfinished Gift is by far my favorite book by author Dan Walsh.

Our heart goes out to the characters, each one unforgettable, revealing our own lives and feelings. Wonderful uplifting ending.
this is the first time I finished the last page of a book and within five minutes bought the sequel. Dan Walsh writes a most compelling story
Dan Walsh is one of my favorite authors.
It is a while since I read this book, but I do remember that it was one of my favourites ever!
This was a sweet book. Not your typical story, and issues that come up in many families and today’s world enve. It seemed true to the time it was set in and very heart felt.
This is about a old man who hates everything and everybody. He is having to raise a grandson he has never seen and not wanted too after the death of his daughter-in-law. His son at war without any knowledge of things on the home front. You will feel so sorry for the little boy. See how this little boys changes his personality and religious views. Don’t miss out on reading this book.
