— Double Carol Award-winner (Best Debut Novel, Best Historical Fiction) —Patrick Collins has three items on his Christmas list. He wants the army to find his father. He wants to leave his grandfather’s house. And he wants–very badly–the wooden soldier tucked away in his grandfather’s attic. Set at Christmastime in 1943, The Unfinished Gift is an engaging family story that reminds us of the … of the surprising things that can affect powerful change in our hearts–-like a young boy’s desperate prayers, a shoebox full of love letters, even a dusty, long-forgotten wooden soldier.

Shows that human character does not change.
A tender and beautiful story with endearing characters! A perfect Christmas story that warms the heart. Loved it!
Such a good story but also true of many people today.
I love this author’s historical mysteries but sometimes his vignettes seem predictable. They’re still a pleasant read and give insight into the setting and characters. They always offer inspiration.
Exceptional!

Could not put down! Twists & turns. Such an inspirational read!
A reality for so many in the 1940s.
Showing how so much faith instilled will take you through. Opened my eyes how much we take for granted. God has a plan, even though we can’t see it.
Jesus, faith and prayer, brings you through the worst trials and how your light from God saves others around you.
I loved this book!! I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend reading this book!
This is one of the best books ever! Dan Walsh has a great talent of making his characters come alive. Patrick, a seven hear old boy who is the real hero of the story loses his mother and his father is off at war. What he goes through is totally amazing. I highly recommend this! I would give it ten stars if I could.
I loved it so much that i got the sequel “The Homecomng.” My husband is currently reading them and also loves them. Dan is an excellent writer.
