Very well written and interesting. Not your usual spy story
It was refreshing to read about an older woman who is the heroine of the story.
A friend recommended this book for me to read and I’m so glad she did. It was such a good book from start to finish, interesting, exciting, unexpected and funny too. Once I finished I had to get the next one. So loved the characters and storyline!!!!
After having read other Mrs. Pollifax books long ago this is the first time I read the first of the series and I was not disappointed in the least! She is so unassuming but very ingenious! Loved it even though it really had me on the edge of my seat and I could not lay the book down to go to bed!
When the CIA wants a tourist–a special kind of tourist, one who never be suspected of espionage–and a lonely, bored widow finds life very empty, the outcome is a routine assignment that goes massively awry. The resourcefulness of a full life lived with grit and mercy stands Emily Pollifax in good stead as she must survive capture and escape. …
This is the firsts book in an absolutely wonderful and charming series. I read these books once as a younger woman and again as a “woman of a certain age” and found them both times to be delightful.
Everyone should have a bit of Mrs. Polifax’s spirit within them!
I liked that the heroine was older. The story moved at a good pace.
I have read all but one book in series. Enjoyed all as I had been to most of the locations. A few of the plot a little far fetched but fun feads
What a joy to read! Great, well rounded characters, witty dialogue, very descriptive, actually sorry when story was ended. Will definitely read more of this author’s work.
Wow, what a fun book. Emily Pollifax is a widow living in NJ. Her children are grown and live far away. She is involved in lots of charities, but she is bored. She goes to DC and walks into the CIA and asks for a job as a spy. She sent to Mexico City to be a tourist and pick up a package. She has a great time in Mexico, but when she goes to pick …
Easy read but enjoyable
Easy light read. Mrs. Pollifax goes from contemplating jumping off her building to becoming a spy for the CIA. And, all because she was older, bored, and felt useless.
Cute story. Mrs. P keeps surprising everyone, mostly, by staying alive.
I liked this. Mrs. P befriended everyone, always polite and gracious, but she got the job done.
Need to …
Loved it!
Enjoyed it, liked the twists and turns it took! Easy to read, a page turner!
A pleasant escape from a middle of the road, boring retired life. Enjoy a fun, improbable adventure with Mrs. Pollifax. I found I wanted to read more adventures.
