I LOVE this series. I have read and re-read it many times over the years. Having been written over 30 years ago, does nothing to diminish the story, the relevance, the people; as a matter of fact, it shows very clearly how history repeats itself. I read this when I was younger and loved the series. And I’ve re-read the entire series several times …
I loved ready it because its fun a
nd makes me feel good
Love all of the series!
My rainy day read is The Unexpected Mrs. Polifax by Dorothy Gilman (Butters)
A delightful and exciting adventure that reminds us that age does not have to be a limitations. The first and best book of the great series begins when Mrs. Emily realizes that she feels that her life has not purpose or value. Her doctor recommends that she take up a …
This book from the 60s, which I decided to re-read recently (which led me to reread all the others in the series as well) is the comfort read I needed. Not perfect (I saw some imperfections and didn’t care a bit). I still loved it. If you are ever feeling a bit down in the dumps or want to escape your unsolvable problems, you might try this …
Intelligently and well written. Love any Mrs. Pollifax.
Loved the entire series!
I love all the Mrs. Pollifax books! She is a widow with grown children who is bored with her life and becomes a secret agent. She is hilarious, but very intelligent and good at her job. I was hooked from the beginning.
A delighted read. Such fun to watch this lovely lady unravel mysteries.
Dated but timeless
This is such a fun series. It is an older colder war spy story. Mrs. Pollifax is a widow looking for a way be useful so she joins the CIA. She maybe older than other spies but she uses her life experiences and her optimism to help her out. In this one she travels to Mexico for what should be a simple operation only to have everything go wrong. …
Slow moving and silly.
Love all of her books!
So refreshing to read about an adventurous and resourceful senior citizen who always saves the day. Whether it’s her little old lady tourist act or her karate chop or just plain good sense, Mrs. Polifax is always a great read.
I think I have read it 10 or more times. HIGHLY recommend. One my list of 10 most loved books and I am 67!
fun mystery with a likable sleuth. great for a cosy light read.
Mrs P is wonderful. Start with her first book and read in order…a must..watch her development. What a joyful, unpretentious lady. Too bad the series ended….I would have continued to buy all Mrs P’s mysteries forever.
I first read this book over 20 years ago. If is an easy read. Mrs. P is much like Christies Miss Marple but with better karate skills.
She is a dear and a wonder
I love all of the Mrs. Polifax books. Being a woman of a certain age, I find it
interesting, and entertaining. How she manages to get in and out of her predicaments, by being the sweet little old lady is amazing. Might not appeal to a younger generation, but great for 60+ women who seek adventure from their arm chairs.
