Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She’s made a mistake so huge, it’ll wreck any chance of a partnership. Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she’s mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. … housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they’ve hired a lawyer–and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can’t sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope–and finds love–is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake.
But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does…will she want it back?

I laughed until I cried—very funny!
Love this book! Have read it a few times when I just need something light and entertaining and upbeat. I think we can all relate to that feeling of being overwhelmed with work and everything else falls by the wayside. The main character reminds me of Bridget Jones. Her world is turned upside down and she handles things in a funny way. You can just picture her in that kitchen trying to cover up her messes. Loved the romance and loved that it makes you take a step back and realize you have to slow down and enjoy life along the way. Great summer beach read. Or great winter read when it’s cold and snowing outside and you’re curled up in a comfy chair with hot chocolate.
Loved it!
Save yourself….Her repetitive, negative, stream-of-conscience babble gave me a headache.
Great read. Loved the book.
Humorous with a twist of real insight into finding how to make life work for you.
Light summer read, predictable plot
Yeah. Loved this book, too.
Fun read! Cute Story with a HEA
This book is a fun, light read.
Fun summer read. My first time to read this author and I was on a rd trip.
I thought the pace was good and enjoyed the characters, but I was a little heavy on the negative lawyers as a profession angle.
Laugh out loud funny. Great book to brighten up your day!
For those of us whose careers have approached a level of madness, this delightful book strikes a chord. For those of you who aspire to greatness in high-flying professions, take heed. For those of you who are the plumbers, electricians, mechanics and waitresses of the world, God bless!
Just can’t get into this one. A real disappointment.
This was a silly, fun read. Nothing realistic about it.
Not war and peace .. but an engaging light beach read !
Ditsy
Between heavy books on real life I needed something light and whimsical This book really fit the bill Thanks
What a delightful book! This is a new way of looking at the choices woman (and sometimes men) make when they decide to follow careers which require working hours which often interfere with normal living requiring giving up too much. Of course, the definition of what is “too much” is different for different people, of this is a great example of how one person made that decision. A great read for many!
Loved it. Very entertaining Book to read.
