A Libertine… Jeremy Greymont certainly qualifies. ‘Sex rough and women loose’ is his credo—one he’s always taken very seriously, with no deference whatsoever to the society into which he’s been born. He’s been perfectly content milling along through life on an existence of courtesans and fine Scotch whisky…that is until his grandfather lets him know he’s out of time, and his station in life … station in life comes with duties attached. Jeremy must produce an heir—posthaste. Lucky for him, the lovely Georgina is the perfect answer to his predicament and intrigues him like no other woman before her.
Jeremy can’t wait to make her his lady and begin working on creating that heir he needs so badly. He’s even willing to tone down his preference for the wild romps he’s always enjoyed in the bedchamber, just for her sake. There will be plenty of time to teach his innocent bride all about that after the wedding, right? No, not even close. Georgina’s demons trump Jeremy’s in so many ways. A brutal assault has left her wounded and vowing she can be wife to no man—not even Jeremy Greymont.
What is a libertine to do?

awesome
The Undoing of a Libertine was a heart-achingly beautiful, touching and very sensual story. This historical romance had love and passion in abundance as well as tragedy and angst. But as in all Raine Miller books we get a well-deserved HEA for our two protagonists after they’ve been trough some challenging trials and tribulations and experienced the healing power of love. I found myself once again in awe of this author’s exceptional talent. Raine’s ability to write captivating stories that go under your skin and create wonderful characters that leave a mark on your heart and soul is nothing short of remarkable. I’ve been a huge fan of her work for years.
Jeremy Greymont is a shameless libertine in his thirties who lives a careless life full of vices. Scotch and courtesans are his preferred company rather than the stuck-up, pretentious polite society. But when his grandfather sets him an ultimatum to marry and produce an heir in order to fulfill his obligation towards his family Jeremy finds himself in a predicament. Luckily for him his friend, Tom Russell, has a younger sister in her early twenties whose father is desperately trying to get her off his hands. Georgina has always intrigued him with her beauty, spirit and confidence but she’s now changed into a skittish and anxious woman. Jeremy feels drawn to the lovely Miss Russell like a moth to a flame and can’t wait to finally make her his wife and bed her. What he doesn’t know is that Georgina’s reluctance to marry and fullfil her marital duties in the bedroom is based on a traumatic brutal assault she still has not fully recovered from. Jeremy vows to be gentle and patient with his bride and to protect her. Can the charming, wickedly handsome rake entice Georgina to trust him fully with her body and heart?
Jeremy and Georgina were two well-developed, multi-layered and very relatable characters whose struggles felt real. I adored Jeremy for being such a dotting and devoted husband. Although his sexual preferences were on the raunchier side he didn’t hasitate to tone down his appetite in order to not scare his sweet wife. He made Gina feel desirable, safe and loved. With him she felt cherished and comfortable in exploring intimacy. Georgina’s kind and giving heart never left out an opportunity to show her beloved husband how much he meant to her and how high she held Jeremy in her regard. For a man who was still having abondonment issues this was a balm for the soul. I admired Georgina for her strength and perseverance. She was such an impressive heroine. Witnessing these two grow and evolve as individuals and as a couple was such a delight. They are without a doubt one of my favorite couples Raine has ever written!
I recommend this marvelous story to all fans of this genre who like me appreciate and enjoy a reformed rake as a romantic lead. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed The Undoing of a Libertine and give it 5+ brilliant stars.
The Undoing of a Libertine is a 5 star masterpiece from Raine Miller and a must read for all romance fans! If you, like me, have watched Bridgerton on Netflix about 15 times already and are currently obsessed with historical novels, then you definitely need to pick up this one! It’s a great combination of sweet, sexy and angsty, with a very fast paced and intriguing story line. The two main protagonists are absolutely brilliant. Georgina is a strong woman who has suffered and survived a brutal assault. Now her father is determined to marry her off as soon as possible, in order to save the family’s reputation. Enter Jeremy Greymont, her brother’s best friend and a famous Libertine who is in desperate need of a wife and heir to secure his title.
The moment these two meet the sparks fly! Jeremy is besotted with Gina from the start, while she feels not good enough for him. Despite her predicament, Jeremy agrees to marry her. It’s a beautifully written love story full of passion and emotions that will leave you breathless. Like all couples, Jeremy and Gina will have several challenges to overcome, but what will always be a constant between them is their undeniable love for each other.
I could swoon about Jeremy Greymont for hours. He was a Rake, there’s no denying it, but once he met Gina, everything changed. Even though he was a man with particular tastes in the bedroom, he pushed his carnal needs to the side and was very gentle and considerate with her. He knew that a woman like her who suffered such a trauma would have difficulties to trust and let herself go. It melted my heart how he treated her like the biggest treasure in the world and was constantly torn between his unsatiable need for her and the need to protect her. He’s most definitely one of my top favorite heroes written by this incredibly talented author.
Sweet, strong and goodhearted Gina was a very remarkable woman. I was in awe of her strenght and felt so much sympathy for her and her situation. Finding a husband like Jeremy who was extremely protective of her and loved her fiercly was a blessing! He admired her quiet strenght and determination to make their marriage work and make him happy. I loved watching her bloom under his care.
I could seriously read this book again and again and never get tired of it. It’s the kind of epic love story that shows how love can heal and mend wounds we sometimes think will last forever. A huge round of applause for Raine Miller for writing such an outstanding book! She’s not without a reason one of my top favorite authors. Now please do yourself a favour and pick up this 5+ stars gem right now.
Where is my Jeremy Greymont?? He was the man that Georgina needed. His love, his trust, his patience and his all helped Georgina move on from her tragedy. He loves her with his complete heart, soul and body. He wants to be a better man for her. Everything he does is with her best interests in mind. Do they still make men like that?
Georgina hurt my heart. I cannot imagine experiencing what she went through and still be brave and strong. To be able to experience (and enjoy) the physical side of marriage was a testimony to her strength. And Jeremy’s love. I wish Raine Miller wrote more historical romance books.
PS I wanted to nut punch Georgina’s father at the beginning of the book for the way he treated his daughter and how he made her feel shame for the assault. That was horrible. He SLIGHTLY redeemed himself at the end.
