The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (Nominated as one of America’s best-loved novels by PBS’s The Great American Read) Seconds before the Earth is demolished for a … Read)
Seconds before the Earth is demolished for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent is saved by Ford Prefect, a researcher for the revised Guide. Together they stick out their thumbs to the stars and begin a wild journey through time and space.
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
The moment before annihilation at the hands of warmongers is a curious time to crave tea. It could only happen to the cosmically displaced Arthur Dent and his comrades as they hurtle across the galaxy in a desperate search for a place to eat.
Life, the Universe and Everything
The unhappy inhabitants of planet Krikkit are sick of looking at the night sky– so they plan to destroy it. The universe, that is. Now only five individuals can avert Armageddon: mild-mannered Arthur Dent and his stalwart crew.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
Back on Earth, Arthur Dent is ready to believe that the past eight years were all just a figment of his stressed-out imagination. But a gift-wrapped fishbowl with a cryptic inscription thrusts him back to reality. So to speak.
Mostly Harmless
Just when Arthur Dent makes the terrible mistake of starting to enjoy life, all hell breaks loose. Can he save the Earth from total obliteration? Can he save the Guide from a hostile alien takeover? Can he save his daughter from herself?

Worth a re-read at least once a year. Fantastic humor and fun story.
My son used the book to play the tabletop game “Bring Your Own Book” and won most of his rounds.
For lovers of madcap, intelligent comedy as well as aficionados of science fiction, this collection of the adventures of the last Earthman and his off-beat galactic traveling companions is a must-read. Full of sarcasm, satire, and farce, Adams’ light-hearted romp begins with an apocalyptic mishap and touches on science, religion, and social …
If you’re a fan of dry, wacky British humor, and science-fiction, this is the book for you, or rather, this trilogy (in five parts) follows human Arthur Dent just before and after the destruction of Earth (to make way for an intergalactic highway). It wanders at times, but it always gets back on course. Eventually.
When I met Terry Jones and Douglas Adams who were doing book tours for the Starship Titanic, I had them both autograph a copy of TUHG for me. (Alas, my ex-girlfriend never returned that copy, and I had to replace it. In view of an entire planet being destroyed to make way for a hyperspace bypass, such a floopy complaint seems hardly worth …
In response to book Bub’s query on a book that made readers laugh out loud: While reading this English humor classic, I often frightened my wife, while the two of us were reading in bed, by howling with laughter and glee. The book is a full-throttle outrageous, ridiculous sci-fi fantasy of the first order. If you have decided to tackle this, …
One book i read over and over. One of the best books i have read
This contains all the books in the series. My favorite is So long and Thanks for The Fishes. Adams has a way of describing things that is completely mad and brilliant.
This is no lazy sunday morning read. If you’re looking to take a brain break by reading a book might I recommend James Patterson. If you are looking for a rollercoaster ride of adventure and randomness then this is the series for you!
Probably the best work of satire in the 20th century, based in part on Candide by Voltaire.
Truly a laugh-out-loud book

One of my favorite writers. I could read this book over and over, each time finding something new to laugh about and some new incite. So sad Douglass Adams is gone from this world.
It’s Douglas Adams. ‘Nuff said.
This fantastic ‘trilogy’ provided me with an alternative reality at a time when my own reality was too awful to face. If I’d had one literary wish in life, it would be that I’d had a chance to thank Douglas Adams for creating this wonderful and quirky way of turning things on their head and providing a fresh and hilarious perspective, for making …
AWESOME BOOK!!!!!!!!!! Contains all of Adams’ musings, thoughts, and rambles… Which can be amusing, thought-provoking, and brilliant! Plus! In my copy there’s a Sixth Short Story, tracking Zaphod and his “out there,” (he IS an alien) upbringing…
“The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” is a wholly remarkable book. Perhaps the most remarkable, certainly the most successful book ever to come out of the great publishing corporations of Ursa Minor – of which no Earthman had ever heard of. More popular than “The Celestial Home Care Omnibus”, better selling than “Fifty-three More Things to do in …
