The second volume in J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic adventure THE LORD OF THE RINGS One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them Frodo and his Companions of the Ring have been beset by danger during their quest to prevent the Ruling Ring from falling into the hands of the Dark Lord by destroying it in the Cracks of Doom. They have lost the … Cracks of Doom. They have lost the wizard, Gandalf, in a battle in the Mines of Moria. And Boromir, seduced by the power of the Ring, tried to seize it by force. While Frodo and Sam made their escape, the rest of the company was attacked by Orcs. Now they continue the journey alone down the great River Anduin–alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go.
“Among the greatest works of imaginative fiction of the twentieth century. The book presents us with the richest profusion of new lands and creatures, from the beauty of Lothlórien to the horror of Mordor.” – Sunday Telegraph

Read this book along with the others in the set back in the 70’s. Still one of my favorites.
I love the whole series!
The great tale of the Ring continues. Now that the Fellowship is broken, the stories diverge. The first part of this book focuses on Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, with a break for Merry and Pippin. The second half tells the tale of Frodo and Sam after they parted from the others.
With breathtaking descriptions of both setting and characters, this …
I read this as a teen and again as an adult. I would definitely read it a third time!
You never know where you will go when magic is involved sinister and heroic characters mix and are challenged to see who will prevail in the end.
I feel like this book is amazing for people who like fantasy. You can enter yourself in this world of Hobbits, Men, Elves, Dwarves and Orcs!
What is left to say about the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy? These are must read books!
Part two of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the characters in this tale will stay with you forever. I would definitely read The Felliwship of the Ring (part 1 of the trilogy) first. Sooo worthwhile.
A Masterpiece, nothing can compare to it.
Also a great book! 😀 Loved it!
My favorite of the three books
Loved it
Great book / trilogy.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is not just a classic of the fantasy genre, it is THE classic of the genre. The second book in the trilogy does not disappoint.
The fantasy world of Tolkien is legendary and of course, one of the best ever written in its genre. Very descriptive and written at a very slow and relaxing pace is something maybe not meant for everyone, but it was perfect for me. Of course I remember this novel to everyone.
My favorite author
I loved the whole Tolkein trilogy (including the fourth, The Hobbit). Read them all several times. Great escape reading.
Part two of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings picks up right where the Fellowship left off- basically no time jump at all. The Two Towers throws you right back into the action, starting with Legolas, Gimli, and Aragorn’s desperate search/hunt for Merry and Pippin/the Orcs. And in this book we meet more of Middle Earth’s race of Men- the Men of Rohan. …
in high school i took a class ‘reading for pleasure’ thinking it would be an easy class. My second book was JRR Tolkin’s The Hobbit. I have been hooked on reading ever since. Long live Bilbo and Frodo!
Incredible world building. I love this book – I feel as though I am there in the landscape. The tale gets darker as the story moves on and I love the way the author weaves such a complicated plot together so seamlessly. (Much better than the films!)
