What do you do when the entire nation is on lockdown? If you’re an heiress to a billion-dollar fashion company, then you quarantine in a glamorous cabin and finish your final semester of NYU online. The best way to focus on her upcoming valedictorian honor is away from her family, classmates, and the paparazzi. Cameron St. James is ready to get out of the big city and head Upstate for seclusion, … Upstate for seclusion, despite her parent’s pleas to stay home.
What do you do when a pandemic is sweeping the world?
If you’re barely making ends meet, then you isolate yourself in your best friend’s mountain cabin with breathtaking views and no neighbors for miles. It’s the perfect safe place away from three roommates who don’t take the life-threatening epidemic seriously. Elijah Ross is ready to work remotely and focus on his next big promotion, assuming he’ll still have a job after this.
What happens when things don’t go as planned, and you’re stuck with the one person you dislike the most?
You improvise and do whatever it takes to avoid each other, though it proves to be impossible. The cold evenings alone turn into movie and popcorn nights together by the fireplace. Days turn into weeks, and eventually, more than just a friendship blossoms. As the unknown haunts them, they lean on one another for comfort—until someone pops their safety bubble and threatens everything.
The Two of Us is an enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend standalone romance set in the current affairs of history in the making. Though the character’s storyline is fiction, the circumstances are very real, and we’re sensitive to this topic. This is a story about hope, love, and so much more with a guaranteed happily ever after.

As usual kennedy fox can write great back and forth banter so good. I enjoyed Cami and Eli’s overall relationship and chemistry. It was so fun to see the female be the pursuer while the male character wants to take it slow.
I did feel like the male narrator sounded a little too old for the character he was portraying. But the female narrator was spot on.
The plot became a little far fetched for my liking near the end. But I liked their connection as the couple. And I liked how open they always were with each other.
I’ll be honest, I went into this book with hesitation. I was not excited to read about the pandemic and people being in quarantine. HOWEVER, this book was really good! This love story between these two characters, was really good! It did remind me of the horribleness of 2020, but in all the best ways.
Cameron & Elijah were both very solid, fun characters, that sucked you into their story. They were both witty, kind, sweet and fun-loving leads. This was an enemies-to-lovers trope, however that “hate” doesn’t last too long, so if that trope isn’t your cup of tea, I think you will still enjoy this! I also really enjoyed the animals/pets in this story, because they were big enough characters that we got to see their personalities come to life too!
These two have an intense, passionate love story that will leave you swoony and craving the second book in this series! I love that we got to know the character’s that will be in book 2, even though it was all through phone conversations. Kennedy Fox really did some amazing story-telling with this book and couple!
There was one scene/instance that happened in this book that I wasn’t too big of a fan of, but the way it played out was okay and didn’t distract me from my love of the story. It all wrapped up very well, with my much-needed, giant bow of happiness! I highly recommend this book and can not wait for the second one!
The Two of Us is something a little different in the sense that it is set during the initial outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in New York City. Going into this I wondered how much of a part the pandemic would have to play in the story and I think Kennedy Fox found a good balance. Cameron (Cami) and Elijah (Eli) grew up together, Eli is Cami’s brother’s best friend; but have seemed worlds apart for some time now in an almost enemies to lovers vibe. When the pandemic breaks out in New York city Cami decides to retreat to her parents Cabin outside of the city to isolate and stay safe. What she doesn’t expect is Eli to turn up on her doorstep with the exact same plan in mind.
I really enjoyed The Two of Us, it was a lighter read for the most part and I actually enjoyed that it felt relevant with what’s going on in the world right now. The pandemic itself served as a catalyst for the romance by means of getting the Hero and heroine together in a cabin alone, hello forced proximity vibes. From here I think it’s woven into the story well in way that feels present but doesn’t overwhelm the romance of the story but adds to it and gives what happens throughout a purpose.
In terms of the romance, Cami and Eli have a clear attraction but it takes some time for them to give into it, warring with themselves internally about making a move. These two had great banter and Tor Thom and Emma Wilder really enhanced the story with their performances on the audiobook! I did worry about the story becoming a bit stale set in the one cabin the whole way through BUT Kennedy Fox threw a couple of twists in there and kept the drama up, which I loved!
For me this was an easy listen and by the end I was completely invested in Cami and Eli’s love story, following on from the epilogue I am looing forward to seeing how Ryan and Kendall’s story will play. Will the cabin be their lucky charm too when it comes to love in isolation?
At first, I was hesitant to read/listen to a book that discusses our current world filled with the covid virus and quarantine. I thought, why would I want to escape this to only read about it? What I read/listened to is the love and hope some can get out of this scare we are living through. We don’t need to allow it keep us from living and falling in love.
Did some parts cause me anxiety? Yes, quite a few. But majority was filled of being isolated with Cameron and Elijah and their HEA. A fun childhood friend/brother’s best friend to current enemy turn love.
Based on me not being fond of reading about COVID, I took a chance. Overall, the storyline was well written, narrators were enjoyable (a little slow in their speech but 1.3x speed corrected that), the HEA was amazing!
Audiobook Review:
This book was a truly well written story that may be fiction but felt so realistic. I was nervous by the idea of stories, particularly romance written about these pandemic times. It’s such a tense and stressful topic to be living in and for me, I didn’t know if I could enjoy a story written about it. Even in my favorite genre, romance. But this book shows me how wrong I was. This story was done right. It had a brothers best friend trope which I love and that kind of helped. It wasn’t two strangers thrown together and falling in love over a couple weeks. These two had history, even if it wasn’t always pleasant history. I also just loved the progression of the story. The way Elijah but effort into them really getting to know each other. The different tests their relationship was put through during their isolation. It was all just so well done.
And I can’t say enough good things about the narration. Tor Thom has been one of those narrators I’ve liked for a while but I honestly think he is getting better with time. And Emma Wilder has a great normal tone, but I think I kinda love her male voice. She’s one of those female narrators that I can happily listen to in dual narration any day cause her guy voice is on point.
Finally a good book about our current situation! I loved Cami and Eli, their chemistry was amazing together. I was hoping it would be more “hate to love” kind of story so I was not as invested when they get past through their hiccups. Totally me, not the book situation. Overall, this was enjoyable and a good portrait of two young responsible people in the face of a pandemic!
Yes!!! This story is somewhat relatable right now! Cameron is a rich college girl, working her way into taking over her families company one day. Elijah is the son of one of their maids who befriended Ryan (Cami’s brother)…. they both end up going to her families cabin to shelter in place for a while with the pandemic hitting New York so hard. They didn’t seem to like each other much…. but then you find out it is because they have had crushes on each other forever. Eli starts teaching Cami how to do things for herself and they continue to bond while stuck together. Super swoony!!! Anyway they have some things that get in the way of their HEA…. this was such a great listen! The narration was great and really pulled me into the story!
Now I can’t wait to find out what happens with Ryan and Kendall! That should be a fun one!!!
This is book one of the Love in Isolation series. It’s set in our current reality of the Pandemic and being quarantined in a cabin. This is a fun story that is definitely relatable to the current time.
The book keeps the reader turning the pages to see how it would play out for Cami and Eli once they are stuck together in a cabin. This is an enemies to lovers/ brother’s best friend romance. It was a wonderful read that I highly enjoyed.
This is a cute coming of age/brothers best friend/enemy to lover story set during the quarantine. Loads of memories set in this book. It is actually a great way for future peeps to see how it was.
Loved the narration!!
I love isolation books and this is one of the best! The writing style and story telling ability of the duo that is Kennedy Fox is superb! I was so into this story that takes place right as the 2020 pandemic starts is timely and pretty realistic (how could they know at the time that it would go on forever and forever). The characters really bounced dialogue off each other well and the heat that was between them was combustible. A great, steamy, brother’s best friend romance that is so worth your reading time!
I listened to the audio version of this book and the narration by Tor Thom and Emma Wilder was excellent!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
Wish my quarantine was as fun and hot as this one
Good character development and I enjoyed the storyline and the pacing. I really liked Eli and Cami and their relationship – great chemistry. Best of all, it’s a standalone (not a duet) so their story wraps up at the end. But it’s not all fun and games and the author describes a lot of fear and anxiety over the pandemic that can cause some readers issues. The two narrators were perfect for these characters – loved both of them.
Loved the story line. Great brothers friend and enemies to lovers story. Using today’s pandemic as the setting for the story only made it more real. A great way to have the two stuck with each other. Camie and Eli have known each other since they were children. She comes from money and his mother worked for them. When they were teenagers she pushed his friendship away by siding with her friends that came from money. By having to spend so much time together they slowly build back their bond into something more
This book is just cute and sweet and funny. It’s setting is realistic because it takes place during this pandemic. To me this makes the story that much better cause I think we can all relate to this story because of the current situation the world is in. Love in lockdown!
I loved this book. It was just a fun book to listen to. It was nice to read a brothers best friend romance where the brother was actually happy for his best friend and sister. Elijah Ross and Cameron St. James are perfect together, the chemistry is off the charts in this book from the very beginning. Isolated in there little bubble they comfort each other through the virus. Did not want this story to end, absolutely loved it.
Tor Thom and Emma Wilder do an amazing job at breathing life into Elijah and Cameron.
This is the first book of four in the Love in Isolation Series. This is a great enemis to lovers, and brother’s best friend romance. Cami and Eli’s story is beautifully written, fun and sweet, despite the circumstances. The authors did an amazing job writing this story sets during the quarantine. Cami and Eli are totally opposites attract, and they are perfect together! I like their banters, and I like how they help each other during the pandemic lockdown. Kendall (Cami’s best friend), Ryan (Cami’s brother) and Ava (Eli’s sister) are wonderful supporting characters. I would love to read their story. I can’t wait for the next book in the Series, The Best of Us, Ryan and Kendall’s story. I read this story before, and the audiobook version brings wonderfully this story to life. Tor Thom and Emma Wilder did an excellent job with the narration. (review updated with the audiobook version)
As someone who has been experiencing a high level of anxiety these last few months over the COVID-19 pandemic, I was worried that it would only heighten my levels to full on panic. This was not the case… thank goodness! Because the book is set during the current pandemic, the feelings that the characters experienced about social distancing, self-quarantine, and worrying about being diagnosed with the virus were all the ones I’ve been personally feeling.
Cameron St. James, heiress to a multi-billion dollar fashion empire, decides to stay at her family’s cabin in the interim. Elijah Ross, best friend to Cami’s brother Ryan, is also staying at the cabin unbeknownst to Cami. They were once friends turned frenemies and their time stuck together at the cabin will make or break them. They both have stereotypical viewpoints of each other and are definitely opposites. I won’t go into the details of the story because you’ll want to read it for yourself (trust me, you will), but for Cami and Eli, spending time together is an eye-opening experience.
Kennedy Fox crafted a tale of figuratively making lemonade out of lemons. They gave me a reprieve from the real world. Their words strung together wove a spell that mesmerized me from the very start to the very end. I can’t wait to read about Kendall and Ryan!
Tor Thom and Emma Wilder were the perfect duo to dually narrate this story. The characters came to life for me as I listened.
I received an advance copy of the book and a complimentary copy of the audiobook at my request and volutarily left this review.
Awesome Story & Narration Gripping & Heartfelt!
The Two of Us
Love in Isolation, Book 1
By: Kennedy Fox
Narrated by: Tor Thom, Emma Wilder
I loved this book, it is a wonderful enemies to lovers, brothers best friends romance. In true Kennedy Fox style it is a well written and well told story with interesting characters and storylines. I love the whole “Love in Isolation” premise and they did a great job incorporating the realism of the pandemic, capturing the seriousness and hardships of the times. They did not make light of it but they did lighten up the heaviness of it as the two characters come head to head. Cameron “Cami” St. James is a society girl who comes from money, she is finishing up college before heading to grad school when the pandemic hit. With the school closing she will continue the semester remotely, instead of going back to the city she felt it safer to quarantine in their family’s country home. She head’s there with enough supplies to sustain her for a while, her boyfriend will be joining her there as well. Turns out her brother told his best friend, Elijah “Eli” Ross, that he could stay at the house to self quarantine. Eli is asthmatic and wanted to get out of the city and away from his roommates. Neither one knew the other would be there, they were both surprised by the turn of events, Eli was happy about, Cami not so much. Eli always crushed on her and would love to win her over but she is so out of his league, or is she. I just loved how everything plays out, the story is nicely plotted, there is a perfect balance of drama and humor to lighten up the seriousness of it all and help cope with it, a touch of angst, lots of heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. I loved these two together and for each other, he was awesome with her, so patient and you could see how much she grew as a person by the end. Kennedy Fox, thank you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Tor Thom and Emma Wilder did an awesome job portraying the characters, grasping each persona, taking the role and making it their own. Tor Thom played the perfect Eli, he brought out all of his emotions, Emma Wilder did the same for Cami with the added feistiness of the character. These two mega talented narrators are versatile voice artists and entertaining storytellers, it is always a pleasure to listen to their work. Thank you for another fantastic listen.
Cami and Eli were so wonderful, and can’t forget Bruno and Chanel!
“Did you make a move because you only wanted something or because you want me?”
“I plan to do whatever I can to help push his insecurities away. I nearly melted against him yesterday, after finally giving in to my inhibitions, and he left me high and dry because a bouquet of roses that I don’t even want arrived.”
Elijah has had a crush on Cameron since they were teens, but being the helps son he never stood a chance. So instead he pick and teased her relentlessly. He definitely didn’t expect to be isolated with her at her families cabin in the middle of a pandemic.
Cameron is super nervous and confessed by the recent events. She decides to go to her families cabin after her school gets shut down and everyone is finishing the year via online. She packs plenty of essentials along with her cat Chanel and heads out. Her boyfriend Zane is suppose to met her there the following day. After arriving and getting unpacked she decides to take a nap since she’s alone. She wakes with a startle after she hears a loud noise down stairs. She take a marble statue to protect herself. Once she’s down the stairs a large dog starts chasing her cat and she see a figure in the fridge. She throws the statue nearly hitting none other then Elijah her longtime crush and brothers bestfriend.
Wow. Kennedy Fox really brought the realness of the world we are living into a beautiful romance story with The Two of Us. It is a forced proxcimity/opposites attracts/brothers best friend romance. I love these tropes and I devoured this story. Cameron has retreated to her family’s cabin as the world enters a lockdown due to the covid-19 pandemic. Just as she is starting to settle into isolation on her own her brothers best friend, Elijah shows up and they are forced into lock down together. Cameron comes from a wealthy family and has grown up with a lot of privledge. She hasn’t had to do much for herself. Simple tasks such as cooking and laundry were new to her and it was quite funny watching her figure it all out. Eli and Cami have so much chemistry. The sexual tension was off the charts for the first half of the book. Their intensity and connection I adored! The second half had a lot of emotion and angst and I was dying for them to get their HEA. I loved the little bit we learn about Cami’s brother Ryan and her best friend Kendall and I am dying to read their story coming soon called The Best of Us.
I listened to the audiobook of this one and the narration done by Tor Thom and Emma Wilder was fantastic. Their passionate voices really made these characters come alive.
Well I have officially read everything Kennedy Fox has written so far but I know there is more to come!
I loved, loved, loved Cami and Eli’s story so much and it was so fitting for the times we are in, in 2020. Eli and Cami’s story was along time coming since they have known each other since they were kids. There story is so sweet and loving that everyone wishes they could have a love story like theirs. They both went through a lot while they were in isolation during the pandemic and I think it made them stronger.
I would have to say this is one of my favorite friends to lovers stories I have read. Kennedy Fox knocked this one out of the park with this one and I cannot wait until the next Love in Isolation story with Ryan and Kendall. Bring it on!
In a mist of a quarantine this 4 stars read and listen is a sweet love story of being in isolation during a pandemic.
A stay at home order has Cameron St. James laying low away from the city at her family’s cabin. Her plans are to study and prepare for graduation with her boyfriend. Little did she know an unexpected guest shows up from her past, her brother’s best friend Elijah Ross. Their relationship has always been tense between the two of them since they were young. With Cami coming from an elite household to Eli family being the help of their family. Since no one of backing out of leaving they do whatever it takes to stay of each other way. Little did they know that this accidental plan of temporary living together would change the perspective of each other and the life in the outside world.
Eli and Cami relationship is filled with banter and many innuendos that that begin to change the dynamic; however, with Cami new found status come into light the truth behind of their growing chemistry is questioned. Eli has waited this long and he is determined to hold back on anymore until Cami can proof that she is more than what she has always been portrayed to everyone.
Get ready for the feels that will be thrown at you at different angles. Narrators Tor Thom and Emma Wilder takes the listen to a new level. This brother’s best friend enemies to lovers read is much more and will pull at your heart with the challenging things they experience together and whether at the end it will make them or break them.
