The Two of Us is an enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend standalone romance set in the current affairs of history in the making. Though the character’s storyline is fiction, the circumstances are very real, and we’re sensitive to this topic. Another hit by this duo! 5 stars, make sure you grab it asap!
We meet Cameron, she’s fleeing to her families cabin upstate & her boyfriend will be joining her, to escape the pandemic that’s hit New York hard as well as the rest of the world. She wants peace and quiet so she can finish her studies and move on to her masters program. While at the cabin she’s interrupted by someone coming in the door, only for her to see it’s Elijah, her brothers best friend and the guy she grew up not only crushing on but also not liking very much!
Follow their story as it unfolds here, can they live together and not kill each other? Only time will tell! I love this one, make sure you grab it on release day!
What can I say about this book, it has a little bit of everything making it the perfect read. Cami & Eli grew up together, but are on different social standings, this causes a little bit of a Enemies to Lovers vibes with some great snarky bits. Add in true to life current events which causes these two to end up isolating together and truths come out. But in rare form it’s the guy, Eli, holding back to make sure it’s the right move, making this a bit of a slow burn book too! You can immediately feel that this book was written with extreme sensitivity to the current world conditions, and I think because of that, my personal anxiety wasn’t affected by the book. I think if anything I felt more connected to the book because I’m going through what they are. The slow burn of Cami and Eli will have your reading this book at a faster pace because you just want to get to their fire, and fire it is! I love that this book sets you up perfectly for book 2 without any major cliffhanger, you won’t feel slighted one bit!
I received an ARC in return for my honest review.
***4 Stars***
I took a chance on this book for two reasons
1) I’ve been wanting to dive into a Kennedy Fox book for a while, and figured that diving in at the start of a new series was the perfect way to go.
2) I was intrigued by the fact that they were setting the story/world during this pandemic and wanted to see it through their/their characters eyes.
And I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed Cameron and Elijah’s journey. It was the perfect mix of heart, humor and angst with a nice little surprise tossed in that even I didn’t see coming, but did fit well into the story overall, and definitely left me wanting more when everything was said and done.
I loved Cameron and Elijah. Cameron is sweet, sassy and driven. She isn’t afraid to go all in when she decides she wants something and she owns everything she is. Elijah is a good man. He’s sweet, snarky, quick witted and charming.
Their enemies/frenemies to lovers journey to their HEA was a lot of fun to experience. I personally liked the fact that the angsty-ness was on the low end. Yes, they picked at each other, but they never crossed the line into being mean and because they were on ‘lockdown’ together, it pushed them to confront the attraction that had been simmering between them for years. And though there wasn’t a huge roadblock in their journey, they did weather a few storms together and how each event only brought them closer together.
This was a fun read, and has me kicking my own arse for not diving in to these authors books before, but at least I finally started right? Right. The writing was engaging, pacing good and I liked the dual first person POV’s. As is stated in the synopsis, the Pandemic plays a part in this story and I liked how they handled it throughout the story. As for the supporting cast of characters, I loved Chanel and Bruno, as well as Ryan, Kendall and Ava and am definitely looking forward to seeing what the next two books in the series brings us!

What happens when two people who were friends turned enemies are quarantined together? A whole lot of bickering, frustration, and sizzling chemistry.
Cameron is the heiress to her family’s business who has not had to live like the unfortunate. The paparazzi constantly follow her and portray an image that they want and not who she really is. Eli on the other hand is your typical, down to earth, average guy who sells real estate and is also Cameron’s brother, Ryan, best friend.
The country was forced to undergo a quarantine due to a virus that no one saw coming. Little did Cameron and Eli know, they would soon be reconnecting. Cameron had decided to go to her family’s cabin to self quarantine and wait for her boyfriend and had no idea that her brother had offered up the cabin to Eli as well. When her boyfriend breaks up her via text, she is forced to reconsider her friendship with Eli for her own sanity while having to deal with everything going on in the world. What they don’t realize is that old feelings they one had will resurface while spending all this time together. Neither of them had a clue both liked each other when they were younger but when Cameron decided she had to have a certain lifestyle, Eli had to reconsider his feelings for her and soon became enemies. They fell into a routine, became friends again, and decided that there was more than friendship between them. Soon they were taking a chance on this new relationship but were also having to deal with unforeseen obstacles as well.
These two amazing characters not only had to deal with unexpected changes in the world but also the challenges of finding themselves, their feelings, and all the insane chemistry they had for one another. This was an AMAZING book that gives you so much hope that no matter what life throws at you, you will always be able to overcome anything. Another outstanding job well done by Kennedy Fox. Great job ladies!!
Social distancing. Stay home/stay safe. These are new words in our vocabulary which has made us all live, think and work differently. Everything has changed, and I applaud Kennedy Fox and their creative partnership for giving us this wonderful and timely story.
Cami and Eli both did the right thing by leaving the city to social distance in the country. They had different reasons for their journey, but it was the prudent thing to do. Their childhood friendship was important to them, but time and distance had kept them apart. Forced to live together during this difficult time brought back memories, both happy and sad, but also allowed them to make new ones and to comfort each other when the isolation became unbearable. Cami needed Eli to help her relax and chase away the uneasiness and he knew just what to do to comfort her. He was her port in the storm and she was thankful that he had come back into her life. Their love had always been there but it just took the long way to bring them back together. Cami and Eli are a fun loving and positive couple who embraced their situation with bravery, courage and laughter. Cami could be herself with Eli and he finally had the chance to show her how he had always felt about her. Despite the fact that they were brought together by horrible circumstances, we can rejoice in their love and be hopeful for their future.
The girls have done it again!!!! What more could you ask for in a trope, enemies to lovers, brothers best friend and a deadly pandemic. The ladies of Kennedy Fox took a very sensitive subject that is still a reality we are facing today and made a beautiful story out of it. They treated a sensitive issue with such care all the while giving Eli and Cami the story they deserve. The story felt more real than anything I have read from them, because we all are still dealing with the effects of the Pandemic. The banter was in true KF fashion and had me laughing a lot. The sexual tension was OFF THE CHARTS but the love these two share for each other was a beautiful thing to witness. I couldn’t put the book down and finished it one sitting. I cannot wait for the next in this series.
This book was nothing like I expected it was way better !!!
This very talented duo took us into this pandemic the world is suffering and gave us a romance and characters to fall in love with. Eli and Cami’s story shows us through their eyes what the world is facing on a daily basis in The Two of Us we see the fears and the hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel for us all.
This is a beautifully written love story with wonderful characters who come to realise they have feelings for each other when they are self isolating in Cami’s family cabin. The witty banter flows so naturally as this couple realise they talk to each other or they talk to no one and it was great to see these characters personalities grow as this story processed. I loved everything about this book and I highly recommend it because if there is one book you need to read during this pandemic it’s this one.
Can’t wait for more from this very talented duo.
Oh the cuteness.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s raw and real. But the relationship from Cam to Eli is just adorable.
Very well written, felt real. The fear. The unknown. The virus. It’s set I’m extremely current day New York. Like. Jan 2020. At ground zero of the virus!
I really felt their fear. Sympathized with the anxiety. The unknown.
And through it all it’s a enemies to lovers, childhood friend story that’s just perfect!
Highly recommend!

Enemies-to-Lovers | Brother’s Best Friend Romance
I don’t think there is a book that is any more relatable than this one during the pandemic. Kennedy Fox has outdone themselves here and brings readers a glorious new romance that’ll make you swoon! I love an enemies-to-lovers trope and add in being FORCED to stay with one another in isolation makes it even more fun! What a book! There was no doubt in my mind that this amazing duo would slay this book as everything they write becomes a top favorite of mine. This one though is so perfect for right now!
If you’re looking for something that really hits home, then this is your book. It’s a wonderfully, romantic take on finding love in a world where we must isolate from others.
Rate: 4.5 / 5 stars
The Two of Us is a book that depicts our current situation so beware of that, specially if you have anxiety over what is happening. Having that said this is book is on the lighter side. Eli and Cami are bound to give you a good time with their banter, teasing and games. They make the best of isolation and work on getting to know each other for real and having fun with whatever they can.
They both have work – Eli works in real estate and Cami is finishing her degree. I could really relate to her struggles with working from home and not getting to finish her degree in person or walking the stage on graduation. It’s my last year too, and I unlike her am already on my masters, and it’s sad that this will be my goodbye. So it was nice to see my feelings reflected on the pages.
Working doesn’t stop them from having fun or trying new things though. Cami learns how to cook and just be more independent by doing things herself instead of having them do it for her. Honestly, I loved seeing Cami’s growth. I feel like in those months she really evolved and showed how capable, strong and real she really is. I love how Eli made fun of her and that sort of became fuel for her to do better and want to do things herself. And deep down he always rooted for her and helped her. It was totally adorable.
I loved how fun and entertaining they could be with their little games of drinking, seducing and annoying each other! I loved how they both had pets which were first seen as the ‘enemy’ and by the end they were as much as in love with them as each other. And I really loved the relationship they both had with Ryan, Cami’s brother and Eli’s bestfriend. I swear these ladies write the best male side characters. They always have swooning over them as much as our hero. I couldn’t be happier that Ryan is getting is own book next!
But these two are real and like any real couple, they have their struggles and insecurities and are f*cked by life. They take care of each other and are able to see how much they truly care for one another. They fight through insecurities, distance, sickness and a surprise visit that ends in a shocking unexpected way. That part of the story came out of nowhere and had my jaw dropping but it also gave them the chance to really realise their feelings and gave them the courage to share them. So yes most of the book is light hearted and fun but there are some emotional scenes too. Now the sexual tension was real and so fun for them to explore. Eli wanted to take things slow and Cami fought him on it and it’s just so entertaining and fun to see them try to break each other down… it was my favorite part of the book ahah.
Love in Isolation is bound to be an epic, unique series. I am already so excited for the second book – a snowed in situation is so dreamy aha. If you love witty banter, characters confined in closed quarters, a brother’s bff to lover romance with that love to get on each other’s nerves vibe, then you’ll love The Two of Us!
This was a really great story. Despite it having to do with current times, it really took me away from everything and I couldn’t put it down. Cami was really loveable despite her “rich” status. She was not your typical high class debutante. And our hero, Eli is a swoony, romantic, “I want one for myself” kind of man. He is hilarious and sexy and knows what he wants. I really enjoyed their enemy type banter at the beginning but the fire started burning and then they were scorching hot together. I really loved the storyline and was never dull and boring. And I loved that the epilogue wrapped things up perfectly.
Absolutely loved this book! Enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend, deadly pandemic…it had it all! Cami escapes to her family’s cabin when NYC goes on lockdown. It’s isolated and safe. What she doesn’t expect is her brother’s best friend to show up in the middle of the night. Eli needs a place to crash while everything is up in the air, but he didn’t expect to get a stutue thrown at him when his best friend lets him stay at his family’s cabin. These two are complete opposites! She’s a rich socialite and he’s a real estate agent. Cami and Eli love to torment each other and it just made the sexual tension that much better!!! Eli is such a great guy! He teaches her so many things that ends up saving her when she needs it most. This book was so well done. It deals with what we’re all going through now, but the love story between them was definitely the focal point. This was my first Kennedy Fox book and it won’t be the last. I couldn’t put this book down! I’m excited to continue with this series with Cami’s brother and her best friend!
Wowzers! I am astounded that the Kennedy Fox writing team was able to take the current global situation and twist it into a tale.
What I really loved about this whole story is that the authors took shared experiences during the pandemic, like the information and news overload, and weaved it into the story. While this is a work of fiction, the elements used to describe the pandemic experience ring true. I’ve never washed my hands so much in my life nor seen adults fight over toilet paper.
Beyond the rich details of the world Cami and Eli are living in is the story of childhood friends who grew up and grew apart. While they can’t resist taunting each other, can they resist their attraction to one another? Would you? If the world you were living in became so uncertain, would you resist the person you crushed on as a kid?
PS. They’re called Toad in a Hole!
First of all I have to say I am so impressed with how quickly this story was put together and how real it all felt while reading it. Every highlight of what has been happening was thrown into this story. As the reader you feel exactly what the characters are feeling in the first few weeks of this quarantine because we have all lived it.
The story of Cami and Eli is based on this horrible pandemic we as a world have been going through and this story was nothing short of amazing. Kennedy Fox took this pandemic/quarantine and did what they do best….gave their readers a story of love. The dynamics between these two will keep you entertained. There is a tenderness with them and a fear for each of them as well and that just makes the story that much better.
If you like brother’s best friend, enemies to lovers and characters from two “different worlds” then this book is for you! In classic Kennedy Fox fashion there are moments in the story that will have your heart beating a bit faster due to events that occur. This love story is so beautifully written I didn’t want it to end.
Whether you are working from home for the first time ever, you became a teacher overnight, you worked on the front lines or were considered an essential employee of a different sort I highly recommend this book. Let Kennedy Fox show you that there is a silver lining to the bad situation. Cami and Eli will not disappoint.
*******AUDIO REVIEW********
This was the first time I have heard Tor Thom narrate and I loved it. I already was familiar with Emma Wilder and she is one of my favorite female narrators. Tor ranks in my top five male narrators for sure. They nailed the story of Cami and Eli!!
A laugh out loud, enemies to lovers, brothers best friend love story where our couple finds themselves in the same place during the current pandemic. As they learn about each other they find what they’ve always been looking for. This one has all of the feels…looking forward to the next one!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
What can I say about this book… it ticks off so many of our favorite tropes. Second chance, brothers best friend, enemies (more like adversaries) to lovers and does them all well. With the state of the world as it is, this is a feel good story despite the chaos we are all living in.
I liked the snark between Eli and Cami, it was highly entertaining watching the two of them try to best each other. Then as the days turned to weeks (and beyond) you started to see what they were trying hard to hide and resist. When the sparks finally ignited and things were looking up, their world comes tumbling down. Will they be able to weather the storms and come out on the other side together, or will it prove to be too much?
Absolute perfection!! Kennedy Fox captured the current world events magnificently and brought love where there is tragedy. This is a story about love at a time where there has been so much loss and it is pure perfection.
No matter how you have been hit with the global pandemic, The Two Of Us will touch you on some emotional level. This is an epidemic that everyone has been going through together. Whether you are essential, non-essential, working from home, working right in the hot zones, trying to shop for toilet paper, teaching your children math, you or a family member has been sick either from COVID-19 or any other illness and needed medical attention or just to quarantine from your loved ones, the list goes on and on as to what we all have faced as a nation or throughout the world. Nothing about the last few months has been easy for anyone. The Two Of Us will touch of something that falls within a pandemic crisis category, but know that Kennedy Fox did it in beautifully touching way.
Eli and Cami pull you into this quarantine, which we have all been experiencing in one way or another, and even with the monotony of our days that feel like a week has dragged on for a month (don’t worry the characters feel it too) we also know that this pandemic has changed us in some way or another (again, the characters also realize this, aside from just the love aspect and I love seeing growth in any character I read).
Kennedy Fox not only wrote an adorable enemies-to-lovers romance, but they also hit beautifully and tactifully on so many points of this global crisis. I was riveted the entire way through and couldn’t put the story down once I started.
Do yourself a favor and pick up Eli and Cami’s story when it releases, you will love falling in love right along with them and perhaps feel a bit more comforted that there are people out there just like yourself who feel everything you have been feeling during this pandemic.
